Why does that sound so damn familiar?
Bad late 70's song and I think it was featured in a Keven Bacon movie about bike-messengers.

Look my original post was because you call Han a man of "Low Moral Fiber" and sorry but your wrong. Ok so lets discount the EU and just talk about ANH. At the end of the movie Han had his money and was ready to leave before the attack on the Death Star, a man of "Low Moral Fiber" would have just left.
THANK YOU.
Han did not he stayed and help the rebellion showing he was more than a typical smuggler.
Now, yes, here is where I believe the problem is. Ana-Icantspellorusepunctuationcorrectly-mo-cara isjumping to conclusions by assuming that everyone feels that EVERY smuggler should be "more than a typical smuggler" and one of "high moral fiber" like Han was. I certainly won'tsay he's a saint; in fact, Han was a scoundrel, and that's why I'm a smuggler. What I'm getting at,everyone, is that this argument will forever go around in circles because some people think ALL Smugglers should have high moral fiber, and some people think ALL smugglers should have no morals. The truth is that some people will be high moral fiber smugglers and some will not. Ana-mo-cara, I have no desire to personally respond to your posts anymore (mainly because I think most of them are self-serving and poorly written for someone your age,) but I decided to post here because I feel fairly strongly on this issue. There will always be a mix, not everyone can be as bad as Han Solo was bad, and not everyone will be as good as Han Solo was good. His extremes (and everything inbetween) will be played out to each individual's choice.
Was he a Scoundel, sure...was he a rogue? sure... Im not saying he was agoodie goodie but for you to say he had"Low Moral Fiber" is just wrong, that my friend was what I was commenting on. Since you refuse to address the EU the fact that he stayed after he got his credits proves he was more then a common thug and dont try the Leia love line either cause that relationship grew in ESB. Han may have thought she was hot but he knew her and Luke for what 3 days, maybe. Not enough time for a thug to drop his life and devote it to a woman.
Also agreed; the Love storyline between Han and Leia didn't occur until ESB, so there is no reason to bring that up as a reason he came back. He's Han Solo, I'm sure he could have easily flown back to Jabba's Palace and banged Oola if he felt like it. The guy was a rogue, remember? He didn't need to prove himself in order to getinto a woman's panties. If I had to make a wager (and I'm 100% sure on it,)I'd say ladies threw themselevs at him on a regular basis. He went back because he had a conscience, no matter how small or insignificant.
Just my two cents.

Now Im sorry but Ive been forced to do this:
Ladies and Gentleman of this supposed jury I have one final thing I want you to consider. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that, that does not make sense. Why would an eight foot tall Wookiee want to live on Endor with a bounch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself what does this have to do with this case? Nothing, ladies and getleman it has nothing to do with this case. Ladies and gentlemen I am not making any sense, none of this makes sense. And so you have to remember when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the emancipation proclamation....does it make sense? No....Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury , it does not make sense. If Chewbacca lives on Endor, you must acquit!
Now look at the monkey...look at the monkey!
LOL, the Chewbacca defense... they never even expected it!
(just like the Spanish Inquisition!)

When I say zany missions I am talking about these egocentric missions people are talking about. You grab a package see, and as you go to the delivery point. You get jumped by thugs and assassins, and other guys out to get you and so on.
Heres why these will not work.
A. Way too compicated to be setting up entire story arcs of set up in advance attacks along the way.
B. Like it or not stormies are easy to avoid searchwise. All you do is avoid the npc dots on your radar.
C. These would in the end be glorified delivery missions, and there is nothing more redundant in the game as delivery missions.
D. Even the bounty missions. Which sound like they should be more effort intensive are not. You grab a mission talk to a op and then send out droids. Till you follow the target to ground. No story arc. No interogateing npcs for info. No takeing target alive or in custody. These are just drawn out search and destroy. So what do you think smuggler missions would be. Yea, but at least the BH interacts with real people with Jedi missions. I agree if you smugglers continue to rabble for only smuggling run missions, you will get bored. There needs to be variety.
If you want some serious smuggler action. Haveing a variation is the way to go. You need missions to slice security. You need missions to smuggler contraband. You need missions to make spices. The only other alternative is to have quest like missions. Where smuggler has to go from point to point over and over again.
What would be cool smuggler missions.
Extortion missions be hired muscle to shakedown npcs would just be cool to unarmed a merchant up to get him to pay up.
Pickpocketing missions. Let smugglers steal from npcs.
Kidnapping missions allow smugglers to go out and kidnap children to sell into slavery.
Slavetradeing missions allow smugglers to buy and sell slaves. Just like pets. Other players can buy them as ornamental pets, or they can free them and get rewards from doing so. Slave trading might be a bad idea, lol. Political correctness.
Intercepting other NPC smugglers with cargo and taking their payload.
Hotwiring Imperial speeders in order to sneak spice in them past starport blockades.
Assassinating figures who are a thorn in your or your crimeboss' operations.
Slicing into weapons/spice/bank depots.
Or just plain old beating up people... it's fun! (no, i'm not sick)
See there its rp material which gives spice to a profession just like all the rest. The fun part is all of these can be implemented with little effort. Since they can run off the rescue mission format. The search and destroy format. Heck the pickpocketing can run off search lair and milk creature.
I think if other players saw smugglers selling slaves, running extortion rackets, kidnapping children, slavetradeing in front of the bank. They would agree man thats very starwarsy, and its fun to watch. Personally I would love to have a slave that would follow me around and say nice things to me. Then again I would love the looks I would get from other players the first time I kidnapped a little child.
We do not need these huge story arced missions. We need missions that are undeniably criminal. If you do not like them sure you could do contraband delivery missions, but smugglers are criminals and should get to act like it. Exactly. I do bad things in this game because in real life, I don't get to. (yes, yet another joke, you can laugh)

Question how politically correct is the game now. Really number one mission in the game, and the answer is go out and kill something that doesent deserve it.
Thats right step right up and pick your poison.
Will it be genocideing an indiginous people.
Perhaps biological warfare on a species.
I just think slave tradeing and kidnapping would be cool. Its a motife in starwars anyway. So in that sense they are shameing some powerful moral commentary from the starwars universe. Droids are enslaved people are enslaved. The republic used enslaved clones in episode two. The republic tolerated slavery in episode 1. In episode four droids werent allowed in the cantina.
That might be something the entire game is lacking. Any undercurrent of morality tales. The attack on caste system tolerance. The points on forgiveness and redemption. Starwars will never be a great moral narative, but its there. Its also important. Why is this material so lacking in the game.
Senseless killing.... that is fine... it's in every movie and every game. That has always been entertainment.
Slavery.... not so good.... the US is a country recently stamping out slavery and its effects of discrimination even till this day. You don't want to go there. It is Martin Luther King Jr. day, perhaps the clearest sign that players in this game should not deal in the slave trade.
I can imagine young people who play this game going to their parents... "Hey mom, check out my slaves!!! They're cool!!!" Slaves = not cool. I'm not trying to be political or retarded here. It wouldn't be accepted by our society.
I am amazed that there are even illegal drugs in this game, andam glad that they are.
All of you
Maybe we should change the name of the profession to 'scoundrel!'
And change one of the two trees nobody uses to the smuggling tree! Which will give us a "smuggler" title!
And then we can all dance!
Hoorah!
