Thread: Spice Refinment Kits

Not sure if this has been thought of before or not, but it is an idea I like.

What ifcrime faction NPC's ( Nym, Jabba, Valaria ) couldgive usrefinement kitsthat allow us to take limited resources ( such as Sith resources and/or random loot ) and refine them into limited use schematics to manufacture the spice?

The refinement packs can act as containers such as loot kits.

Each refinement kit is different and NPC's will drop the needed items, much like loot kits. But only have like 5-8 items per kit. When we assemble the kit we get a schematic in our datapad where we can make a small factory run (max 250 aka 10 crates) of given spice.

We could turn the schematics into the crime faction NPC's that gave us the refinement kit missions for credits, experience, and possiblepositive faction.

-or-

We could turn the schematic into a factory and sell the spice.

This is a small alternative to the current spice tree. In my opinion, if we replace the spice line with access to higher spice kit missions, it would make me feel more like a smuggler. If nothing else, allow us to get rid of the spice line and acquire some other skills to replace it.

But for the current way our profession is, they could add those spices they mentioned a few months back as refinement kit spices.

What does everyone think?

In my opinion this is a small addition that would add more content to smugglers only. And I do not think it would take long to impliment, just maybe 10 new loot drops and a few new NPC's and some conversation text.

Regardless people will loot it and we all know we have money. If anything, we have friends that would probably be willing to get a cut of the spice if they supply parts

I would much rather do missions for spice, interacting with many many many underworld figures. I'd like my NPC faction to mean something in this regard. I'd like to still have a chance to CRAFT my spice with a plain ol' factory and craft kit. But that's just me.

The only part I don't care for is the loot drops. I hate farming mobs because that's exactly what it feels like I'm doing. If I'm looking for a spice deal, I go to the sources using my connections and try to either find a way to 'aquire' or bargain with that faction in order to get what I want. I'd stil prefer working with npcs as a part of quest or minigame in where our faction could matter in order to get the spice we want, in the quantities we earned.

CorellianCowboy; "Despite the fact that I seem to have fairly good luck with loot, I for one do not want to have to kill 20,000 mobs before I can sell spice."

I for one simply do NOT want to sell drugs. I want to smuggle.

So I am dead set against ANTHING that is not smuggling ever added to our profession again. That includes frog bowls, gaming tables, blow-up sex dolls and even 'spice refinement kits'.

This is all a distraction from what we SHOULD be demanding endlessly and in a united voice.

If you want a new profession of Gambler/Druggie added to the game then ask for it, but let's try and make Smugglers actually SMUGGLE ok?

Spinning cloud...spice is one of the classic contrabands. For it to be smuggled by us, it has to COME from some where...would you rather it come through NPC's, other professions, or us? We can still smuggle it, but we can also be the makers and sellers all at the same time.

JTG; "For it to be smuggled by us, it has to COME from some where...would you rather it come through NPC's, other professions, or us?"

In a phrase?

Not us!

I suggested, long ago, that NPCs hand out spices to smugglers who then bring them to the player base. The higher level spice the more dangerous it is to get to the source. To get the best spices a smuggler would have to have the highest skills and the most fp of the criminal faction supplying that spice. The best spices would result in the greatest reward, the biggest risk and the largest bouties given to BHs.

I think that NPCs and other players should make products that have either been declared illegal OR have huge tarifs levied at starports for transport. The smugglers job is to bypass those restrictions.

Certain weapons that are perfectly legal to own are taxed heavily if they cross a starport for the first time. A smuggler's job is to bypass the starport successfully which removes the tarif 'flag' and allows a player to own it 'legally'.

But, yes, NPCs and OTHER professions should manufacture. Smugglers should SMUGGLE.

Right...so what's wrong with YOU (and/or combat smugglers) do the missions, obtain the raw spice, and sell it to ME (merchant/crafter smuggler). I refine it, and I sell it. How's that? You do what you want, I do what I want. We both feel like we're smuggling (because I honestly do not want to do NPC missions, but that's just a personal thing, and not what's best for the profession) and we both make money and we both have fun.

Well mainly because I can think of tons of stuff that is actually relelvant to smuggling that would replace 3 of our 4 branches.

Somehow I rather doubt they'll just double our skills. If it's a choice, and I believe it is, between having reall SMUGGLING skills and crafting then I'll take the smuggling related skills any time.

Well, that depends on what you have in mind and how feasible it is. I'm not saying it wouldn't be better and if it were I'd back it up in a heartbeat...however, we all know that the dev's like ideas that incorporate existing design. I'm just offering a compromise that would be simple and include all types of play in the smugglingcommunity.
