Thread: rate on slicing?

I know it's more of a personal thing on how you set your rates, but on naritus I don't see another smuggler but maybe once a week or so. Up till now I was doing 3k a slice or a full suit for 25k, except yesterday I saw one smuggler advertise 8k a slice and anotherone was spamming for 15k.. As all I have to do for master is do the spice tree (which I'm doing today) I jus came to realize if I advertise with 3k with my master tag I'll get swamped with business...
Any thoughts? This is more or less "what's the prices on your server" I guess..

i charge 5k per item on Eclipse. and i am considered one of the cheaper Smugglers.
if i get tied up and a line forms, my price skyrockets

5k is cheap considering that you pretty much can ask what you want, Eclipse might be one of the must populated galaxies, but we have fewer smugglers then most galaxies.
Personally my rates are alot higher then 5k, as i don't charge cash, if you want slices from me you gotta be creative, give me a decorative item for my housethen i might slice.

maybe we should set up a thread and give ppl a chance to look and see what the average price for a slice on a certain server would be.......whos up for a lot of research!

I charge 10k per weapon/armor piece
Although I do give a discount for sets, such as 30k for a 4-piece armor set
+5k for a slice over 30%
-5k for a slice under 20%

I kinda like that idea. I've been charging 10k per slice. But most people on Flurry have been spoiled by the cheap slicing in the past, and the hologrind glut. Now there are very few smugglers left.
If a customer complains, I just say I'll match whatever price the local doctor is charging for buffs. That usually shuts people up.

not a master yet, so i go 4k per. when i hit master i plan on moving that up to 5k per. i don't discount unless you make me like you. like the guy that gave me fish. i might go to 10k if people start annoying me overmuch once i'm master.

I charge 5k per item. But sometimes I'll slice for free or tell them to pay what they feel the slice was worth. Some pay me and some don't. Most of the slicing I do come from contracts.
Other than contract slicing I slice for friends mostly and I never charge them. Some pay some don't.

I've grown to despise Slicing in its current form. Therefore, when I do get cornered for Slicing (usually after I log in and haven't taken the time to make sure I'm /anon and untagged, or if I am anon but tagged and riding through Cnet), my price is 10k per item.
If they accept that's great, if they choose to wait on the next sucker to come along, that's fine to.
What I absolutely HATE are the idiots who not only don't like the price, but then proceed to lecture me on why my prices are too high. They usually base this on 2 arguments:
1) "Back when I was a Smuggler..."
or...
2) "I know another guy who..."
Either one of them usually elicits a smart-ass remark from me and a quick /addignore Idiot.
My TIME is worth 10k per slice. If people don't like it, they can wait for the next guy who's time is worth less to them.

10k flat fee if they are polite.
My price goes up if they are rude or like Deven I hear those fatal words but my favorite is "I used to be a Master Smuggler and I know ..."
A.) slicing isn't random
B.) tool quality does matter
C.) that what I asked for isn't an exploit, just do it
D.) 35% is not the highest you can get
