I used to work witha good friend of minejust before SWG came out and we would talk about how it was going to ruin our lives to have this game (you know, ignoring the kids and the wife, etc. etc.). Well, he got an offer in Cali that he could not refused so he moved just about the time SWG came out.
We got on board about 2 months after release and we hunt together all the time- If he calls me at work we will use our in-game names.
Now about 8 months in he had to come back to New York for a couple of days so he stopped by the office and everyone was like:
"Wow! It's great to see you! How have you been?"
But we were like:
"Hey dude.- Man, I feel like I just saw you yesterday cause we were on line>"
We both had a good laugh about that.

Hotdog, your story in a weird way reminds me of how i got started with SWG. AnX band member who i was on good terms with but never hung out with, pulled me aside one night at the club and started in on how i needed to get SWG and how great a game itwas(this was 3 weeks after launch). After about a week I bought the game and got hooked. 2 months later I was out at another X band members house (different band), this person and her husband were hugh Star Wars fans, so like my friend before me I took up the SWG tourch and pitched them on it. Flash to today, both my X band m8's and I hang out in-game and out of the game more now then when we had played music together. Im trying to get 2 of my friends who moved away hooked on the game with the thought in mind that we will get to hang out, like every night........

Alright, You guys asked for it. I'm gonna tell my Maury story.
I'm an editor for the Maury Povich Show. One of my producers (the guy who moved to Cali),another editor and myself would always talk about SW, throw lines at each other and tell jokes- the rest of the crew would usually join in and it makes work go by quickly.
Anyway one thing we thought would be funny would be to see Luke Skywalker on the Maury Show trying to prove that Darth is his father. I'm going to type out how we see the situation playing out- It's much funnier if you are familiar with the show...
Luke and Maury sit on the set.
Maury: So, what makes you so sure that Lord Vader is your father.
Luke: I can FEEL it because like my father before me, I am a Jedi. ...Oh yeah, and this little green guy living in a swamp told me so.
Maury: Alright. Okay. Well, before we bring him out let's take a look at what Vader had to say before the show.
A tape rolls. Vader is on camera.
Vader: Luke, I am NOT your father. Yoda is just saying that because he is trying to trap me.
Cut to Vader walking down New York Streets randomly slashing pedestrians with his lightsaber when they get in his way.
Vader (VO): Your mother was a tramp. Everyone in the republic spent the night with her and I heard Jar Jar hit it twice- How else do you think an idiot like that got a temporary seat on the senate?
Cut to Vader staring off in the distance- looking contemplative and then turning to stare menacingly into the camera.
Vader (VO): Pad'me is trying to pin you on me cause of ONE thing. MY MONEY- and my POWER- and she's still in love with me. ...oh wait. That's three things.
Cut to Vader using Force Lightning to stop a purse snatcher.
Vader (VO): How can you even SAY I'm your father- You look NOTHING like me. You got blonde hair- fair skin- I'm covered in Black shiny metal. You can't be mine!
Cut to Vader on camera
Vader: Stop this foolishness Luke. Like your sister, you are a part of the Rebel Alliance and a TRAITOR. You could never be my son! After this test comes back and proves I'm NOT your father I expect you to surrender yourself and become the Emporer's *Bleeeeep*
Dissolve back to Maury and Luke on Stage
Audience: Ooooooooooooooooooooo
Maury: So that's him, hunh?
Luke Nods.
Maury: Alright. Let's bring him out. Darth Vader everyone! Darth come on out.
The Imperial March begins to play. Maury walks over to greet Vader as he comes out from backstage.
Audience: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Vader lifts his hand and everyone in the audience begins to choke and gasp.
Vader: I find your audience's attitudes disturbing.
Maury: Come on now Vader. You don't want to come out like that. You came here to prove your not Luke's father, not murder my audience!
Vader: (slowly looks at Maury) As you wish.
Vader puts his hand down and the audience takes a collectivedeep breath.
MauryshakesVader's hand and gives him the one-arm hug (what I call the man hug). Then they have a seat.
Maury: So why don't you thinkLuke is your son?
Vader: Look at him and look at meMaury. It's just not possible.
Luke: Search yourself father. It IS true.
Maury: I don't know. Put thesplit of them up there and let's see.
Astill of Luke and Vader is put up.
Maury:What do you think audience?Do they look alike?
Audience: Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Dissolve back tothe set.
Maury: So Vader, if LukeIS your sonwhat are you prepared to do.
Vader: I'm going to step up and be a man.I'm going to show my son the ways of the Darkside so that hecan join me in service to the Emporer. Together we wil rule the Galaxy as father and son.
Maury: And if he is NOT-
Vader:Then I expect to take him to theEmporer where he will be converted to the Darkside and put in service ot the Empire.
Luke: There is still good in you father. I can sense it.
Maury: (pulls out the envelope) Well, we are going to find out one way or another right now.
Audience: (Applause) WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Maury: Alright. Vader. When it comes to the paternity of Luke Skywalker. You ARE the father.
The Audience bursts into applause and cheers. Vader stands up and walks off the stage in dissappointment.
Vader: No *beeeeeeep* way man! That *beeeeeeep* test is full of *beeeeeeeep*. No Way. *Beeeeep* that! *Beeeeep* that!
Luke falls to his knees.
Luke: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Anyway, that's how it goes. We play out parts of this from time to time for a laugh and have even talked about shooting it but we haven't yet. We think that Maury might even play himself (he's cool like that) but if he would rather not we have a look-a-like guy who could do him quite nicely. It would be funny for our wrap/Christmas parties.

So I go to bed rather late last night and as I'm crawling into bed I glance at the clock and think, "not long until my parents spawn"
Needless to say, I had some pretty horrific dreams last night...

This isnt SWG related, but it is Computer Related.
So I am sitting in sculpture class in college (I am a digital artist), its 8:30 in the monring, I am working on a piece in clay and I make a mistake. My hands instantly move towards crtl Z on the keyboard. Another digital artist in my class next is sitting next to me and starts rolling, it took me a while to figure out why.

It was a normal day, coming home from work, looking forward to getting online and grinding out some pistol xp to master smuggler... yeah, back in the day.Back when I wasabsolutely hooked on the game, spent most of my waking hours in game. I was on the highway, I came over a hill and sawthe waypoint marker for my house. This bright blue light, shining from the sky. I didn't even think about it. I was just following it. Literally 20 minutes after my exit I realize I'm following the spotlight to a movie theatre on its grand opening. I don't think I've ever felt quite so... disconnected from the world. And to be honest, I loved it!
Then there are the random times I'm laughing at a table's joke (I'm a waiter) and shout "L-O-L" at them, or I tell them "B-R-B" when they ask for change. What's even stranger, are the ones that understand it, and sometimes sympathize with what they consider as a common mistake. It's a small world, guys. And with the internet, it's even smaller.

Ok that Maury thing is hilarious, I had to show my hubby and he laughed so hard he almost fell out of his chair.
Oh and with the whole getting your friends to play SWG and you see them more that way thing, I can top that. I bought the game for my hubby last year in June, by August I was hooked. By October I got my dad who was an EQ person to buy SWG. He lives a few states away so yep I saw him more ingame then in rl for quite awhile! He has since went back to EQ mostly but still has his SWG account, my daughters love seeing him ingame and typing messages to him.
