Thread: Anyone else think the TEF/BASE changes spell the end of smuggler.

The real question is do you think smuggler a profession based on other players haveing a shortcomeing will be tolerated ina carebear friendly game. Its one more step down a slippery slope. The real annoyance is the farther you go down the path the more the community will demand that nothing interfere with their own little induced fantasy.

1. If you can camp in peace you will camp in peace. Buying faction points is not cheap. Whereas camping a base or two is. Especially since the pve bases will be super hard. AKA buff time. Though if they are only killable by tka I am sure some people will just scream loudly and have them reduced.

2. If anything the onleave status means the crackdown is officially over, and the fact that forces will redistribute means one thing only. There will no longer be a contraband system in the game. The carebears didnt like it, and the imp immersion strike forces did not want it so its pretty much gone. It costs more to upkeep my speeder then pay off the stormies.

3. Spices are only big issue use in pvp now as it is. You have spice on your person for just incase. Just incase you run into a scan or another overt, and spice builds really fast. In the new system there is no situation where a pvp player will not be doctor buffed.

4. We just gota kiss on our rears of a no faction point cap aslong as you climb high enough into a faction, and thus neutrals are screwed. This was the big compensation for the total destruction of our limited smuggle ability and our fp sales. In other words we are reduced only to sliceing.

TH did say, "If you are PvP Enabled and are killed in combat, you will be reset to PvP Disabled when you clone.", so no worries there.

On leave players will still be scanned and suffer the penalties as they would normally

There are some things brought up in this thread that I'm not sure on the answer to, so I'm checking on those now and will have to get back to you.

There's also some stuff I really want to share with you, but simply can't at this point; nothing earth shattering, but know it made me "Whoop" when I saw it .

P.S. No need to shout Veela, I'm around 99% of the time (although yesterday was the exception, I slept through most of it; all work and no sleep make Wes a gibbering idiot )

The problem is that the fines for scans are chump change. In other words its cheaper to be caught then actually use a smuggler ability. The same penalties as in paying the fine. Like I said it costs more to keep up my speeder then to pay the stormies. Infact players spend less now in game in the form of money sinks then they ever did in the past. So there is actually no real hardship.

Will people flip over for faction points to buy a pve base. I just do not see it. Its the same problem with the pvp bases. Infact its the same backwards no reward system all over again.

So what if one side or another controls a planet where is the reward an on leave player can walk around unmolested anyway. So the question I have to ask is why anyone would waste points or money to give other players content. Why would I erect a pve base. Seeing as it gives me no bonus, and yet gives content to the other side?

On the other side the things that most players need fp for are now going to last forever. ATST can now be used with no down side at all. Faction pets can be used with no downside at all. While I would say there is still the pvp bases. I have to ask with the fifteen minute death penalty, and the fact that the recruiter is inside the base. How hard will it be to keep a pvp base unless you gather up 100 players to defend. People will start to tire of that after a time. Especially once they end up loseing a pvp base once a week.

But if the fine is a proportional thing then it's not chump change.

Reality check the devs rarely make logical choices on reward. I remember when on the cries of alderan third story arc. A imp came onto the sunrunner forum and said hey sunrunner rebs how does it feal that your the only rebs in galaxies that did not outdo the imperials on the story arc.

A near unanimous retort came up. So what its not like we get anything for it. We lose for winning. We win we get 2 more faciton points for a mission, but your faction perk costs go down 25percent. It was true the devs tainted victory by manageing to reward the losers.

If you think the devs will actually give you any semblance of a decent reward for controlling a planet your crazy. You will get something thats hardly worth the effort. Like a new carpet, or a model to put on a bench. It will never be anything that hurts the other side. Like not permitting the imps to mine krayt dragons, or go to the geonosian cave on yavin.

In other words any reward will most likely be a statement of fluff. Something you could have done without in the first place.

on that subject, i remember reading that the benefit of planetary control is NPC's of your faction patrolling the cities.

and btw, no the devs have not been perfect in the past, but at least now they are trying to do something that the majority of the player-base has been asking for. just because you or me or anyone else doesn't like every bit of how it sounds doesn't make it a bad system. the truth is none of us has a fact-based opinion on all of thisbecause it hasn't even hit friggin' TC yet. so the opinions we have now come from nothing more than our own speculation and the few facts provided thus far by the devs, all of which are subject to change.

If you're this worked up over something maybe its time you step back for a second. Being this emotionally tied up and frustrated in a game isn't healthy.

And for the record, the sunrunner imps wheren't the only ones to win the 3rd arch.. There were like 3 or 4 servers that managed to pull it off. We did it on kauri too.

Kauri IMPS ROCK!! faction sales are all the more profitable having won 125 fp for 10k instead of 100fp at same cost, gives a better built-in profit margin

Decaf Ana, decaf.

This is not the first time a change has "spelled the end for smugglers" we are still here.

sit tight, wait and see how it goes. Making a bunch of noise about something you only know part of the information about is folly.

If you MUST get all worked up on the subject, make it be worthwhile. Rail about how you don't have the info etc..

ana , so far the debate have been polite. Let's avoid letting it go down to the name calling level. It is not productive.

well, as for some useful rewards, go check out the post by TH where he talks about new veteran rewards.there are three categories, one of which id "For-the-Field". these I feel are some useful items, well, for the field. one of them i can remember is an anti-decay kit kind of thing that you get to use on any one item of your choice. this makes that one item basically last forever, since it will never decay. now granted there is also a "For-the-home" category and a "For-Fun" category, but they are diversifying the veteran rewards and the field ones are useful in actual combat and such, and are not decorations or "fluff"

Well maybe they should just make the veteran rewards super weapons with damage based on the Fibonacci sequence. Would you be happy then?
