Make sure that SLK guy and other BH's who think of only their professionknow that smugglers will NOT stand for the exploit of posture-up to bring us out of Feign is put back in.

With how feign death currently works It needs a counter, just position up is an ass-backwards approach to it in my opinion. Yet the devs working on the combat revamp seemed approving of position up at the summit...

That's a very concise and good answer to all the FD debates. I like that system. Plus if when we where fd'd we appeared to be corpses then the player might buy it as they recived faction.

Heh I beta'd WoW...

Wasn't that impressed. It's like playing chutes and ladders after mastering chess. Sure my chess board has some broken pieces and a few don't move because some jackass glued them down, but it's still chess.

I hadn't actually thought about it, but making BH missions automatically successful when a Jedi Feigns-Death makes a lot of sense. The BH reports to his boss that the Jedi is dead, and the BH gets paid. Granted, the Jedi didn't *actually* die, so whether he should lose xp is debateable.

Hey Caylin, don't know if suggestions are being taken for the FD discussion, but it seems to me an easy way to fix FD is to address it on the front side, which is to say tweak the process of feigning death. I've had times when I unsuccessfully FD'd, wouldn't it be easy and more logical to address this problem in the roll to successfully FD?

Since the problem seems to be in jedi/BH one on one battles, so how about a situation where you initiate the skill and the system makes a check to see if you succeed. You would get modifiers based on your skill and the attacker would get modifiers based on their skill (i.e. Investigation), and the result would be whether you succeed in FD. If you succeed, the attacker believes you are dead and that's it. If you fail, then battle continues and you can try again, but say if you try again within a short period of time you get a negative modifier since the attacker already saw through your ruse.

I know FD doesn't have a 100% success rate already, so it makes sense to address it in this way. It doesn't make sense to change the behavior of the skill once it has successfully performed since if you have succeeded in FD, then they think you're dead, right? I have no problem with tweaking the success rate of initiating the skill, but it doesn't make sense to tweak it after it has been done. It seems to me this will ruin it, because then all the attacker will do is keep trying to defeat it until they do and then kill you, and since you probably FD because you were going to die, you are at their mercy and the skill has essentially rendered useless for it will only be a temporary reprieve as the attacker will just camp the corpse and keep hitting you with Posture Up until it works and given enough time it will, so in effect the skill will become useless.

It makes more sense and seems fair to change the success rate of performing the skill, than the nature of the skill.

My idea for Feign Death has always been like this:

Novice Smuggler - +5 Feign Death (5 Feign)

DF1 - +10 Feign Death (15 Feign)

DF2 - +15 Feign Death (25 Feign)

DF3 - +20 Feign Death (45 Feign)

DF4 - +30 Feign Death (75 Feign)

Master Smuggler - +50 Feign Death (125 Feign)

For a total of +125 Feign Death at Master.

Plus for BH Missions - Not sure how they'd delegate it out to who has the missions. But if a Jedi Feigns, the BH in combat with him with a mission wins the mission, the Jedi loses maybe 25% of the normal XP he'd lose if he incapped/died and the mission is over. Vise-versa if a BH feigns while in combat with a Jedi, the BH loses the mission and the mission is reset. The Jedi can go about their own way, and neither party can attack the other.

What Feign should do PROPERLY is break combat and TEF's. So as a reward for PVP, a Feigning Smuggler should lose FP, but not die.

That is how I feel Feign should work.

This is OK, except it misses just a few issues. 1. If Smugglers end up on the BH terimals, what the heck do we care if we lose faction? There needs to be some impetus for us to not feign if we can avoid it. What that is, I don't know. 2. FD needs to be fixed, no more being targetted after death. 3. BH are very powerful, they need to be balanced. To balance them, let them appear on the terminals if they fail a mission. And FD for a BH automagically fails the mission.

As an alternative of position up, take a look at THIS post if you can and tell me what you think...this is coming from a MBH.

Actually I have to disagree here, I don't think it needs to be "fixed" with a counter, at least not more than anything else in this profession. Since we didn't get anything during the last year is clear that the devs only want to do it "all at once", so be it, until they revamp this profession, I don't see why this should get any attention.

There's already a counter, isn't there? Can't Feign while stunned, right? Just keep your target stunned.
