I noticed the tantalizingly innocuous thread, "She is *so* (edited here to correct title) Precious" is "locked." Now, what does this mean? I assume it is something you do to threads you don't like, if you're a mod, but why not just delete it? Locking it, as I see, only stops further discussion on the issue, but allows everyone to see what was discussed...which, brings up the one question I won't ask for fear of being banned or something, is why was it locked?

I am merely asking for clarification on forum posting protocol and not in anyway criticizing the fabulous SOE and it's hard-working and honorable employees, OR making any reference to the byproduct of adding yeast, sugar and hops in distilled water and generally round shaped baked goods with crust and filled with cherries, apple, cream, boysenberries, huckleberrys, rhubarb, beef, chicken, cashews, curry, pork, duck, duck, goose, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, currants of all kinds, pears, peaches, plums, nectarines, lemon, key lime (or any other lime) and crow.

I'm glad I didn't ask that question then, and just wanted to *know* what locked means in general.

I'm beginning to think oblique speak is the new order of the day, which is to say, saying absolutely nothing about something in particular which we both know we are talking about is the safest way to be...and, in fact, is appropriately smuggler/criminal...think of Gotti and other denizens of the underworld who never really say specifically what they are talking about...you know?

I honestly have no idea why they lock threads. TYPICALLY however, if a moderator has posted something in the thread, they lock it so people can read their response.

Like when someone posted a thread that was basically, "Why don't the Devs care about us?" Garva responded with, "The Devs do care, this post serves no purpose, it will be locked! No SOUP for you!"

Yeah, we need to mangle the language SO bad that they have to really WORK at finding out what we're saying.

I still maintain though that until the devs actually give us SMUGGLING content the mods should just leave us alone to our beer, pie and occasional non-Smuggler visitor.

Why don't we use the simple Opposite Rule? We say the opposite of what we mean...if we don't like it, we say we love it...and such...it's a lot simpler than something like our own L33t sp3k.

I believe the word you are looking for is "Uvula."

I seriously do hate budweiser. That crap tastes like urine. In fact, all the big domestic beerslike Coors, Miller, Bush, etc taste like piss. How anyone can drink a beer they can see through will always be beyond my understanding.

Sometimes threads that were perfectly fine and even constructive can degrade into flaming and stuff. Then I like to see a thread locked rather than deleted.

I really don't know why that one thread was locked, though. And as far as "staying on topic goes," maybe if we had anything smuggler-related to discuss--ever--we'd be able to do that.

But you know what, beer and pie or whatever else seems as relevant to smuggling as illegal booster cores or our unarmed requirements or whatever.
