Thread: Just summing it all up
Ok, I rarely post due to the fact that everything other people say is usually how I feel, but I thought it might be a good idea to just stick everything I have seen in one place, instead of having to jump from one post to the other about how smugglers can be improved. I guess I am just getting sick of everyone arguing about what is top priority...united we gain ground, divided we fall, right? As much as we are criminals that work only for ourselves, we are also the Black Market of SWG, and I think that bonds us in some respects.
So this is what I have seen improvement wise (in no particular order ) :
1. Content: I think everyone agrees that we'd very much appreciate Smuggler only missions. If entertainers can get their own missions, this is perfectly possible, although it would take a little longer because of the detail required to really make this piece of the smuggler puzzle excellent.
2. The Underworld Tree: Ok, it's terrible now...I have seen many people ask about changing that tree to Smuggling exp instead of Pistol. That's very wise, ala BH. That, however, would have to also be implemented when and IF the content is changed (smuggler missions, etc.)
3. Spice experimentation: Half and half on this issue...looks like many smugglers would like this, and many don't care. The fact that we as smugglers are so split on the issue makes me think that it might be a little lower on the priority list...true, it would be pretty excellent to be able to grind out some killer spices, but this seems like something that, since everyone is not unified on the issue, can wait as far as the profession is concerned. Also, I agree that more spices would be nice, read somewhere about graphical effects with using mind boosting spice...if they could create hallucinations...like seeing a Krayt Dragon in the middle of Theed...I can only imagine how high spice sales would go. /evilgrin People would be using spice as it's really intended, as a drug, instead of a buff.
4. DF Skill Tree: I think the Devs are working really hard to improve this; as much as we want it fixed more, there are some professions that are broken just like us, plus there are other issues that they are working towards...I think they are working on improvements to this tree, we just need to be patient with DF. Perhaps some unarmed moves and/or a special pistol cert for Master Smugglers or Rogues..this would be something all smugglers would appreciate and find useful.
5. Slicing: Something almost every smuggler desires is more control over slices. I think that giving Master Smuggler a choice would be a wonderful idea. For the most part, this skill tree is pretty decent compared to DF and Underworld.
6. Faction Trading: I think this makes us feel a little more like the criminals we are...but I do think it would be really cool if we received a 'traitor' TEF for trading faction stuff to an opposing faction. There should always be a consequence for smuggling...we are underworld people after all...there's got to be risk involved. If anyone in your IMP guild saw you trading faction perks, etc. to a Rebel, you'd be in pretty hot water. There are a few people on my server that I know are traitors to their faction...some sort of risk should obviously be involved in that.
I don't know what else I've seen, this is all off the top of my head. If you want to argue with me, please don't. I'm not saying what should/should not be #1 on the list to fix, I think that we need a thread that:
A. Doesn't flame the devs....these people work their bums off. Sometimes it certainly doesn't feel like it, but they are, I assure you that.
B. Doesn't argue about what needs to get fixed...I am really hoping this thread is only constructive...if you can improve upon these ideas (which I know you all can,) put it out there! But don't put anyone else down...we can leave that to the people that ask us to slice for speed/damage and then get enraged if we don't, even after we tell them it's random. Smugglers are much more intelligent than that! /grin
Sorry about the long post, just thought we need one place where no one is going to flame anyone, and we can get something done here. If we are untied in at least one issue, let's really push that one issue, andthen move onto the next. I think it will be much more efficient than asking for 500 things at once. RIght?
Hope I helped...if anyone hates me, I was just trying to make life a little smoother for us smugglers. We already have a rough life as it is. /smile
How sad that just about NOTHING on this list has been fixed.
It's actually kind of hilarious now that I'm looking at it.

Since most (if not all) of Veela's points in her original post still stand, why don't we use this post for what she initialy intended to put forward and collect all our ideas into one thread?
I'll start it off! ![]()
1. Content
Following content ideas are still things I'd like to see with "smuggling" still obviously being the most importat;
¬ Smuggler-only missions
¬ Smuggler-esq (but not necessarily limited to the smuggler profression)mini games including Sabaac, Pazaak and Holochess
¬ Gun Holsters and other Smuggler-esq clothing
2. The Underworld Tree
¬ Addition of a new "smuggler only" language similar to the language "Lekku". Only smugglers would be able to speak/understand it and it would not be possible to teach. A possible language to use for this is Huttese ... if it used already-known huttese words then other players may be able to pick up some of what's being said which allows a little twist into the use of an ACTUAL Star Wars language in the game that is well documented on many words spread over the net.
3. Spice experimentation
¬ Personaly? I think spice crafting should be given to chefs. However, spices should not be sell-able via the bazaar or venders. Also, non-smugglers attempting to trade spice would suffer some kind of consequence like having a bunch of police suddenly spawn and attack you or whatever - this will mean that although Chef's make the spice, they will require a smuggler to actually transport and sell the stuff. Not quite a "smuggling mission" but its not far off the mark.
4. DF Skill Tree
¬ FaignDeath - In my opinion, the current state of FaignDeath needs work. As a Master Smuggler I find myself having to spam faign/stand/faign a good 3-4 times before it actually works and even when successful, it appears that in both PVE and PVP its possible for apponents to break the faign. So the changes should be: A master smuggler is successful at fainging 100% of the time and it CAN NOT be broken in both PVE and PVP. This will give us an increased edge.
¬ Defense/Accuracy/Speed - Smugglers need to gain defense and speed/accuracy mods to bring this profression more in-line with its combatant allies
¬ Skill Point Requirement - If it doesn't gain adequate mods to balance it with the other combat profressions, it should lose the requirement of the "Brawler Unarmed branch" and only require the pistolsbranch from marksman. If this profression is not designed to be a "stand alone" combat profression, why should it still require MORE skill points to learn than Rifleman? It doesn't make sense.
5. Slicing
¬ Ability to slice ship components
¬ Ability to "slice" land vehicles allowing an increase in certain states that are lost upon the vehicle being repaired
¬ Add a graphical interface to the new slicing system instead of just giving us a boring over-used text box. Make it FEEL like we are slicing and not just pressing an "ok" button on a string of text.
6. Faction Trading
¬ Allow smugglers to trade faction in a way that completly negates the rank. A possible solution to this is that when the smuggler purchases faction points, the points are stored in afaction chipthat appears in the smuggler's inventory (in the same way that credits looted in space appear in a credit chip). This way, the smuggler can purchase faction points and trade them to poeple without having to go overt and without losing any points based on the smuggler's rank. This allows a smuggler to constantly swap faction in order to sell both Rebel and Imperial faction points
Just to keep this on the top, because everything in it is pretty much Right on the money.
