When EQ came out, I thought that MMORPG Space Game would be the shizat. My original thought that something off the Wing Commander seires would have been cool allowing a person to play both sides of the conflict or be a privateer. I really wanted to play a privateer/smuggler.
When I heard about SWG, I thought "Yes Finally! And in the Star Wars universe Too! Cool!"
I find myself still waiting and wondering. How the heck can SOE make die-hard Star Wars fans quit SWG? Out of the 30+ member PA I started in, there are only 4 who still play. I still have their names in my friends list, It's like a graveyard of dead characters.

hahaha damn straight! i got this game for SMUGGLER, sure jedi sounds cool...but wow...they swing around a lightsaber and screw up the timeline...we are doing exactly what we should be doing (w/o the whole smuggling thing which should be fixed soon)

No interest in being a Jedi. Limited interest in the GCW. All I want is a smuggler that can smuggle.

All I ever wanted to do in this game was smuggle. The devs (or anybody else) who think you can't smuggle without space ships are morons. I never wanted to be a slice monkey. I never wanted to be a drug dealer. All of you demanding improvements to spice crafting and slicing can all go to hell. I want nothing more or less than smuggling in this game.
When it became clear that I would never be able to smuggle, I started my holo-grind. Since my first holocron said to master BH, I had to drop smuggler completely. I remastered it immediately after mastering my second holocron profession of ranger.
I've dropped the master box once more since then to master doctor and CM. I still haven't unlocked, and I'm still grinding away (3 more to master all 32). Even though it's slowing me down, I refuse to drop my master smuggler box. I know I was cheated out of being able to smuggle or do anything I really wanted to do in this game.
All I have left is an empty title (literally and figuratively), and I refuse to let it go.

I started playing about three weeks ago. I tried Ranger at first but soon found out it was boring, and from a role-playing point of view too 'noble'; I wanted to be bad-ass. Thought about becoming a Bounty Hunter but with the upcoming JTS expansion I thought smuggler would be the ultimate bad-ass. Even if the profession is currently 'broken', I'm having fun just because of the fact I'm a nasty Bothan Smuggler.

That was the profession template I planned on long before it was finally released. When I saw what it ended up being, I held off for quite some time before I picked it up. I was finally enticed by the upcoming changes that were mentioned and decided it was time to go with what I really wanted to do. Since then... it's been very dissapointing.
But yes, that's why I got this game in the first place. I wanted a ship someday, a trusty blaster by my side... and maybe even a wookie.

I always loved Han Solo, even the trilogy on him. Made being a smuggler on here a great idea.
