Thread: A chuckle for the smuggler

Just for laughs, I'll tell you my story.

I had been saving up for weeks to buy my frist set of armor and boy was I proud when I finally got it (running around doing missions for 1.5k, it takes a while). On my way back I went through coronet and there was a smuggler specifically sayingthat shesliced armor, what she said was 3k for armor slices. I had never had anything sliced before so I send her a tell asking if it was 3k for each piece or 3k for the suit. She replies 3k for armor slices. I look at my bank account 7k left and go what the heck for 3k it couldn't hurt to try, so I wander up and give her my suit, she starts rattling off numbers, I'm impressed and when it comes time to pay I put in 3k. Trade cancled and she tells me 3k per piece and I paniced. I tell her I don't have that much, how long will she be on, she says 40 minutes. Okay, I'll go run missions and come back with the credits 33 minutes later I return and I get my armor back with this muon thing, I stand there with a dumb expression and she says it will help my mind so I thank her profusely for not keeping my hard earned armor and she tips me back 10k (she earned lots of brownie points for that). Iwent tofight critters with my new armorand myspecials startchewing through my mind, so I take the muon and prestoproblem fixed and a light bulb goes off in my head, muon addict created. Wish I could remember her name, I'd like to repay the favor, it wasn't the best slice I've ever had but it was the nicest slicer.

Flip side, several suits of armor later I find a smuggler to slice a new set, turn it over to him, he rattles off the numbers and returns the armor to me. Only as soon as I look at it, it hasn't been sliced he just said things (I know because I write down the stats when buyingso I would know if I have to do a stat migration). He won't refund my money and wants to charge me another 27k to slice it again (like I would fall for that twice).I do remember his name. Now whenever I have something sliced I always check it in the trade window, some lessons have to be learned the hard way I guess.

Ok, its a bit amusing:

Although I love being a master smuggler, I dont walk around with the Tag, and certainly not the slicer tag either. I dont like being bugged... So, what do I use instead? Surveyer. Kinda cool for PvP, a Surveyer kicked your butt. Im just checking things out... I have already given up artisan for points, but kept the tag.

Anyhow, I was watching a dancer when I get this tell:
"Hey can you make me some wookie clothing?"
I thought to myself- WTH? oh, ya the tag...
Reply: "Sorry I can't, try a tailor"

Then, a couple days later, while on my speeder:
"Greetings, I was wondering if you might help me"
I think, "Wow, someone who can type!"
Reply: "Yes, what do you need?"
"Im a bit new to the game, and have lost my CDEF pistol, I was wondering if you could make me a new one."
...
"Uh, you might want to try a weponshop"
"Do you know of any that have CDEF pistols?"
I think- hum, good point. "Well, you should be able to get one free (or something better) from almost anyone you bump into."

And now, I am annonymous.

Me: Well think of it this way, why doesn't a master armorsmith "give out" the schematics for his comp armor?

*Silence*

Now seriously folks, this guy wanted me to just give away knowledge and skills my character possessed, that is entirely wrong. And the worst part was that this came form another Smuggler, I thought we were supposed to be intellegent... Either the guy was a holo chaser or we need to do some selective weeding of the ranks

It seems to me that the schematic created by the armorsmith is unique to the armorsmith. He can use experimenting and resources of various qualities in various stats to create myriad types of composite armor.

Your clamp schematic, on the other hand, is cookie cutter. It is no different in quality or effectiveness than the clamp created by any other schmuck who has the Slicing IV box. The schematic doesn't reflect your knowledge and it doesn't reflect your skills.

I know you think the silence you were answered with is some sort of victory, but I assure you it is not.

By the way, when I was working on the Slicing tree with my character on Corbantis, I had a smuggler make a schematic for me.

Free of charge.

The thread is still funny (lol) I meant the serious, rl, downer inducing recent part

As an aside, not a smuggler story but since I am a smuggler it's darn well gonna be.

A guildmate and I decide to both team up and get Nym's Badge. We're in the pirate cave (both near master pistoleers as well) just blasting away and I see him loot a twin force crystal. I comment on voice chat "Woah, dude. Nice loot, check your inventory." A little later I loot and get an item and he just busts out laughing over chat. I check my inventory and see that the Karmic god of smuggler reaming (j/k) has been at work again. A wooden staff. It all turned around the next time when I got a ... CDEF pistol...

The first day the Geonosian Cave opened, I was at the first code-required door and a guy ran up to me.

Guy - "no how to get in there?"

Me - "I think so, yeah."

Guy - "u need a passkey"

Me - "Right. I don't have it."

Guy - "ill sell it to you for 25k"

Me, after slicing the terminal - "I'll pass, thanks"

Guy - "lair, u noob"

He was then killed by an enhanced kliknik that I trained on him with the good old "aggro and feign death" tactic. I'm a CM/Carbineer now, but I do miss my smuggling days...
