Thread: Is SWG dead?

I don't think either of those games was a SWG killer though. I'll never touch EQ2 and WoW was pretty boring to me. I need a complexity level that WoW just couldn't satisfy.

I'll see how things stand after the combat upgrade. Everything hinges on that for most people.

I have to say, this game simply offers so much more, maybe in potential (CU) but simply the character customization alone beats most games. The wide open structure of quests etc just seemed more immersive in hat aspect, rather than the shaped "every NPC starts a new quest" aspect of EQ2 kinda got old for me fast.
Yes SWG needs much work but I have returned and am happy ever since. But I have to say, I am biased... I love Star Wars... the lore, the environment, everything. JTL helped me pull that together just by cruising around in my ship...excellent. And I'll take anything that closly resembles it

It was my broken profession. The lack of any positive feedback, the constant delays and pushing back. The absolute silence from the devs on the many questions raised on this forum. The fact that there is so many Jedi in this era that there shouldn't be more than 4.
-> A smuggler in SWG is not what a smuggler in Star Wars should be.
So to all I wish you happy holidays and I hope the new year brings us the Smuggler upgrade. And I hope the combat upgrade is succesful.
Take care!
Anyone who rests theircontinuing game existance on their one chosen profession is going to be a unsatisfied and very hard to please. Take Solo4114 and ElectronicNomad for an example. I respect both of those guysgreatly for their contributions andview pointsand I don't blame them one bit for leaving.
I don't think there's anything wrong with buying the game to play one particular profession or a combination of professions. That's just preference. But it's what you do in game and what you can do that makes the experience.
But the fact still remains that Star Wars Galaxies is so much more than "what my profession can/can't do" and if anyone is totally focused on that, they'll be very hard to please.
If someone is playing the game strictly to Smuggle and to be a true Smuggler to evade contraband checks and the like, they need to cancel until the Smuggler revamp. Simply put, there's no reason for anyone to hold out for something that's on an indefinite delay because it's just going to create a bad view of the overall game experience.
MMOs are like life: you just can't live for onesole thing or you will be very disappointed.

Not dead for me...
Guild is growing. RP is getting better. My best friends are still around.
I am not an MMO'er. I love Starwars. That got me into the game. I stick cuz of the people. AND because pretty much I have fun everytime I log in. I don't fixate on my broken profession, although I am not blind to the weaknesses. I know there are problems. But there are also GREAT achievements in this game. The scope is breathtaking. And sure JTL got a little old after mastering... But it opened a whole other place to play. And flying can be a great thing to do when noone is really on guild.
I like Warcraft...and I have played WoW on a friends account once. It wasn't awful by any means. But it sure as heck wasn't starwars. I'm happy. I'll be here a while.
QFE!
