I dunno, his last couple posts about it have been pretty good. I do think it's crazy to think smugglers wouldn't know anything about sneaking people around or through security, but he's right that people-smuggling isn't the only form of smuggling out there. And disguising people WOULD be up an ID's alley. So long as we're involved, I'm cool with it.
Still, the times I'm proudest to be a member of this community are when we're brainstorming fixes here and when we go en masse to foreign forums to defend our profession with reasoned arguments and open minds. Good show so far.

You might think thats bad, but its a very valid point.....how would a smuggler be able to get a known criminal past several guards? They would need to disguise the people to get through. Smugglers would be involved if it required to never establish a direct contact between the fugitive and law enforcement.
Urge to kill... rising...

Who's to say that smuggling a person through security should be smuggler only? Bring in image designers as an option to completely disguise yourself is one more profession that gets a purpose....besides......*shows shiney thingy* Smuggler revamp, on the way...fetch fetch!

Listen, you will not be able to help out a person if he's visually identified by law enforcement, no matter how many slices you make, how many talks you have....if law enforcements recognise the suspect...they are screwed. That point for the smuggler is to never reach that point of visual identification. Thats the critical difference.

Okay, you sit back and listen to this fekwad.
Fact #1: There's a profession in this game called "Smuggler".
Fact #2: "Smugglers" are people who move items and/or people from one place to another in a non-legal fashion.
Fact #3: It is not always done by avoiding authorities, Smuggling is done simply by methods in which you circumvent the law.
By making it so that an Image Designer who has invested no skill points in Smuggler is more than capable of Smuggling someone about the galaxy than an actual Smuggler, you are litterally KILLING THE PROFESSION, NUMBNUTS!
OMG I cant believe some thinks a smuggler would not make fake ID's to get past scans, ROFLMAO

Making a fake ID is an art, wich is the area of an image designer. Its a skill. Meaning if the smuggler makes the fake ID he would also be an image designer.

Yeah, but what about plastic surgery or just well-applied makeup?
I'm sort of growing to the opinion that, in the interests of eventually getting an underworld that's truly vivacious and sprawling, it's a good idea to include as many other professions as possible. Right now, all we have is us, bounty hunters, and I suppose Jedi. If, where it's logical, we can give other professions a little bit of criminal content--WITHOUT ENCROACHING ON OUR OWN DECREES!--we're much more likely to see the kind of underworld we'd all like to see.
Edit: if we're talking about fake IDs, however, no way an Image Designer gets within a county mile. Fake IDs are made by dudes on the street, seedy novelty stores, and James Bond's supplier, not your local hairdresser. Proper forgery is an illegal act (or, in the case of spies and the CIA and whatever, an "extralegal" act) designed to trick the authorities, something that sounds like a dead ringer for the art of the smuggler.

Are you SERIOUS???
Ok, why don't we let Artisans make spice, since they are more crafter than we are?
How about we let Weaponsmiths slice the weapons, since they made them and know their complexitites better than ourselves?
You, sir, are an idiot, and so completely disillusioned to what "Smuggling" means that I simply can't express myself monosyllabically enough for you to EVER understand what it truly is.
Writing things that amount to "go fetch your revamp" makes me sick.
And I'm sorry, but if you compared what Image Designers do IRL and what Criminals do IRL, I don't think you'd ever see a f***ing haristylistwhipping up a fake ID.
We are CRIMINALS. We change the rules. Honestly, get that through your thick head, or go to the Jedi forums and play with the blockheads.

Haahaahaahaaa it is an art just like the art of smuggling people dude that has to be the weakest argument Ive ever heard for anything, every profession is a art in its own way.

No idea ift his still applies, but pre-launch the devs said they would not be implementing any kind of disguise in the game... let's hope that still stands
. I can see their PoV in that an ID wants more content... but.. just...

When criminals want a effective fake ID, they go to a specialist, an artist...you implying that artistry of fake ID is the realm of a smuggler? Electronic Fake ID is another story...thats the realm of slicers/smugglers

Biological disguise - Image designers
Electronic disguise - Smuggler

Thats right, the GCW correspondent saw the situation, and automaticaly thought of IDs as a solution, not smugglers. Thats an example of how low on the radar we are. shame we arent really smuggling things, noone notices us anyway.
Actually... no.
I thought of Image Designers as an additional method of bypassing scans.
I want smugglers to be required for anyone to get anything illegal through a factionally controlled starport.
Drugs
Sliced Weapons
Sliced Armor
Military Bases
Turrets
Mines
Jedi Artifacts (Dark Jedi Medallion)
Etc...
You have absolutley no idea how your list there grates me, its as though you are happy for smugglers to transport items through but not people. Smugglers in this game need to smuggle people, its an essential role... It's an essential plotelement of ANH, for crying out loud. Not saying that every smug wants to be like Solo, but we need that choice.
I also want every profession to play a role, and am brainstorming ways to get everyone involved.
Sadly your brainstorming has only come up with ways of making us glamorous deliverymen or advanced slice-monkeys, we certainly should have to go through hoards of slicing "mini games" to smuggle things. That stuff already annoys us.
I love the smugglers, and I know they need the love.
Believe me, I'll be fighting for you. I want your role expanded tenfold.
Only tenfold?
Note: I know you've posted things since, which of kind of calmed the waters, but some of your earlier posts annoyed me, so up there is me venting.
IDs making a kit that can add mods to our base smuggling skills is a good idea (much like docs using bivoli for buffing, etc) - but its us that should always do the transporting and getting them through. We need that content in the game where we become an essential link.
