Thread: Julio Torres sets date for Smuggler content, places self in cross-hairs...

So let me get this straight. The smuggler missions are very likely going to tie in with Mustafar? A planet without a space zone? I want toflypast imperial blocades in my YT-1300 with contraband bound for a rebel base or avoid Dark Sunraiders while delivering spice to aJabba. I really, reallydon't want to smuggle some f-ing LAVA LIGHTSABER for a J3daiby sneaking ontoa shuttle on Mustafar.
I have a feeling there's going to be maybe 1 or 2 quests that will invlove Smugglers and it will probablyinvolve smugglingsome phat loot that onlyjedai and bounty hunters can use.
Why would anyone have a reason to be optimistic or grant the benefit of the doubt. The Devs and Producers have lied to ous, stalled, misdirected and twisted words for over two years, we have no reason to believe things will suddenly be any different.
Our distrust and suspicion was bred by SOE - so it's perfectly reasonable to assume they will continue with "business as usual" and once more we'll discover that their statements are merely a carrot dangled before us to keep us subscribing.
Makris wrote:Simple, a bug is a defect in code. If there is no code there's no bug, therefore the lack of smuggling is no bug.
BUT, it was part of the original design, according to Wes and others. It was just moved out of scope. Therefore we have an unbelievable amount of time without any production.
Actually that is not true. While most bugs are wrong sourcecode, there are also design flaws (something wasn't thought through so it's not working) that are considered bugs as well as missing functionality.

while mr. bryant's response was a bit excessive, i can't agree with tashunka.
you say smuggling was never designed into this game. well, there wasn't even a smuggler class a week before live so that's not all that surprising.
more importantly, smuggling is a part of a Smuggler. obviously. and to create a Smuggler profession without smuggling is, imo, broken, not content. that's just a mistake, flat out.
ah, i beg to differ. when i was in beta the first thing i did was decide upon what i wanted to do. i was working on my way up to being a smuggler a good month before live. it was more like bounty hunter was and had 4 trees to climb in the base professions until a week before live, so i can see if that is what you meant then yeah, but it was there long before a week. i knew 2 other people who had been a smuggler more than one week before live. oh and i made novice smuggler the day beta ended. didnt get to try it out much then.
I come from the faraway land of the Bounty Hunter, and I bring you gifts....*points to Jedi* ...to give as an offering to the great mountain in hopes to alleviate your suffering and bring joy to the Nation of the Smuggler.
*Prays to the Smuggler Gods and throws the Jedi he's captured into the smoking mountain*
Fingers crossed that your revamp is coming soon guys, I know you've been holding out forever and a day, and I can't wait to see smugglers back in action, I for one miss you guys.

Bookshelf fetishist Julio Torres is using "grammatical ambiguity."
Here's some examples of Newspaper headlines to further the concept.
Eye drops off shelf
Squad helps dog bite victim
Dealers will hear car talk at noon
Enraged cow injures farmer with ax
Lawmen from Mexico barbecue guests
Miners refuse to work after death
Two Soviet ships collide - one dies
Two sisters reunite after eighteen years at checkout counter
In the case of the newspaper headlines, it's accidental, and funny. But with Julio Whorres, it's deliberate. That way when it gets to November, and all that shows up is TOOW, he can say, "That's what I was talking about, sorry you misunderstood."
And if there's any argument there, just remember, in an interview about the CURB, Julio down by the schoolyard suggested that the CU came about because Creature Handlers needed to be nerfed.
Julio, I believe, is the devil's lieutenant.
I posted this in another thread that dealt with this same subject....except the all mighty Tiggs had responded on the question of what the revamp would include.
Enjoy! ![]()

We have this information from SWG vault:
SWG Vault: Can you tell us when EXACTLY we will see the full Smuggler Revamp? And if you can't tell us, can you please tell us why?
Julio Torres: We are aware and sensitive to the fact that Smugglers need content to enjoy. We are currently working on this, and players should be able to enjoy the new content in November.

Could someone please let us know what the quoted "content" entails specifically? Is this a few added missions for smugglers or does this mean new functionality added to the Smuggler profession? What is coming in November for Smugglers?
Sorry, I can't and won't give details until the changes are a week out of hitting Test Center. As for the interview it is correctly quoted.
I think everyone is jumping to a bad interpretation of Julio's comment and how Tiggs' statement relates to it. Julio spoke VERY carefully by saying that they are working on the new content for smugglers. He then very carefully and methodically (IMO) placed a comma and then stated, "...players (not smugglers)should be able to enjoy the new content in November."
Translation - We are working on the smuggler missions/content. Until we are finished with them, please enjoy the new content in the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion that will be released in November.
Tiggs' statement, "I can't and won't give details until the changes are a week out of hitting Test Center." further confirms that the smuggler content is NOT part of TOW and should not be expected. Plenty of information has been released and talked about in regards to TOW. Being that she cannot or will not comment on smuggler content in TOW is the proof. I understand her need to keep things close to the vest. This is not her fault - it is Julio's for making an ill formed statement that facilitated a misunderstanding.

What He really ment :
Julio Torres: We are aware and sensitive to the fact that Smugglers need content to enjoy. We are currently not working on anything but Jedi and Bh, and we think players should be able to enjoy the new content in November, but of crouse we have no basicidea of what players want in the game so we just like to nerf everydammed thing and make jedi uber and bh nifity
EDIT for errors

Doesn't seem to be very careful OR methodical, as putting a comma there is frowned on by the Grammarians. They're apt to bust a cap.
