With the revampon the focus of player smuggling has anyone mentioned consequences? Here a are a couple of random thoughts for the community to add to:
I was wondering if it was possible to implement a prison system into the SWG sort of like the instanced missions (i.e. Corellian Corvette). If a smuggler was actually caught smuggling by theopposite faction (imp/reb/hutt/planet factions) of your employer or bounty hunter (if he doesn't blast you)why shouldn'the/she go to a prison. Based on the severity of the crime you could but a time limit on the sentence to say 10 min-2 hours.
Now you would have to have a mini-game inside of prison so the boredom doesn't set in but you could also set up a jail break. This could be similar to a faction base where another smuggler is needed to slice a terminal or a commando is needed to set a charge.
The more times you go to prison the longer your visit. The more times you escape the more exposure you have to detection of that faction/planet. This could actually lead to "death sentences" in "X" amount of systems.
Just a couple of thoughts I will add some more down the road once I think about this a little longer. Please feel free to comment on these. If I did not make anything clear please ask and I will try to explain in more detail.
NOTE: With this system I really think that the payouts should be comparable to the BH Mission payouts.

That's a kind of cool idea, but the forced time sink is a bit of a problem. With all the other time sinks in the game, you can pretty much choose to undertake them when you want (like when you are wounded, you can not get healed and go run errands instead, and get healed later). If you're in prison, you basically can't do anything else until you are released, and not everybody has that kind of time to hang around and wait it out. Also if you happened to not have the right equipment with you, the jailbreak might not be possible.

I am strongly against this idea! I am more of a casual player, if I get put in jail I'm going to bed and spending the time AFK. I would be more inclined to accept a time-span where I am not allowed to slice or make and use spices. At least then I can go and do other things in the game like check my harvesters.

Ok let me define this further. The time frame is open for discussion. 10 min - 2 hours were soem numbers I just through out to get something on the table. What if we placed NPC informants into the prisons to give more missions for his boss on the outside or information. The time limit could be the same as the shuttle time to get out of there. Is the time the only issue? I wanted tomake it a challenge and everyone WANT to go to prison.

I can't think of a single thing that would make me want to go to prison.
I personallyhave never cared for the prison idea, as it forcefully relocates the player to twiddling their thumbs. They should always be able to do something and enjoy the game as they can.
Removing the illegal items from them if caught, to a new holding location to be retrieved is fine. They can go on their way immediatly and choose whether or not they want to go and retrieve the items. Paying appropriate fines, etc.
Keeping them from doing illegal activities for a time, is also acceptable. Though I would personally find it a bit overbearing as most likely I'll have to just stand around and do nothing, waiting for that timer to go away. That is really boring, I'd rather have need to travel somewhere or talk to someone.

I agree. I am also more of a casual player, and even if I weren't, I don't think I could back any form of prison in the game.

perhaps it could be linked to only certain activitys
allowing you to choose to do the crime andrisk the time
(but we all know anything is legal as long as you dont get caught
)

Thanks for the feedback guys. Ok let's throw the timed sentence out the window. However I would like to see something to the effect of a cloning trip to a prison building on the planet if we are caught. We have to pay a fine, can't slice for 3 min's, or some other sort of penalty. I am just trying to put in some kind of challenge into the smuggling aspect of the game instead of a fieldscan TEF/Fine.

If this came about I could then sing "Escape from the Prison Planet" from Clutch while I was beaking out......

If you get caught and get away, you're fine. If you get caught and killed, you clone. Not really a difference in this case except with one, you go to a cloning center and with the other you go to a prison. Don't really like the timer on when skills can be used again, either.

I think the challenge and risk for Smugglers will come from the ideas currently being discussed in the two HUGE Contraband & Smuggling Missions threads.

Have you ever played a game where you get imprisoned? Well what about being imprisoned and not immediately being able to break out? There's a reason characters in video games don't get locked away in prisons. It's boring! And having everyone in this game be able to break out just as quickly as they went in seemsvery unrealistic and stupid, especially when you know you could just diein order to activate aclone somewhere else.
I'd rather not haveprisons in the game. Let the Stormtroopers, Bounty hunters andJabba Enforcers try and kill me instead.
