Well, I figure the slicing changes have been in long enough that some people have experimented with the Critical Hit mod on weapons, but I can't find any posts about detailed findings so far...
To me, if you already havea nice high level weapon with capped damage, low SAC, and decent speed, the critical hit slice is the way to go. That 10% chance at extra (doube? 20%? I've read conflicting reports on just what +CRITICAL+ does anyways...) damage sounds awfully nice...
Just wondering if anybody has gone ahead and attempted this yet, and messed around with it in the actual game...

I'm fairly sure that you don't need to use any special attacks to take advantage of this slice.
In other words, ANY attack will now have a 10% chance of hitting as critical.
Well, with the top level slice, that is.

Of course, there have been reports that this slice is broken and isn't actually doing anything right now...

does it stack with the improved chance that you get when doing the critical shot of a MBH? I tend to get +CRITICAL+ at least 3 times an encounter already.

I believe it will increase your chance to get a Critical when used with Critical Shot.

It works with any attack, I've used it quite a bit. I believe the critical from Crit Shot from Bounty Hunter adds 25% damage when you get a +Critical+ so I assume the slicing crit would be the same.
So far I have seen no additional damage from a +Critical+ and others seem doubtful that its actually adding any extra damage as well. I don't see any extra damage in the combat spam, floating numbers, or by visual comfirmation on the health bars of the targets. I have NOT done a mouseover of the target's health so MAYBE it does work, but it sure doesn't look like it.
I'm a carbineer and when fighting lower level mobs I often use full auto area to kill multiple weak mobs at once. The area attack counts as separate attacks on each target so some can be crit while others won't. When this happens I've looked at the health bars of the crit and non-crit targets. The health bars appeared to be identical. This is on low level mobs where an extra 25% would definitely be noticeable. Its my hunch crits aren't working.
I looked at the numbers though, and if 25% extra damage is true then I'm no longer a fan of the critical slice. If you consider you can get the +8% damage, 2% speed, and +3% crit slice in place of 10% crit I think I'm sticking with 8/2/3 instead.
I don't know if the % stacks with Crit Shot, though I believe that's the intended effect. I'm not a BH so I couldn't say.
Hope that helps.

I think maybe I'll have to slice a cheap weapon up to level 2 and do some numeric comparisons.
I'm not liking this "It's not working" stuff I'm hearing, but I wouldn't be surprised...

Well at least it says +Critical+ above their heads and that feels really cool! I can scream "I JUST CRIT YOU FOO!!!" and it feels good whether there's any extra damage or not.

I dunno whats wrong with you, but I get a damage boost from a critical hit.

Incidentally, I just tested this.
I had two levels of damage and two levels of crit. chance put on my featherweight FWG5, and I got the +critical+ over the heads of mobs even when using attacks (like ranged shot and improved leg hit) that don't have any innate chance to crit. THAT part is working. The critical hit doesn't do any more damage than the attack would have done by default (without the slice), though. The only critical hits that do more damage, for me, are those that I get when I used the crit. shot from BH.
I hope they get this working right, soon.
