Thread: Those Devs really hate Neutrals

During the progression through SA, you do missions for Jabba that helps the Imperials since he is making some sort of deal with them. You don't actually help the Rebels until your vette mission.
yeah, i work for the SA.
but only CorSec gets to choose which vette mission to take.
is there an official ruling on this? gotta find one....this is gunna bug me all day.

Waitaminute! I get it now (I think).
You want there to be a Neutral faction that can attack and be attacked by everyone, right?
I mean, right now there is nothing stopping you from attacking any NPC. No matter what faction it is (am I wrong here?). And they will attack you if you break the law or have bad faction with them or good faction with their enemies- so...
If we had a Neutral faction (for players) that could take on anyone at anytime the GCW would be dead and this would not be Star Wars but something other set in a SW realm.
Nope. What I'm saying is that police factions should act like police factions. If they're going to attack when somebody fails a contraband scan, they need to attack everybody. They're being recognised as criminals and faction should not come into play except maybe when they're letting people off the hook since the police would then have to answer to the people occupying their system.
Now I know the argument that they shouldn't just start shooting people for it. I think they should, but in response to that argument, why not have them lose a lot of faction with that police unit so that they will eventually become criminals and attacked by that faction.
Really folks, what I'm saying has nothing to do with attacking or being attacked by Imperials or Rebels, however fun or logicial it can be.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh ![]()
I was under the IMPression that neutrals scanned everyone for contrabandAND (depending on which faction is in control) for faction.
I thought that if you failed to stop or ran from a scan youWOULD be attacked and of course killing a neutral faction results in loss of favor with that faction and therefore hunted by that...uh, faction.
Is this wrong?
If it isn't this way then that DOES suck...
Oh well, at least I'm a rebel- ![]()

I'm not talking about the occupying force, I'm talking about the police force. (I know you mentioned Iraq above, but I'm not getting into that can of worms. I happen to know a lot about that place, and to be honest these changes do not reflect it quite like you think.) - truly im not qulified to debat that with you.
I have no problem with factions staying within factions, I'm talking about the fact that police factions are now being included. They should be policing. They should be treating criminals as crimnals. They are their enemies. - they are not enemies they are criminals or they are simplycivilians breaking the law that is a big difference enemeys of the state are rebels or imps depending on your point of view.
Look, if i get busted with a "J" in my pocket the cops dont shoot me in the face, killing me on sight. They might arrest me or write me a ticket (depends on what state your in). Now if iwanted to over turn a governmet by force you had better believe I would be shot on sight. The game is set up correctly
They should be giving the free pass to the occupying force. They are the ones who would come down on them if they treated their people like criminals. - again Rebels/Imps are not civilians and civilians are NOT the enemy
Everybody here knows the fines mean nothing. Nobody ever complained about fines. Nobody ever said they were oppressed by the fines. - thats kinda the point they want people involved in the GCW you want opression join a faction.
Where the complaints came from was being attacked because the were a member of an opposing faction when they failed a scan. That's why there's a mix for the Rebels and Imperials to have the same potential consequences. - = balance
I'm just saying that now that they are involving police factions, treat criminals like criminals, not like faction members. -again civilians are not the enemey you fail to make that distinction
You can still have the same effect while including neutrals in the mix, and probably even encourage crafters to join a faction so they can get a free pass on some planets. - killing a civilian for breaking the law simply does not make sence.
We all know what jump starts lead to. Six months of wait for something to happen for the rest of you. - /rolleyes Ive been here as long as you we all know this argument, im tired of it... I would rather enjoy the game hope the new changes keep coming and try to be positive.
If it was a jump start, they would be talking about expanding it next, not vendor changes. - they said very clearly that many fast changes were going to happen beyond what other things they were planning for re-vamps and patches and yes they have said it before be they have actually been doing it lately.
The GCW down the road means nothing as long as they maintain the tune of "pick a side". - huh? that is the point of a war in general, there would never be war if no one picked a side.
There's no comfort in knowing that there's a GCW revamp that will still happen down the road. If anything, it's all the more reason to include more people in these changes so they won't be ignored for so long.
What do you think will happen if they put a bunch of changes for neutrals in a GCW revamp (not that it would happen)? - honestly...too many people will go neutral and the war will suffer. I really dont see a problem at all with the pick a side argument and as far as civilians being killed for breakin the law it makes no sence at all. The only 2 things that will not happen by being a civilianare
A. you cant help faction frinds.
B. you wont be killed for failing a scan.
Over all not a big deal, you want a fight join a side.

Not really what I'm arguing for, but just a question for some of you:
How does having to sit by as an Imperial and watch Rebels cut down Stormtroopers and not be able to do anything about it make things more like Star Wars? Or more warlike for that matter?
What these changes say to me is more, pick a side since there's only consequences for your choices when you want there to be.
Ok, back on topic.
While you and I have been going back and forth on Neutrals you will get no agrument from me on this one for sure. It's funny I was in the GCW forum bashing people who wanted to do away with the tef system right as the update post was made.![]()

Yer both right.
It's totally unrealistic and silly.
If we could just get everyone on every server to agree to play by the rules, make clean kills, be courteous afterwards and toremember it's just a gameso it's nottruly MURDER whenanotheravatar kills your avatar- THEN we could get down to theREALStar Wars goodness...
Back in semi reality though- this will just be another trade off. It was pretty unrealistic when as a rebel I would walk up to NPCsdrink my brandy, eat my food, dose up on spice and then commence to kickin' their ass before they even said boo.

It doesn't have anything to do with Star Wars, it doesn't have anything to do with a realistic game world, and is just plain horrible. But when you say it out loud, you get labeled a griefer and a ganker.

I've been in both factions, and I could never stay for long. I see all my fellow faction members running around, I see the purple names, and I just want to kill every one of them. I get this sick feeling after being in a faction for a couple days, and I have to quit it. It's true, really.
Zane this was the post i was referencing with the mass murder comment...so someone did kinda mention it.
As for police factions and not being involved in the war...the cor-sec involved themselves at times and the rsf as well. I do agree about the comment of when did it become more acceptable to publish content for the npcs than the players though.
I hope that if they ever do get around to publishing a police/underworld release they don't make it in such a way that you cannot be gcw factioned or gcw factionless and participate. I would hope to see imperial and rebel players that are soldiers or sympathisers as well as cops or low-lifes. dirty soldiers, neutral rogues, maybe even the possibilty to be cop and low-life for that dirty cop job.
I have been all for a 3rd faction as long as it doesn't require that the gcw factions be taken away from. I think there should be a place for civilians and content as well but I do agree with the idea of ever present war Empire Divided not Empire Undecided.
