Maybe I have missed some posts of Caylin's where he says the future is dark and the sky is falling. From Caylin's retirement post dated 9/27/2004...

That says to me he is too busy in real life to be the correspondent or even to play the game, not that he knows some deep dark secret. There's a reason all smugglers have kept their profession and continue to stay smugglers and will stay smugglers through the revamp which could be God knows when now.


We stay because welove the game and because welove the idea of being a smuggler and we all have hopes that the revamp will make us what we have dreamed of being. I can't see anyone staying smuggler just so they can be mad everyday that the profession needs to be completed and things need to be fixed. There is always hope.


One of the hopes is that the next correspondent will be able to do the same great job representing us that Caylin has done. We know the revamp is months away, if we all spend out time complaining about it, it won't happen sooner. We have to be realistic with ourselves and admit that we have no clue when it is coming, and we hope it will be soon, and we hope it will be good. Until we are told otherwise, we need to remain optimistic and remain on track as to what we want this profession to be.


Until the revamp, we will remain the best profession community in the game. Let's also remain the most organized and prepared for our revamp. We need to stay on focus and keep our lists of reasonable changes we want going. If we come up with new ideas, the correspondent can communicate them to GreenMarine and the other developers. Hell, what other profession has a developer openly showing interest and support for it on his own time?


Let's try to remain cup half full.

dont get me wrong, i love being a smuggler, have been one for almost a year now and i make the best of my sistuation, and adapted as each nerf has come out. i have high hopes for this proffesion, but everytime i read these smuggler boards i just get more and more depressed on what is not happening, im tired of reading threads about what ideas we have, or list after list of whats broken and ways to fix it. so i hardly come to these boards anymore, i kno wour next correspondant will do a good job, and i hope as good as caylin did. but it doesnt look good for us. over a year since our promised revamp and nothing has changed for the better, i hope JTL gives us some love.

I might throw my app in for the heck of it. I'm probably way too much of a lurker to be considered a "community leader." Whoever replaces Caylin, I'm sure will do a great job but I wish Caylin wasn't leaving us.

I want someone who has been a long-standing member of the smuggler community.

Nothing against you gung-ho newer smugglers... We always need fresh energy and perspective.

Howver, I feel a past history of the smuggler profession is a MUST.


And NO, I am not applying. My wife would shoot me. Then she would shoot the computer.

Then she would cancel my account. Then she would add a powerup and shoot me again.
