Thread: New Slicing System
I'm getting really tired of people yelling that this new slicing system isn't worth sh*t and that it isn't what everyone wanted, and that they aren't listening to us. They are, but just because they aren't listening to you doesn't mean they aren't listening at all...
Take the slicing mini-game... I for one, was excited to have something like this. Yes, I'm disappointed that it won't be a mini-game, but from what I recall, there were just as many people who didn't want slicing to be twitch based, and they liked the crafting-type aspect more. In this case, the dev's heard thier plees. As for taking away breakage, it seems a lot of you are against this, but look around! Half of the people were against breakage in the first place! If you're disappointed that "we" don't want to settle for this because this isn't what "we" wanted, well, they're just giving us what people asked for. If there's 50% of people going one way, and 50% going the other, than naturally 1/2 of the people aren't going to get what they want. I'm not particularly happy about some of the things, but I am glad that they are giving us something, after a loooong while, and if you really look into it, it IS what we asked for. (just maybe not what you did)
Hey, here's a little fun fact. For a full critical strike slice, there is a 1% chance that it will equal what a single damage slice could do. In other words, it would have to critical strike 9% of the time (about 1 out of 10) if the time in order to equal the damage of a single damage slice (not including a 6% speed slice...) And please, PLEASE don't take this as an excuse to either up the customization level of damage to 100, or to lower it down to 2% increase... Please instead take it as a suggestion to increase the other stats potential.
Also, if we factor in the damage and speed slice, there is .75 % chance that in 50 seconds you can equal the damage output with a critical strike slice.

What it is, is...
Click, Click, Click, Click. They might as well just set it up so you select "slice" from the radial menu and it automatically applies the 6%/8% slice... it would save just that much more time. So whoever asked for that one... Let me know because I'd like to nominate them to the position of Dev in charge of Smugglers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I agree with the system, but it techniquely is what a lot of people asked for. /shrug
I'm such mediating pacifist wimp... /sigh
Wow...
This looks really complex.
Going to take a fair amount of experimentation to get it all down, and a nice, long wait for the FotM-ers to leave the profession to us prosafter 19.

You don't need knives anymore
At least the issue ofremoving auto-pull from the gamehas been resolved!

I think the actual system is better, but yet yet again, it's looks like it will be horribly implmented. I don't like that there's no tools at all, cutting and clamping was a pain, but no tools just makes us seem more like magicians. Even in WoW, you'd need ingredients to magical enchance weapons and armor. Aslo 8% DMG and 10% Speed? (BTW, you can only have one of those, getting to that point both cost 100% Customization) That's a big step down from what use to be 35%, even buggy now most slices I've seen are past 10%. Is it worth 8% more DMG for your gun to explode? On TC my CDEF Rifle went from 866/866 to 0 condition after a slice failed during a fire fight.
I'll take 8% damage and 10% speed over -6% slices anyday
We were spoiled with big numbers pre CU. Uber legendary weapons roamed the earth and boiled the seas. Now it is a calmer, simpler, more preschool friendly time. With the caps and such on weapons now that 8% damage will make a difference and will be in demand.
