How do I feel about things recently?? , well , my head booldy hurts from all the twattings we've had from the ole nerf/ignore smuggler completely bat recently.

Why cant we just smuggle???

I think Smugglers should have a larger role in the game, not just slice but to do some real smuggling missions for e.g Jabba, TheAlliance, Nym or someone else (and maybe get on the terms if they fail?). I also think that Smuggler slice should be more useful.

Lucasarts doesn't make movies. They make video games. They are a single division of Lucasfilm

Now if you also want to boycott Lucasfilm, you should not see any movie that uses ILM visual effects or Skywalker Sound foley and sound effects. Any theater that uses THX sound protocols should also be boycotted, as they have to be licensed, and the money for that goes to Lucas. Of course, by doing this, you'll probably never again be able to see a decent movie. But, hey! It's the principle of the matter!

Seriously, I think SOE's in-game customer support is pretty good. I've heard the horror stories, but every CSR in EQ, SWG and EQ2 that I've come across has been fair and pleasant to talk to. There is a serious lack of communication, and it's incredibly aggravating. I don't think it's something over which it's worth getting that worked up, but to each his own.

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions and think that the lack of communication means we're not getting our due. The point was made that this game is effectively run by two companies. Lucasarts themselves have to report to Lucasfilm and Lucas Licensing. I would think that everything as big as the FRS changes, a smuggling system, and any other major changes or additions would require a great deal of time to maneuver through the bureaucracy. Lucas is not known for his trust of others when it comes to his creations.

I was in beta 3, and I've been playing retail since December of 2003. I have a love of "broken" professions. My main character has beena pistoleer/smuggler since January of 2004. I had a droid engineer alt and rerolled into a ranger. I'm not ready to quit yet. I am hoping we will see some communication soon regarding this matter. Perhaps I'm simply more tolerant of corporate BS than some people. I don't take it personally, because nothing is personal when it comes to corporations. In my view, the combat upgrade is one of the best things to happen to this game. Had it not been for the CU, I'd likely not be playing now. But everyone has his own opinions, and some do not share mine. That's fine.

Set your date if you want. But don't expect me to jump aboard the cancellation bandwagon just yet. I finally see promise in this game again. I want a smuggling system badly. I've been one of the biggest proponents for contraband and smuggling. But I'm not ready to give up on it yet.




Yeah, it will be hard and maybe not possible all the time to boycott Lucasfilms but boycotting Sony and Lucasarts should be fairly easy.


I too was in beta for the last 3 months and have been playing since live...as a Smuggler.


Their track record on SMUGGLING and communicating with us is exactly NIL so I don't see how it's jumping to conclusions to think they aren't going to give us meaningful smuggling content OR start communicating any time soon...if ever. It sure seems to me to be the logical conclusion after over two years of a big fat nothing from them.


I'm one that would disagree on the CU with you. I found the removal of the 9-component HAM system and BF a HUGE dumbing-down of this game. In fact the trend since release has been toward the instant-gratification crowd.


Where exactly do you see "promise" in this game? From the CU? Or maybe from the gutting of professions like the entertainers? Or yet more broken promises about smuggling content? Or more loot camping? How about the way they've tied in JTL with the ground game so well? Or the rarity of Jedi and how well they fit in the game with the non-Jedi professions?


I set a deadline late last year of July 31, that was well over six months to get us some smuggling content. My deadline isn't obviously going to be met so I preemptively cancelled. And I WILL hold Sony and LA accountable, in my own small way, for broken promises, poor customer communications and a trend I can't stomach.


And, btw, SWG has in-game support???? I've never seen it.

I will only pay for a game I enjoy to play.
I, currently, don't enjoy playing SWG.

So my account has been cancelled, and it will NOT be renewed ever.

As far as I can recall, they told you a lot of things at different times, not all of which were true. This sounds as a rather lame excuse. Try to get a LA employee to talk to you and I bet he'll tell you something about the incompetence of the developers who just can't seem to implement anything that's asked of them.

I like accountability. It doesn't seem though that anyone involved in producing this game wants to be accountable for what they do...or don't do.

I have NO clue if it is SOE or LA that is royally screwing SWG up. However I do know that SOE is directly responsible for the development effort and more importantly for communicating with us. So they are my first target.

Lucas Arts may very well pull the strings from the shadows.

I think they actually like the current set up for it allows for near perfect evasion of responsibility. They can eternally point fingers at each other.

well, smuggler was always busted in my opinion, but i played a smuggler since launch and im still one, if only for the devientstyle that smugglers have and the underhanded coolness that they represent. but ive always been VERY dissapointed that since the game started that smugglers have NEVER... EVER... been able to smuggle anything. which really blows in my opinion... but i was willing to overlook that because its cool to be a smuggler...


also, since launch smugglers have always been really weak. so when the CU came along (which i was dreading by the way, because im also a master commando and we got Raped by the CU...) smuggler got stronger and much more fun because of the root ability given to us from cuncussion shot and snare was great too... but then the loudmouth majority of whining jedi freak losers got angry that we were too strong and poof there goes the one thing that made us fun and actually combat capable... and again ill say... THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY FARKING JEDI IN THIS GAME, AND THEY COMPLAIN LIKE BABIES!!!!!


also i dont like the slicing changes either. nothing like making master smugglers almost usless because of the STUPID new loot system. now we either have to buy or loot good components to produce reasonably OK slices... this is almost as bad as when greedypeople started selling locked containers (that newb smugglers NEED to advance in slicing xp) for 6k a pop. now thats just low.


i also heard (and this is only a rumor so far) that they are going to get rid of spices too, instead of making them usefull...or more fun..they are dumping one of the coolest and potentially VERY FUN elements of the game....this is almost as bad as dumping BF... its idiotic..

Actually, there's a lot more going on right now than most people know. Some shuffling of employment...stuff like that.

And the people that have lied to me the most are the people at LA (with the exception of one person.)

No disrespect, but don't you understand that LA calls all the shots? They decide what's important for the devs to work on, not the suits at SOE. They decide that Jedi is a much more valuable avenue to pursue, and that goes down the chain of command. I guarantee you there's someone at LucasArts in Marketing saying, "our focus testing says that Jedi is where the money is, don't worry so much about other content, just make those Jedi happy and we'll all be RICH!" I hate even thinking that's what's happening, but it is. Granted, I do think that SOE could do more, but with LA pulling the puppet strings, it's more than likely SOE can't really grow a backbone and tell them, "No." That would most likely be in violation of whatever contract they have, and when it comes down to it, they DO run a business, and losing money probably isn't in their best interest.

Jees people.... I knida like the Slicing aspect of the Smuggler...Ive been a Master Smuggler for a while now..And Today ive had like around 10 people say they love the Extra Speed and dps I sliced into there rifels...I do agree however that Smugglers cant Smuggle for run contraband across the galaxy like one of the most popular characters in Star Wars did (Han Solo).



But I cant agree with all the flaming pointed toward SOE and LA....Think about it..They have how many games to take care of??..And think of how many people are on each game they develop...I think it would be hard to listen and remeber what every person Complaines or cryes about in every game they develop...


Sure they should know that smugglers need to get revamped...But they have other prof. in SWG..and the countless other Skills/Prof. in all the other games to revamp also...Give the people a break..They gave you a game to play for 2 years havent they???


If you didnt like the game...would you actually play it for 2 years paying every month??? For a game you didnt like??? Obviouslly there was somthing there that kept you in the game for 2 years...!!
