Thread: The events of the last 3 days have been intresting.
Kindness doesn't work - we tried that in the beginning, and for a long time.
The problem with giving someone the benefit of the doubt, is that there shouldn't BE doubt.
Tralita,
I think you've confused our roles in this process. We don't owe the devs anything. Weare their customers, and ultimately we have the option of continuing our subscriptions or cancelling. That's about the only tool we have to work with.
Even though some of us may have a desire to work towards improving the game, and maybe some ideas on how to do that, or perhaps even some rl skills that would enable that, that is not something we have any control over. We are not developers, we have no financial stake in their success or failure, and we have no control over the product.
If the developers choose to ask for opinions or ideas of us, that is on their initiative, not ours. They've proven again and again that they desire no such help from us, and this is why the correspondent positions are such a sham. In the end, they (the devs) make the decisions, and don't want our help in doing that. That's something we all have to come to grips with.

I have to ask how this would really work when you look at the Jedi population's approach to everything. There are very few on this forum who view the Jedi channel as anything but disgusting (Jedi included) and yet they still get their voices heard. I understand what's said, but polite isn't the way. Killing them with kindness isn't the way.
Kill them with the facts served up properly and don't back down from them. That's the only way you may get an answer. That's the only way you might ever see smuggling in game.

This game HAS continued to grow because of the help from correspondents like Wes. Wes can collect information from people like ourselves who are constructive and are able to prioritize the top issues.
Who? The correspondents?

I won't deny that some Correspondents have been fortunate enough to have some communication between Devs and players, but if you want to know how ultimately effective the process is, let me ask this:
Where's our revamp, already?
Wes probably doesn't have any more of an answer than Caylin did. The fact that we have ex-Correspondents should be indicative of the futility of the whole thing. And if a Correspondent can't get it done, what hope do "normal" subscribers have?
Maybe trolling and flaming won't help - but kindness and patience have gotten us only excuses and lies. So if it's all the same, I'd prefer to reserve my kindness, patience and compassion for people who are honest and ip-front with me.
That's your wish. My wish is to see this game reach it's potential.
BTW, one more to 2000!
It's my wish as well - but CLEARLY it's not the wish of the Developers, because otherwise they'd be doing that.
It's easy for them to lie to people who lie to themselves - I'd love to see some evidence of what impact your "think positive" mindset has really had on the game. We still don't have the revamp that was promised two years ago.
But don't worry, Tink! Think happy thoughts and it won't matter!
Sorry, I tried that approach - all that does is reinforce to them that they can continue with "business as usual" because there will always be someone who will accept what they're given and refuse to demand anything further.
As is every other Smuggler in this community. We just differ on how to go about reaching that potential. I don't claim to be right in my opinion, it's just that, my opinion. I just know from seeing first hand that we have gotten no closer to that potential following the path of "love" for the last two years. For me it's time to take another path.

I understand what you are doing Makris and what you are saying. I was you a year plus ago when we got our revamp pushed back the first time because the Village, the CU and the GCW were more important.
I also understand what you mean when you say- can't we do this without flaming everyone. We should be civil.
I DID all that- and right now I'm angry- no, I'm PISSED. We're ALL pissed. I've paid $210 bucks (including the expansion) while waiting for them to come out and say yes or no to smuggling- Hell, they even had some threads up like they were really gonna do it too.
Now, it's great that you can be civil. I was the same way. Right now though, I think we need to work through this.
You need to acknowledge that we have a right to be angry. Yes, we DON'T have to flame people that come in here but we DO have a right to be mad, man and people have to start recognizing that- and real quick too.

Yes Hotdog. And I'm mad too. I see that we just have different ways of dealing with it.
- Your customers tell you what a good job you're doing, and are always nice and polite when you talk to them.
- Your customers are yelling about what a crappy job you're doing, what a crappy service you're providing, and they are leaving in waves which is resulting in a decline in profits.
Now, I'm no expert, but if I owned that company, and #2 was happening, I'd make sure to kick things into high gear and try to please my customers. That's where my paycheck comes from, after all.
