I'm a sad panda.
And no where do they say they will give us something in January, I would not expect a design document being published today. In fact I would be worried because that would mean everything is already set in stone, and before the CURB, that would be bad news.
As for an announcement, they got burned making them too lightly, soooo I guess they are way more careful about them now.
My opinion

Hey now...it just says January...it doesn't say WHICH January...
Seriously though...an announcement would be nice, just to say "Ooops, we screwed up...again. Looks like it'll be sometime in February or March now."

We already knew we would not get revamped before the CURB is live, yes? That fp cap thing in the patch was not "the revamp". They already stated they need the CURB done before they can really put forward our revamp. So they started working already on some stuff, is that bad?-The point is not about whether we'd get a revamp before or during the CU. We know that and I pointed that out in the analogy of the house and the foundation. And obviously it wasn't the FP deal. And what stuff have "they started working"? I couldn't tell if it's good or bad because we don't know what it is.
And no where do they say they will give us something in January, I would not expect a design document being published today. In fact I would be worried because that would mean everything is already set in stone, and before the CURB, that would be bad news.-A note on whether things are proceding as planned is warranted since it was announced that "in January" that the detailed design of our profession's future is going to be in the works. Seeing as how it's the 31st and we haven't heard anything, I'd like to know if we're being pushed back again.
You also wouldn't need the CU anywhere near testing to lay it out and say that "We are adding scans at starports and a player-based Smuggling system. Also Fake IDs and Smuggled spice. We've decided to group this tree with that tree to make a tree for this new feature. How do you like that?" And I think every Smuggler wuold realized that nothing is set in stone. I mean, who'd of thunk that a promise for a particular slicing bug to make it to live would....make it to live?
My opinion- And much respect for it. Just wanted to clear stuff up so you knew what I meant.
I fear that experience will have taught them to not make announcements before they really are ready because if they say "we are thinking of doing this" peoples will hold on to that as law and will call them liars if it get changed. And that even if they put a big red "this is a design document, anything in here might change" disclaimer. I would love news too, don't get me wrong.
But I do see your point. True that to give us at least a very broad overview of what they are working on for us would be nice and might help with trust.

I hope they are working closely with Wes and will run that by him at the very least.
Then again, maybe we will be surprised by them submiting a design document for discussion to the Smuggler community in a few weeks. Ok maybe I am being overly optimistic.

Mmm yeah. I think I know what you are refering to. The "redo everything you already did and present it to us in a different format, oh and try to come up with ONE opinion for all the Smuggler community" game we already saw a while back.

You're being overly optimistic.
It's ok, I walked into that one.

I asked about this when the thread was originally posted and was told I'd be consulted when they needed input. I have neither seen nor heard anything that would suggest that they have/havenot started design work internally some time this January (just re-read that and realised it's a round about way of saying "I don't know"
