Hands down. Granted we're not a crafting profession, but the work we do put into the tools of our trade should be reflected in the quality of our products. Also, it would help out where I've seen some instances that a master smuggler gets a slice percentage so low he might as well just have weapon slicing one. This should not be the case at master smuggler, or at least with a master smuggler using excellent quality gear.
If we were to stick with option A, granted, yes, we could use any resource, and slicing would stay as random as it is now, but it'd just be another dumbed down class like was done to combat medics when their experimentation/crafting formulas were changed. It went from a class with an extremely low floor and high ceiling based on the quality of resources and experimentation points, to a class with a much much closer range of min/max so that anyone was competitive if they could smack a mouse button, even with sub-par resources. Granted not all smugglers do make their own tools, but regardless, a good tool should do better work than a crap tool.
Give experimentation and tool quality a point, please. And for that matter, spice experimentation as well, lower downer times, or longer durations, something.
Anyways, just trying to give some input, as well as suggestions for ideas I disagree with or would like to see change. Unfortunately, we all have seen what happens when people just whine without making suggestions, things get changed from what they were to something even worse because the forces in power don't have any idea of where we want to be, just that they know where we think we don't want to be.
Take care folks, see you about.

Anyone else notice that the only people to reply and answer this have less then 300 posts?
Man... if only these n00bs would realize that...
THIS POST WILL NEVER MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN IT COMES TO THE SMUGGLER REVAMP AND ALSO THAT THIS POST IS TOTALLY USELESS.

It may sound strange, but I always buy my slicing equipment (I'm too lazy to make it myself
). If resources mattered, prices and crates of decent equipment would skyrocket. Slicing is already expensive enough... I usually spend 100k+ on supplies (crates of knives, WUKs, AUKs, clamps) about every week.

You're too funny, you call anyone with under 300 posts a n00b. Many veteran players only use this forum as a reference. I actually used to post on the forums as far back as spring of 2001, when this game was but a idea. I got sick of the FIRST!, and SECOND! posts that imature people used to have a competition with.
Judging people by the number of posts they have is folly, anyone could easily post 300 messages in one day.
"Judge me by my size, do you? Hmmm?"

No, not at all.
I've posted in these last few pages myself, and my post count is high also.
So, no.

One of the things that really seems to help Thunderheart get results is to have real metrics to back up requests. This thread is designed to do that.
Please reply to this thread once if possible to make it easier on me when I tally up the totals. Please refrain from voting if you are not a smuggler (honor system).
A. Remove experimentation entirely from Molecular clamps, Upgrade Kits, and Laser Knives. Everything works like today, totally random slices, experimentation and resources don't make a difference.
B. Make resources and experimentation affect slicing results. Better resources and more experimentation points result in higher probabilities of good slices.
Goal: To give Thunderheart a real number for what the smuggler community feels like about this.

this would be a lot of fun for smugglers who want to play that way- those who are combat concerned lose nothing.
