You are entitled to have all the fun you want.
SOE is more from the school of 'players create content' which is what you do by RP'ing, and there's nothing wrong with that, but not everyone is from that school of thought.
Personally, I like to create some of my own content, i.e. RP and such, but I also need real and tangible things to do as well.
I had 4 alts because I tend to get bored easily, and having a Crafter, Ent/Doc, and Smuggler insured my continued subscription. Matrix Online came around and I needed a break, and I left for a bit, but came back earlier than intended when SOE bought MxO.
Crafter was an Architect, but got tired of that, and he has very few combat skills, so he became a Respec Smuggler.
I gave up Ent. before mastering, but originally started because of my Smuggler, hangin' out in the cantinas was fun.
Doc was made completely useless to me by the CU, as I mostly hung out in Med Centers to heal people, and occasionally give buffs. I had a Smuggler/Pistoleer as a combat character, I didn't need another one. (I mastered Doc by actually healing wounded people, not AFK macroing tumblers, strange concept I know)
Doc was where I went when I needed a break from combat, but still wanted to RP/interact with people.
I had a 4th that I just toyed around with sometimes, went CH for a bit, was going to do BH (way before the CU) Carbineer, and wherever else my whims took me.
The Crafter became a respec Smuggler, but decided that was redundant having 2 Smugglers, so he's been packed up, the Doc became a respec SW/Pilot/CL12 Marksman (and only a Mark. to stave off some attacks), the Smuggler is still around and was respeced to BH before I even realized how many there were (although it does help finding tools, and I've never hunted a Jedi), and the 4th has been deleted.
That was a pretty fair bit of well-rounded-ness in the 'players creates content' vs. 'Devs create content' styles.
It's a shame that the CU basically forced everyone to be a combat character.
Not everyone wants to be that diverse.
Everyone has their own play style and are entitled to it.
We already have plenty of 'player created content' in Smuggler.
We need 'Dev created content'.
Yes, we are getting a few things, but after waiting for 2 years, being asked for our ideas numerous times (and given an overwhelming number of them) and getting the absolute bare minimum that they think they can get away with is pitiful to say the least.
Other words that come to mind are outrage, mockery, garbage, offensive, waste of time to develop, insulting, confusing, resentment, inadequate, and I'm sure others could extend that list quite a bit.
If the Sumggler revamp must wait until last to have a competent and complete job done, then fine, but to do it because they don't understand or know how to implement it is not.
If we accept this pittance of a smuggling system, the Devs will consider their job with Smuggler done and we will never see another change made to our profession again.
There have been almost 229,000 posts in the Smuggler forum.
That puts it in 4th place, after Jedi (1.175 Mil), BH (528,000), and CH(?!?) (253,000).
How many of those are concepts and ideas for a Smuggler revamp?
How many are rants about how we've been passed over yet again?
Sure, some of those ideas are way out of line and impossible to implement. For some reason people come up with some strange idea and create an elaborate system for it, even though it doesn't fit with the rest of the game. Happens in every single game.
The vast majority are great ideas that are possible as they are or with minor changes.
The original Smuggler revamp threads (Part 1, Part 2) have just over 2,100 posts combined.
How many other threads are filled with ideas for addition to a revamp?
And this trivial piece of crap is all they can come up with?
You may continue to be happy with SWG as it is, and I would never flame or berate you or anyone else for it, but after being led on for 2 years (14 months personally) Smuggler needs to be made what it was originally intended to be.
I know I've rambled a bit, but I think it's all relevant and I hope you understand why so many people are angered by this so-called "revamp".
After playing a smuggler for a long time (2+years just got the 27 month reward). This is very disappointing. Smugglers are grounded based drug dealers. It could have been some much more, but maybe this tells you how much the development team has watched the movies.
I have no heart burn with the bounty hunter thing except. The BH is designed to have a chance against the highest level combat profession in the game the mighty JEDI. So I guess smugglers will be the leveler targets for BHs to get some quick loot and shot. We need a leveler on this or the DEVELOPMENT Team may get thier wish and finish this player group like they did with the crafters.
Did I miss what happens with current spice and slicing or does that just puff to useless junk like the clamps and knives. Another great gift to smugglers.
Wimok may go but a BH may appear on another server or there is always respec.

After reading Tiggs' responses to the questions, I almost don't know what is the most disheartening thing about it :
1) Its evident from the lack of responses, that this "system" will not be implemented anytime soon.
2) Has the potential to be disasterous to the profession
3) Hasn't any space content???????
If there isn't any space content, will the DEV's at least give us a high speed Eopie to transport our smuggled goods? Exactly how much "ground based" smuggling has anyone who is a fan of the movies & the expanded universe seen in all of the novelizations? Having read them all, there have been NONE!!!!!! So implemeting a "ground based" smuggling protocol that does not use space in the equation is just flat out DUMB. We've gone from being drug pushers to UPS!!!!!

If you enjoy the game so much, go play it, don't spend your time on here telling other people that want something better for their profession to pipe down.

Surely theres no point to it then. Tiggs the answers you gave there not only made me feel treated like a kid but did not reveal ANYTHING substantial about our updates except for ONE thing.

Well i hope you know SOE/DEVS/LA that you just made a serious mistake on your part, deadly serious.
We the smuggler community have had to put up with constant nerfs and ignorance and throughout we have been patiant if a little rowdy but to now state that we wont be smuggling in space is just retarded. I mean come on, admit it, your just being lazy because none of you understand the JTL code right ? well heres an idea. EXPAND YOUR BLOODY MINDS A LITTLE AND LEARN IT.
I was so damn close to buying the expansion but after reading whats coming our way i clearly do not care anymore. If things change before this hits TC and live then i might stay but no space smuggling = canceld account (and dont think there wont be more)
