Probably safest to not let them know it was me that mentioned Guam. They don't like me here much.

In discussing on my galaxy's forum howloot/quest items in ToOWbeing non-tradeable is not a good thing, a fellow Smuggler made an excellent point: If armor and weapons in the new expansion are not tradeable, that means they cannot be sliced. Currently, this is the case in Beta.
I know that things change between Beta and Live, but apparently TH has already stated that the items are non-tradeable by design...to prevent spammers from diminishing their inherent "special" value as quest items. So it looks like the stuff which is currently non-tradeable in Beta will be non-tradeable in Live...which means we will not be able to slice those items either.
I won't get into all the other reasons that making items non-tradeable is generally a bad idea, but I sure would like to hear what SOE has to say on how non-tradeable items adversely affects our profession. While my concern lies with the Smuggling Profession, it is notjust our profession who is hurt by this.Master Entertainers (for example) who don't have the CL to take on the queststhemselves will be unable to either trade with a high-CL friend or simply purchase the Entertainer-specific loots...effectively blocking them from content as well.
Can you look into this for us Wes?

My understanding of it is that not only are they not tradable, they are not sliceable (even by the possessing smuggler) and power-ups will not attach. (and we've discussed this in a few threads already, but more is always fine - more visibility, for what it's worth).
so even if we get the items ourselves through completing the mission we cant slice it ?
well, thats...thats just silly imo. My god what are they thinking ?

I know in the beta forums they discussed making slicing available in the trade window. This would alleviate the problem, though I do not think it will get in for thelaunch date.
It's been discussed for awhile. Since you're on the beta boards, perhaps you can suggest that if they go through with the publish these items could be added to the list of things that can only be traded via Smugglers like they talked about IC.
Honestly, judging by the situation with schematics, crafters, and the last expansion, this is how they want it. New content to them = quest rewards. They're trying to force people to buy the expansion to get that content instead of being able to buy it off another player. Money is the bottom line in this decision.
Was actually taking the 'other side' in my home galaxy forum, Eclipse. Actually commented how perhaps no trade is a good thing, and discussed why. Some can see that point of view, others can't.
I will try bringing the conversation up again on the beta boards. I have a way of getting people's attention, not always a good way, but a way. ![]()
Ok, seems you can at least add PUPs now to weapons in beta, so that is a good change. I couldn't before ![]()
Post made regarding the slicing, already getting views and responses. I will try to play nice.

Spammers don't diminish a quest item's "special" value. The fact that EVERYONE and their mother can get said quest item diminishes the "special" value. Spammers just piss people off.
