Thread: Slicing affecting the wear rate of a weapon or armor?

Sounds like an urban legend to me. I can't speak for weapons, but on the armor side this would be a huge contradiction to how wear is calculated. Armor drops in condition based on how much damage gets through it.Let me explain...
Say you have a set of 80% comp. armor and another set sliced to 90%. You take a shot for 100 damage while wearing the 80%. The light armor drops that to 50 damage, then we apply the 80%, and that brings it down 40 points. You have now taken 10 damage from that shot. and your armor has decreased by 10 condition points.
Now to contrast it, ou take a shot for 100 damage while wearing the 90%. The light armor drops that to 50 damage, then we apply the 90%, and that brings it down 45 points. You have now taken5 damage from that shot. and your armor has decreased by5 condition points.
Correct me if I am wrong on this, but it would seem by the numbers that a RoE slice on a piece of armor makes it decay more slowly.
Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking also. I am almost positive this rumor came around from people watching the durability of their weapons drop quicker because the gun was shooting faster or doing more damage after a slice. So then people applied this view to armor, which just doesn't make any sense.
I will take this point of view of it does NOT affect durabilityin-game until I see otherwise.

I think the decay thing is really that slicing the weapon drops the condition like 150 points and that's it.
That is what I always thought. Tho, I did test out decay once. I took a cdef pistol and used it to kill a Kreetle, while taking note of the condition before and after. It died after about 3 shots (I was just pistols 3 at the time) and the condition didn't change at all, but on the next kreetle I used a special and no matter which one I used it reduced the condition by one point per use. I then did the same thing with a (at the time) supposed sliced scout blaster and the same thing happened. Course, that was about a year ago
and I'm sure things have changed, if not a little
I'll have to test it out again now, you've made me curious.
