...and if so how can rez it?

I've been reading that WoW and EQ2 would kill SWG since I started playing a year and a halfago. Now that they are out I don't know how right or wrong the nay sayers were.

In any case- What do my fellow Smuggler's think and what 3 things do you think need to happen to save it?

I think a very small majority ofStar Warsfans and gamersare trying WoW and EQ2. Or even swapping for that matter.

However, your run of the mill power gamers, general MMO crowd that don't care what they're playing, and your people that have an interest in the wizards, elves, orcs, goblins, undead, and ring crowd is swapping or trying out WoW and EQ2 in droves.

But like I said, your true Star Wars only fans or people that have an attatchment to SWG in some form aren't even bothering with WoW/EQ2.

But I could be wrong.

Oh, and to answer the title question...

"No" it's not dead. Andthe peoplewhoare raving aboutWoWor EQ2but yet have time to come onto these forums just to troll thatopinion arethe ones that arebitter over soemthing that happened in SWG and can't handle it like a responsible person. They feel some need to come back for validation or to take shots at the game that hurt them so bad.

And there is a way to be bitter or cynical about SWG without trolling about it. It's called constructive criticism. Any forum or product has it floating around.

I'm a long time Smuggler and I'll be that until I quit SWG in the distant future (if I even do) even with all that we've endured. Simply because I enjoy the game.

If someone isn't happy with SWG because of whatever reason, go a head and quit. Less whiners and trolls for me to deal with. When the Combat Upgrade hits, the servers will be full as I want them to be again. I don't need Coronet starport flooded with 200 players to prove that my game isn't dead, that's just a pain in the ass.

I'll see how things stand after the combat upgrade. Everything hinges on that for most people.

I don't think either of those games was a SWG killer though. I'll never touch EQ2 and WoW was pretty boring to me. I need a complexity level that WoW just couldn't satisfy.

Well, I think- If all these people DO gravitate to these other games- it might be easier to get some serious role play outta the remaining people.

I haven't logged on much myself recently but that's because my time priorities have shifted from the game and onto other things. Now that I'm starting to play a lil' bit again I'm mostly in space. I haven't even tried to rejoin my guild (which recreated itself when JTL came along).

I guess I'm really laying low till the GCW and CU revamps come along- but secretly I really am excited for a smuggler revamp that may or may not ever happen.

Well I know that I don't speak for everyone on this, but I've cancelled twice already, even went out and played EQ2 for awhile...meh (lol)

I have to say, this game simply offers so much more, maybe in potential (CU) but simply the character customization alone beats most games. The wide open structure of quests etc just seemed more immersive in hat aspect, rather than the shaped "every NPC starts a new quest" aspect of EQ2 kinda got old for me fast.

Yes SWG needs much work but I have returned and am happy ever since. But I have to say, I am biased... I love Star Wars... the lore, the environment, everything. JTL helped me pull that together just by cruising around in my ship...excellent. And I'll take anything that closly resembles it

If we don't start hearing about a smuggler revamp SOON then, for me, SWG will breath it's last breath.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Two years of "Soon"(TM), a harsh bunch of lies.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie"

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Dancers can't smuggle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply: "Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie."

My brother has a friend trying out WoW. He says it looks pretty good, but I think SWG will survive becuase of this:

You can get a house, buy furniture, have pets, make weapons and armor, and pretty much be anything you want to be. What other game offers you the chance to be a chef or tailor(some people like sitting around and crafting I guess)? Plus, they introduced a completely different type of game with JTL. I think the diversity will keep this game alive.

Plus, who wouldn't jump at the chance to travel THE deserts of Tatooine? Or walk up the stairs of THE Theed Palace? Like previous posts said, this game is made for Star Wars fans.

Dead? Depends on your point of view.

The game for me is dead, for now at least. The 3 things I did to improve my experience was to

1) Cancel my SWG account

2) Open a WoW account

3) Play WoW

I am a huge Star Wars fan and this was a very sad decision to make but I'll be honnest, it was not WoW that made me do this. Not by a longshot (Wato would say).

It was my broken profession. The lack of any positive feedback, the constant delays and pushing back. The absolute silence from the devs on the many questions raised on this forum. The fact that there is so many Jedi in this era that there shouldn't be more than 4.

-> A smuggler in SWG is not what a smuggler in Star Wars should be.

So to all I wish you happy holidays and I hope the new year brings us the Smuggler upgrade. And I hope the combat upgrade is succesful.

Take care!

Anyone who rests theircontinuing game existance on their one chosen profession is going to be a unsatisfied and very hard to please. Take Solo4114 and ElectronicNomad for an example. I respect both of those guysgreatly for their contributions andview pointsand I don't blame them one bit for leaving.

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying the game to play one particular profession or a combination of professions. That's just preference. But it's what you do in game and what you can do that makes the experience.

But the fact still remains that Star Wars Galaxies is so much more than "what my profession can/can't do" and if anyone is totally focused on that, they'll be very hard to please.

If someone is playing the game strictly to Smuggle and to be a true Smuggler to evade contraband checks and the like, they need to cancel until the Smuggler revamp. Simply put, there's no reason for anyone to hold out for something that's on an indefinite delay because it's just going to create a bad view of the overall game experience.

MMOs are like life: you just can't live for onesole thing or you will be very disappointed.

Not dead for me...

Guild is growing. RP is getting better. My best friends are still around.

I am not an MMO'er. I love Starwars. That got me into the game. I stick cuz of the people. AND because pretty much I have fun everytime I log in. I don't fixate on my broken profession, although I am not blind to the weaknesses. I know there are problems. But there are also GREAT achievements in this game. The scope is breathtaking. And sure JTL got a little old after mastering... But it opened a whole other place to play. And flying can be a great thing to do when noone is really on guild.

I like Warcraft...and I have played WoW on a friends account once. It wasn't awful by any means. But it sure as heck wasn't starwars. I'm happy. I'll be here a while.
