Thread: wave goodbye to the triple master....

My issue isn't so much the Tri-Master itself, it is the concept of forcing me into set template choices due to prerequisites that make no sense. If Two Handed Sword Specialization meant I was better as a TK then I could agree, but I'll never use it and yet I'll be forced to take it.

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

I will be content that Pistoleer is good enough that I don't need TKM to access high-PvE or to PvP*

*not including Jedi, but then it's a good thing that the Jedi are extinct in this timescale, or I'd be shafted. Phew! /wipebrow

Just an example of the possibilities of "bugged at launch" for the CU, should they not do propper testing or propperly respond to feedback, as usual:

Under the prereqs listed on the CU Update thread, there is currently 1 possible Tripple Combat Master:

Master Fencer

Master Swordsman

TKM

Now, I for one would have prefered an increase in viability to hybrids for theextra SP they would sacrifice, instead of an even SP requirement between elites and hybrids, but if you're going to nerf, nerf it all. Otherwise, the above combo will be all we ever see the grinders doing.

Seems like they are going backwards with this concept. How long have we been at odds regarding Smuggler pre-reqs...and they go and make all of the combat professions with an add-on pre-req as useless as ours??!!?? (useless for us depending on which direction you took, or if your triple master, then neither is useless)

Oh, by the way, Pikemen should have the longest melee range. Wouldn't you agree?

Or...why not drop or move around TKA? It's the most unusual of all the basic elite combat professions. All of the other elites are pretty standard, run of the mill, with one HAM bar they focus on and roughly they're own place in combat. TKAs though are ridiculous jack of all trades, being able to hit all three HAM bars quickly and accurately, as well as states, as well as a lot of defenses, as well as meditation.

I've never understood why they never had TKA as a hybrid like commando or smuggler to begin with, rather then putting it in as a normal elite. Having a support melee line instead of unarmed probably would have made melee balance a lot easier, in any case.

Well currently he's not being non-combat but he will

All though I like the verstitlitity of triple master but I think I'll like the new system better.

I played EQ2 for a while and I did like the combat system. Okay you ended up for the most part tapping out key cominations but I'd rather do that than simply tapping on the "I win" button SWG mind attacks currently are. I liked that I had to deal with drains and could not spam the same uber attack over and over again. The only thing that brought me back to SWG was that I EQ2 had no PvP.

SWG is going to be very similiar to EQ2 now, what I think will happen...

SWG = EQ"

Rifleman = Assassin (Damage dealers but they will need to aim/hide to deal there heavy damage which will be slow)

Carbine = Wizards/Swahbucklers (Not as heavy damage as Rifleman but they will hit constantly for good dps, if they move some attacks will be broken but they will not be rooted to the ground as Rifleman will be.)

Pistols = Corceres (sp)-Sorcerers? They will be the on the fly range profession. They will not be high dps as Carbiners and Rifleman but will be able to be mobile and use that mobility to their defence. Maybe they will be the "root and kite" proffesion that keeps their enermy away from Carbiners and Riflemen.

Doctors = main Healer These will be the main healers for the "Tanks" and will of course be the parties buffers.

CMs = secondary Healer These will be used to de-buff there enemy to some extent, in a pinch they'll be able to take over as group healers from doctors.

TKM = Paladins their DPS won't be as high as Swordsman, not as low as Fencers, they will be backup tanks and be more debuffers.

Fencers = Guardians these will be the tanks, their dps won't be great but they'll be able to tank anything with the help of healers.

Swordman = Brawlers Not that high a dps, not low, their defence also not high or low. They'll be the middle ground for the Tanks

Pikeman = Berserker These will be the crazy damage melee profession getting up their with carbiners for damage, still be able to tank but not as well as swordsman/fencers/TKMs (I know this isn't the case in EQ2 but it should be )

I believe you should need to take a fighting profeesion and a highbread proffession to be more than average in PvP rather than just 2 fighting proffesions.

BH, Leave them a class for taking on Jedi, they should not be that successful on the battlefield

Commando, Increases your damage output on your choosen weapon

Squadleader, Increase your groups defences as it does now but more effective.

Smuggler, shouldn't really be that much increase in your combat effiency maybe they could apply buffs to themselves or debuff oppenant with dirty tricks.

guess we'll find out in a month time when it goes open beta a week before the live release

Here's where I see some of them.

Rifleman: Same, they're the damage dealers with long breaks in between
Gunfighter: Close-range crowd control, slight tendancy towards tanking
Carbines: Not as heavy hitting as Rifles, not as close as Pistols, they control positions and postures of MOBs.

Swordsman: Damage Dealing Tank
Fencer: Area/DOT whores In other words, dealing high damage, but through DOTs and potentially multifighting(via area attacks)
Pikeman: Crowd Controling Tank, debuffing, state-usage
Teras Kasi Artist: TANK armed with a .22 Low-Mid damage which avoids most damage delt to it

Combat Medic: Healer with Crowd Control and Damage Dealing abilities

Squad Leader: Crowd Control is the best place to put this, but its hard to place such a profession into these three roles I've listed.

Creature Handler: Tank/Damage/Crowd Control via pets, obviously

Jedi: Whinebag

Can we try to avoid such sweeping stereotypes and generalizations, please?

Jedi are not the be-all, end-all cause of all the problems in this game, and are not really deserving of all this hate.

What's the saying? "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

If Jedi are a problem, it's a problem caused by the Devs.

That's not to say there aren't Jedi Whinebags, but what profession is totally without Whinebags?

Sure it's not shooting them in the back? Oh wait, I have the marksman pistols tree and Dirty Fighting. Yippee!

Every time I pick up a pistol, I feel the hate flow through me. Now bashing in someone's face, that's entertainment.

Hard to tell sometimes, especially when it was the only "joke" in the post. I've just read one too many posts with similar "jokes" I guess.
