Thread: Has anyone else lost the will to really give a darn anymore?

After the announcement came across on Friday, and letting things settle out this weekend, I came into work and am still really bummed out by the change to Feign Death; well, not really the fact that it was changed, as we all knew it was going to happen, but more how the change came about, the lack ofcommunication about it, etc...

I was pretty passionate about this profession and game in the past, always hoping that we'd get our due, and that I'd finally get to play the profession I bought the game to play.

But today, looking at things, I just don't seem to have the energy to give a damn anymore. What we say falls on deaf ears, and we seem to suffer hits to our skills without any thought to compensate us in return. When I started smuggler, Muon and Pixie sold in large quantities, I could stick someone to the ground for 10 seconds with the Low Blow/Panic Shot combo, and I could at least hunt somewhat successfully on my own because Feign Death gave me a nice parachute/escape methodif I got well in over my head.

Now, I rely on the other professions I have to do anything in the game, as most of smuggler has become something out of a tortured nightmare of useless and broken skills. I have honestly thought about dropping what little smuggler I do have to get master doctor. And a month ago this thought would not have even entered my head as I was hell bent to keep what little smuggler I had, hoping that I would remaster when a revamp plan was announced.

I am utterly without hope at the moment, and am wondering if anyone else out there feels the same way? I mean - its going on 2 years of the game going live and we're in the worst shape we've ever been in. Nothing good has happened short of the faction point cap lifting, and that was done for the sake of the customers purchasing faction when the new GCW changes hit, not the smugglers; we were an accidental beneficiary.

So much for being positive, eh? How about this - I am positive we're going nowhere fast.

I'm not feeling particularly positive about the Smuggler profession either. I keep dreaming about dropping it and picking up something fun but I just can't bring myself to do it after being a Smuggler for so long.

I'm in the same boat with you Shren...

I just don't seem to care anymore. I'm still very passionate about the profession, but we've suffered so much in the past that I've become numb to any new nerfs. Kinda sad really...I wish I could still find it in myself to post with the fire that I used to have...but it's just not there anymore.

You know, it's a really sad day for the community when I see posts like this. I still have the fire guys, and I'll keep up the fight, I promise. When all of my drive has been sapped, I'll pass it on to another.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I'm there with you too, but I honestly came to face the reality that there's nothing else there that I'd rather be beyond the triple threat that I have.

I don't want to be uber leet dood BH or Jedi and have to put up with the proliferation of 4 year olds that seem to blight those professions. (Not knocking all Jedi or BH, I know plenty of well-rounded mature players in those professions, but they happen to be the exception and not the rule.)

I don't want to spend eons crafting and trying to get competitive in a market of crafters who are already established 12 point-ers.

I don't want to spend my life buffing players, or training pets.

I want to be a role-player, I want to be able to hold my own in a fight or make myself scarce if things get nasty.

In short, I want to be a Smuggler and I want to Smuggle.

If I can't have that, then I'm taking my money somewhere else, where I can pay to have fun, not pay to improve a game for others at the detriment of my own.

Actually I do - from a certain point of view.

I started out a few months after rwelease with every inmtentionof becoming a Master Ranger.

I made it and loved it except for the part abouot not being able to kill anything worthwhile and teh feeliongsd that casued i my about being able to support my guild and town.

I had to drop Master Ranger to become a Commando. After a couple months I made master and relly found out how th eComanod nerfs hurt that profession. I love being a Commando even if I am afraid of Njunas.

I then decided that I neededto compliment my Commando with another profession that was not only going tobe fun but also profitable.

So I decided to be a Smuggler.

I made it and regardless I still like the profession even if..

Ican't smuggle.

The splce trade is in the can

I can't do combat unless I kite a whole lot and I do not like runnig at all.

I got no underworld to cavort in.

Now Ican't fake it anymore.

The only thing left was slicing and now that contraban is being moved form the vendors I have no real market for my skills.

do y9ou seea pattern in the profs I select. I do so I am making everyone this promise. I will not oick up another prof. I think the devs are following me around and nerfing any prof I pick up. (I actually dabbled in BH but gave it up becasue I didn't have enough SP to master it.

The only option I have is to make my own "content" and I'm finding that is not easy to do without a ton of help.

I haven't logged in to the game since Friday.

After one more hit, it just doesn't seem worth it.

Dude, if that is the truth, I will PAY you to become a Jedi.

I have, in the past, toyed with the idea of going BH (not because of the player bounties),but didn't want to drop smuggler or pistoleer to do it. Over this lastweekend, I seriously considered becoming a BHpurely to hunt and kill Jedi.

Now that I'm feeling a bit less spiteful, I know I'll stick with smuggler. I dropped from master to 0040 once before because I wasn't using any other skills from the smuggler profession (except occassionally slicing with I dislike anyway), but I still went back to it just because "smuggler" is my character's identity and it felt wrong to be any less than master. That's why I'm sticking with it now, even though almost no abilities are left in the profession that I want.

I suppose I have lost the willto caretoo, but it's because no future nerfs to the smuggler profession will matter a damn to me, since there's nothing left now that I'd really care verymuch about losing.
