Great guide! I am trying to figure out what I want to do next. I am only certain that I want to master Smuggler, the rest is open. I used to be a master Pistoleer, and want to try something different, but the pistol is such a perfect compliment to smuggler, I don't want to drop all of it. (I am thinking 0-4-0-4 or something like that).
What I really want to try is a "Swashbucking Rogue" template: Master Smuggler, Master Fencer, Pistoleer 0-4-0-4, maybe a little scout for hunting or terrain neg.
It's very, very hard not to pick the triple master (Smuggler/Pistoleer/TKM) but I want to play with knives...

I'm in the process of making a Collecting Smuggler
Master Smuggler
Master TKA + Novice Pistoleer (could switch round if preferred)
Artisan + Survey 4
Scout + Hunt 4 + Explore 2
3floating skill points
With a full elite combat and smuggler I can locate organic and inorganicresources and collect a good selection, which I of course can slip past any customs officers 
I have a merchant alt for sales but if not available can easily drop hunt or survey 4 and explore 2 to get the sp to open up business 3 for a vendor.

This combo gives a little extra accuracy and defense and uses up all the skill points.
The nice thing is you can slice while dancing and giving mind buffs. I usually hang out in the cantina with the Master Smuggler title up.When I'm working for someone slicing, I throw up the Master Dancer title and ask them if they want a mind buff for 5k while their waiting for me to complete slicing.
Great for role playing the Mata hari type character.

The smuggler/miner combo. Going all the way to Wayfairing IV allows you to camo yourself on every planet except Dathomir for easy surveying.
That is not completly true. Not beeing able to craft the camo kits doesnt mean that you cant use them. Find yourself a Master Ranger to make you some Dathomir Camo Kits.
So many nice Combos, and I already tried alot of them...

Ok, I read on one of the threads that smugglers should be able to slice their ships. (ie. Han Solo crawling aroung the Falcon banging on parts etc.) So I got to thinking and playing around. To tell the truth I role play more then PvP so I haven't crunched the combat numbers but here is what I came up with:
Master Smuggler (of course)
Pistols 4 included
Unarmed 4 included
Master Pistoleer (got to have pistols)
Now here is where I added the "ship hacking"
Artisan 4-0-2-0 (for shipwright and to have a merchant for money)
Shipwright 0-3-3-0 (gives you reactor, capacitor, booster, and engine)
I think this leaves a few skill points left over but I don't remeber how many.
Well thats my idea on a role play smuggler now if we could only SMUGGLE somethink

Well, the FAQs are a great place to start, however, I'll tell you this.
1: Pilot doesnt take any Skill-points, so you can do that no matter what, it's more a question of whether you want to be rebel or imp. Or, you can choose to be a Privateer and then go with whatever ground faction you like.
2: Smuggler is a GREAT prof, but we're needing some love from SOE atm. No Matter what, you'll want to grab medic for now and choose a good combat class to support yourself as smuggler, if combat is what you want. Or you could choose a crafting prof, it's up to you. If you go combat, Pistols or Teral Kasi go naturally with Smuggler, since their pre-requisites are the same as a Smuggler's, but all the other combat classes are also a viable choice, it's honestly up to you and what your playstyle is. Big choice for now? When doing Unarmed and Pistols to make Novice Smuggler, whichever one you like better will probly point you toward the Elite combat prof you will eventually choose

Nice... I didn't know that Pilot was a non-skill point class, so that helps. I'm liking pistols so far, so I'll probably do something with that. I've been mainly blowing Tie Fighters away for now... cause it's fun

Professions you can not master along with Master Smuggler:
- Bounty Hunter
- Bounty Hunter
Why? I am both... Actually I am 2444 BH and master smug but plan on mastering BH.

The reason why is that this guide was Pre-CU, when it was NOT possible to master both. Perhaps this guide could be updated to include CU changes, or maybe someone could post a link to a guide that includes CU changes.
For me, I'm thinking of going Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer, as it leaves me enough skill points to pick up some medic skills for self-healing when solo.
