Thread: Smuggler delay
Yet another sad day. Smugglers are very irrate because they have been around since launch. Yet Jedi are getting a revamp before Smugglers?
Smugglers were initially looking forward to the Crackdown. Until it took away from them and gave some of their abilities to Imperials that had a certain rank.
Then some of their abilities were nerfed.
Now you are working so hard on JTL that you are neglecting an existing profession that has been around for a year. Can we expect a revamp when JTL comes out? Or will you guys be to busy sorting thru the bugs and balance issues in JTL instead?
These forums were changed and the reason give was to increase communication. Yet where is this increased communication? The standard anwer to a number of professions was "wait for the combat rebalance". That was suppose to come out in Feb. It's about six months behind schedule. Worse than that we have no information on it. We are told it's going to be "great", "dynamic", and a list of other impressive words. But we have not been given an info on it.
Once it come out there are going to be issues with it. Everyone knows that. With JTL coming out around the same time. With all those bugs. You are going to be so busy working on those that there is a very good chance Smugglers will get pushed back yet again.
No. The Smuggler revamp should have occurred BEFORE the Jedi revamp or JTL. They have been waiting a lot longer.
Very well spoken, Caylin. There's really nothing more I can say that hasn't already been said. This is why you've been the best correspondant that the best community can ask for.
I'd also like to add that the last paragraph summed up my thoughts and plans exactly. Thanks ![]()

Nick and Wookie...
How about you guys take all of that pent up anger and frustration and focus it in another direction? *points at the red name on the first post*
Nick, in your case, say whatever you feel is necessary...pretty much as you have been doing. You've put in as much constuctive work as any of the rest of us in order to try to get this profession to its proper place. You have a right to vent.
Wookie, I don't know anything about you. I'm not even sure if you're a smuggler or not, and figure you probably stumbled across this thread since it's in the DevTracker. However, that doesn't change the fact that you have a right to your opinion. I'd just like for you to review the history of our profession before you go saying that we don't have a right to be upset right now. You're a TKA, which I know very little about, and I hear very few complaints about the TKA profession (I had 2 friends who loved being TKAs) other than the occasional nerf cry.So, I'll make a deal with you...I won't come to your forum and tell you not to be upset about some aspect of your profession, and you don't come in here and tell us not to be upset by all the stuff that's happening (or in this case NOT happening) with our profession.
After a year, we've EARNED the right to be upset.
/salute
Indeed, Dreven. I think I overdid it a little bit on the first post on the first page. I even editted it a bit so it made some sense. But what was said was said and like DS said, this will pass and it is. Just venting frustration.
I respected your Day 1 status and forum presence (maybe not on the Smuggler forum), Wookiee and I still have my one-star ability for your posts because you had an OPINION and expressed it with a reason. So I respected it.
BUT...here you come and 1 star my post to Caylin that was short, nice, and had nothing wrong with it. THAT is just childish. I'm still saving my stars and if you want proof, i'll throw a 3-star up for you and show you.
Anywho, I'm not gonna argue. Like DS said, again, this thread should be about and directed at the red names that provide inadequate services month after month. 'nuff said.
It's a damn shame SOE never figured out that this game was less about economies and emotes and specials, and more about the people who populated its landscape. The best resources are not harvested or surveyed, but are a lasting part of the playerbase.
You know, this really does make you take a really hard look at the overall product, that is SWG. As I sit here at work and think about it, I began to realize that the only reason why I even continue to play is because of the people i've met in game. The lack of content, the abominable communication, and the numerous amounts of disappointments are starting to take their toll.
I've also noticed that i'm starting to spend less and less time in game. I consider myself a HUGE Star Wars fan, and an even larger advocate of the game....but not even I can continue to pay $15/mo for a shell of what could have been.
Im going to try and stick it out, but I dont need force sensitivity, to be able to see my future with this game.
Remember back to when no one really knew how you would become a jedi. Everyone had an idea, and were gunning for it, but there was no certainty. Did you need to become a fencer to improve your lightsaber wielding skills? Was it Teras Kasi Master for the martial arts aspect of Jedi? No, it was none of that. You could become a jedi with Chef/Tailor/Dancer/Image Designer/Politician. So we all went holo-grinding.
Now that we all know, now we know the difficulty. I'm sure SOE has seen the numbers drop precipitously. So what do they do? Focus on the one thing they know will keep people around and get people to join.
It should be no surprise to Smugglers that they shifted their focus. This is damage control, putting out the hottest fire first.

Here is a simple reason why Smuggler Revamp has been pushed back. The global appeal of becoming a jedi stretches throughout all professions and ALL reasons that people joined SWG in the first place. Read any gamer website or gamer magazine, and they will all speak, in article and editorial, that the biggest lament that people have is realizing the difficulty of becoming a jedi. That, more than anything, has led to a mass exodus from the game.

The only part of the jedi profession that affects every other profession is the holo-grind system. That should be changed, and changed quickly. However, what most people are complaining about - is the actual jedi revamp itself. They are "fixing" and "enhancing" a profession that not many people play before they fix the professions that have been in game since launch. That is where the beef is. Not so much in getting rid of the holo system (pub 10), but in their insistance on revamping jedi (pub 9) before the rest of the game. There is something wrong with that, and anyone whose not a jedi should be able to see that clearly.

I defiently think smugglers have the right to vent. However, Cailyn with all he's done has the most right to vent, yet he kept his mouth shut and wasn't rude. I hate to say it, but I thinkCailyn's way is much more constructive.I am kind of curios how he knew they were there past midnight (times for postings?).
I put all the developers I know of on my 'Friends' list.
This way I can monitor their comings and goings, as none of them use the 'private' status. This allows me to make focused posts for their attention when I know they are around. I tend to be on the forums more often at night, researching and working on things, than I do in the morning, and I tend to keep tabs of the comings and goings of others, particularly developers. When I see people like TH on the forums at 10pm my time (I'm on PST) that means hes still up doing things at midnight where he is. These guys do work hard, there is no doubt about that.

Is there anyway we can have a temporary fix to some of the obvious issues. We need something. For over 9 months we've been told that fixes were on the way but all we've seen are nerfs to Dirty Fighting tree? Can you understand the mixed message we as a community are seeing?
Why nerf Panic Shot if it wasnt hurting anyone?
If we are going to have to wait (again
) for a revamp can we have some short term fixes that would at least make playing SWG semi-fun again.

How about hiring more people to help? Or is SOE too greedy and stingy to spend 300k on 4 new employees salaries? They have made millions and millions of dollars off of us it shouldn't be that hard to give a little back.
