Interesting, that could make the Heavy Z-95 a better choice for Interception than the A-Wing, considering the weapon loadout is the same, yet you have more supported mass to install a bigger engine.

I already think that the A-Wing doesn't have enough mass for the engine it deserves... now it gets outperformed by a Z-95...

Okay, here's the two problems with the A-Wing.
First, many people make the mistake of trying to make thier A-Wing extremely powerfull.
Second, we get it in tier 4, when we've got the certifications for the next-to-highest level weapons/armor/shields in the space game, and that leads people to think they should load these heavy items into the A-Wing.

I agree, the mass makes it difficult to load out a decent weapon and shield along with the engine. Whenever I take an A-Wing out, I put in my Reward Engine, a decent cannon, no missile launcher, sub-par capacitor(don't need much for one gun), chaff, and a modest shield. This lets me go fast and dodge all about. The problem is, not everyone has the pre-nerf engine, meaning they can't fly an A-Wing as its supposed to.

The solution the devs need to go for is simple. Add in a new craftable engine type. Make it only fit into fighters which are classed as Interceptors(not bombers or multi-role craft). Have this new engine require the new space ore, be very light, and extremely fast. In fact, make two of these engines, a Interceptor Engine Mark I and Interceptor Engine Mark II. Mark I's get Certified in Tier 3, Mark II's get Certified at Master.

This way, you get an engine which allows interceptor class craft to do thier role, while not putting a component in that unbalances the game because people start dropping this light-but-fast engine into thier B-Wing, and such.

My A is pretty tricked out. Even if it just has a post nerf engine (REed). I even managed to fill every slot of it and have still 1k mass left over. What irks me is the fact that it is slower than my Nova...

Instead of a system that only depends on mass of the components, I would have add class restrictions. If I put a lvl 6 engine in my freighter I feel like duct-taping fireworks to it...

That's what my idea was for, but lets expand it some. Interceptors get thier engines. Bombers get some slightly higher-quality shields for a little less mass. Multi-Role craft don't get anything special, since there's already the fact that they do well at most roles and are the most versitile. And the large, Multiplayer ships still get thier promised special components when RotW hits.
