Thread: Petition for Smuggler Crafted Suicide Pills

Youre walking around anchorhead, chattin it up with the locals, and suddenly four overt imps zone in. You know theres about to be trouble. So you gather up some friends and go declare with the hopes of putting down this imperial menace. The fight is going well, you've got 2 of them down and are working on finishing off the other two. Then it happens. The Jedi Gank Squad shuttles in. Theres 6 of them, all Dark Jedi Knights. What do you do? You know you cant fight. You know you cant run. You know you cant drive. You know youre going to die. All you can do is decide *how* youre going to die.
Instead of standing idly by and letting yourself become another few points of Force Rank, you fumble around in your pack for a little blue pill. No, this isnt some pill to make you uber or invincible. It's pill that will make you die. It's a suicide pill. You take it, and 10 seconds later you die. The fight is over, you lose faction, but the Jedi Gank Squad has wasted a trip and its time. The Jedi's get nothing. And then they stand around wondering why they bothered to group up into such grossly overpowering groups just to take out a few regular PCs.
Its a simple solution to a growing problem. How to deal with gangs of roving Jedi Gank Squads that mass up with the intent of making every overt PC into their own personal jedi content.
Pros of Adding Suicide Pills to the Game:
1) Would greatly discourage Jedi & other PC's from massing up into overwhelmingly powerful groups, and instead seek out combat on more level terms.
2) Pills could be crafted and sold by smugglers, adding a new level of relevance to the class.
3) Would give players a realistic level of control over their own destiny. In a high tech world there is any number of advanced toxins that could be willingly collected and consumed to facilitate a quick and painless death should you fall into enemy hands.
4) Would encourage more players to seek out unfamiliar territory, take new risks, and engage themselves in the GCW.
Cons of Adding Suicide Pills to the Game:
1) ....
2) ....
3) ....
Conditions for making pills a viable solution:
1) Jedi cannot take pills without massive experience loss.
2) Pills would be a factional death for regular PCs, resulting in no decay.
3) Pills would be on a short timer to simulate the effects of poison entering and overcoming the body. Of course I do mean a short timer, but a timer nonetheless.
4) Pills could be experimented on by crafters to increase the potency, and thus reduce the timer before death.

I think its admirable that you're thinking of ways to give the Smuggler a little love, but suicide pills aren't the answer. We're transporters of illegal goods and services, not Kevorian meth-lab scientists.
Is such a pill needed in SWG ? I don't think so, but it is one more option of game play, that's for sure.
I think the best way to limit the number of Jedi running around is to have their increased numbers groupedto cause Darth Vader and his death squad to spawn and attack them. Not only would that be COOL to watch, but also VERY much in context with the timeline ... any visible groups of Jedi would be hunted down and killed by Vader.

I like this idea better for controling jedi gank squads but i still like the pill. However it would probably better suited to the chemical warfare boys...I mean combat medics yeah thats what they do.

I disagree... now you'll see hundreds of people killing themselves every time they're about to lose. That would hurt the GCW badly, imo.

Its a good idea, but it would just become abused like Feign Death is becoming with Jedi.

Seems more like a pill to be made by Docs or CMs. I dont think a smuggler would make these.

i agree with Kfett on that. relegate it to the Docs, or Cooks. but it is an interesting idea.

I honestly think this is a horrible idea.
Do remember that this game has kids in their teens and younger playing this game. Anything that would result in a self proclaimed suicideis sending the wrong image to kids.

Have you not looked at the different spices we make? We make medicine basically... Check out the names of the different spice trees.

Cons of logging into this game:
1) Youre teaching little kids that its ok to kill innocent civilians, animals, players, & whatever living entity I forgot to mention.
That logic doesnt stand. Either this is a fantasy world where real world people recognize the difference between real life murder & simulated pretend murder or its something completely different altogether and we all share equally the grave social consequences for participating by logging in and engaging in any sort of combat at all.
