Anyone else noticing the trend that when Jedi are involved everyone screams nerf?

I'll tell you what I do notice, and that's everytime the Jedi are involved, everyone else has to suffer....

You know what I noticed. BH aren't going to be happy until they can group together, hunt anyone, have better weapons and specials than everyone, and no one else is allowed to buff or wear armor. They are a bunch of PK loserboys from all I've gotten out of their forum. It is sad that for ONE profession we are going through all this. I take it back, smugglers should never be on the terminals. Who wants to deal with that?

Ok, I am a BH. Thus, by definition, I am a PKing loserboy with overpowered specials, weapons and abilites

But aside from all that: The problem with FD is certainly not the Smugglers use of it, and I am a bit annoyed it will have bad repercussions for a profession that is already rather low in the overall food chain. However, the Jedi/BH interaction has grown to be a major part of the PvP game, since so many Jedi appeared now. And yes, unfortunately whenever Jedi seem to discover a backdoor, a lot of other profs have to suffer.

Now, the Stun argument is so-so, not every profession can stun, especially not the BH/MasterPistoleer template that seems to be one of the originally intended "real" Hunter templates. Also, a fight shouldnt depend on your def.vs.stun. Posture up... I dont know, dont like it.

I would suggest to give Jedi half the exp loss on a FD. It has to hurt, or its a cheap way out, and really, is it to be encouraged to have Jedi specifically dabble in smuggler? I did not think that was the idea.

Be that as it may, I am opposed to any further nerfs for normal professions because of the Jedi system, it has been too much already. I hope breaking FD doesnt become a luxury of the Rifleman prof alone.

Ahh.. good. I was hoping one of those loserboys would respond . I was tired and angry, next time I'll save that post for the next day.

On to your response:

I've actually posted a number of times that fixing FD to work correctly and giving the Jedi 1/2 the exp loss they would get if they were res'd by a doctor, plus giving the BH the successful mission was a working alternative. It makes FD a reasonable strategy for the young Jedi. But it doesn't address BH's using this ability (which they did long before Jedi took it up). As it stands now, a BH has nothing to lose by feigning and waiting for his friends to arrive and then grouping and ganking the Jedi.
I've offered, in response to that imbalance, the suggestion that FD fails the mission if the BH uses feign. However I can still see this being abused by bounty-hunters. One guy takes a mission, tracks down the Jedi, feigns.. then his buddy grabs the mission and a few friends. As a balance to this, I've suggested that failed bounty missions give the BH a chance of ending up on the terminals himself. This would limit abuse of the FD skill. We could even say that failing from FD risks a BH ending up on the terminals, but not failing otherwise. I'm not sure what balance will work there. but there has to be some negative side to BH using feign.

Of course, FD needs to be fixed as well. The combat flag needs to be unset, the body needs to appear dead, etc.

I think most of us understand the problems that the FD ability brings to this missions, what got me personally upset were mainly two things.

First, maybe it was just during my time on these boards, but as far as I remember BHs and Smugglers were able to talk to each other, which may be because our characters have some things in common or just how they are connected, just think about the threads about smugglers on BH terminals, we often had the opinions and suggestions from both sides in there. Yet while BHs are upset that they can't finish their jedi missions, even though not all of them but some use the ability themself, thanks too FD they ask for counters or nerfs on their boards instead of coming to us to find a solution on how to solve this which is best for both of us.

The second thing is that going by my two main professions, smuggler and pistoleer, I have never seen the devs make a skill better again once they nerfed it. Keep in mind that many ask for smuggler bounty missions, right now a smuggler that doesn't have a real combat template will have no chance because we currently have no other skills to get away and while we will probably be attacked out of the blue, the bounty hunter most certainly will get buffs and equip his armor before he goes hunting. So if they make such missions and don't add skills for us at the same time that give us a chance to get away, and that's something that really wouldn't surprise me if it happened, FD might be our only chance.

In addition, if you take the RP part of it, I would say this skill is not ment to be broken by anything, think about it, this guy plays dead, it's like in the movies where the people run out of the burning house just before it crashes, when they come back after the fire, the corpse of the guy they shot inside is gone, so there is no real proof he is dead, on the other hand, how could he have got away? Or another example, lets say Boba shot at someone and this guy falls down with the face to the ground, he seems dead, Boba may come closer, kick him but certainly to check if he is dead is no reason to waste energy on him. In addition, he probably killed this guy with one shot, that's a nice proof of accuracy, why mess it up with another useless shot?

I do agree so, Jedis should have half the xp loss when they FD and the bounty hunter should succeed on his mission. On the other hand, if the BH feigns, the mission should fail.

Coincidentially, none of the BHs that I know or talk to uses FD, but then I only know the FarStar community (and we also have a GCW going, so I suppose we are all weird), mainly since it costs a whole lot too many skillpoints, and those are needed badly to be competitive against the current jedi.

Either way, if a BH feigns, sure, end the mission. Putting the hunter on terminals would be part of the whole player missions idea, currently its not easy to implement it as the BH profession is much, much weaker than Jedi especially when the hunter as the surprise. Also, since there is no loss to being killed as BH, since it is just a normal profession, it would just give easy credits.

I suppose the easiest quick-fix would be that neither Jedi nor Bounty Hunter ever believes a FD in the mission that connects them. If you got a mission TEF, you cant successfully FD against people who have it, IE the hunter/his group, or the jedi/his group.

Yes we are weird

Personally I would prefer the first solution, the mentioned quickfix above would sure help now, but if smuggler missions appear they would have to "refix" it to something else and since they didn't even assign someone to fix the latest bug they produced for us, which we already warned them of on testcenter and was promised not to go live, I don't have really faith in them to remember that.

I agree. But instead of position up, IHMO it should be on a timer based on the players level of FD.

The way I believe Feign Death should work is like this.

Novice brawler and Marksmen get a +5 to spot us.

Bounty Hunters get another +5 (for a total possible skill of +10).

The smuggler hits feign death, in either PvP or PvE. They make a skill check roll with a minus of the target's spot level.

If they make the skill check, they aren't spotted, and they're untouchable. They are "Dead." Mobs leave them alone. Players can't do a damn thing. IF they DON'T make it, then they get hit. HARD. Maybe give smugglers a higher check to feign death. Perhaps give CM's and Doctors a "quick check" skill that gives them a huge bonus to detect us, but takes a LOT of time (leaving them vulnerable to attack in the process).

This way we get what WE want and it's not unstoppable.
