Thread: For the Old Smugglers, I Got Question
What annoyed me the most was two things, first I was criticized for making a post about a game related issue, albeit non-smuggler when the board was filled with a host of those enjoyable Darth Vader v. Superman-esque posts, none of which got the same lecture from this person. Second, that no one seemed to notice or care. It was then I realized no matter how much I tried, I wouldn't be one of the "in crowd," like the many old timers you mentioned. I didn't make a federal case of it, but it sure put me in my place and now I am very reluctant to cross the line and suffer the indignation of the real old timers, and it is harder to feel good about this community. Granted I'm not something of the order of Caylin, Geevo, Fishbrains, et. al., but I used to think I had a home here....now I'm not so sure. I continue to post here and read what's posted because despite others opinion as to my legitimacy and place as a member of the community, I'm here because I love to play a smuggler.
Despite all this I still believe it is the best profession and the best community even if I'm just some insignificant noob to the majority of people here, and have great hopes (there goes my master cynic title) for the future of the profession.
I will, however, try to obey the rules that apply to us lower class smugglers and stick to appropriate topics as best I can and leave the fun posts to the upper class "real" old timers.

Goliath will not be posting under his Dev account ...because of how WE (The Smuggler Community) treated him. (He PMd me after the episode because I was the one that recommended that he come to say hi).
That is just wrong, plain and simple. He is a player, like us. He is a Smuggler, like us. He works, like us ... it just happens to be for SOE.
Nothing we can do will change the past ... but I hope we can change the future.
Yeah, there's many ways that coulda gone, easily better, and some worse. The big problem was that Tiggs came in and made a big deal out of it by saying she had a treat for us. Goliath, I got no problem with him. He's cool. But when a developer goes into any profession forum and says "Surprise! We managed to find a second developer who plays a Smuggler, but he doesn't have any say in the profession design at all. Isn't that great!"; well,to put it bluntly, its gonna piss a few of us off.
I mean, it is expected that a given developer(At least adeveloper that does work directly relating to professions, how they work, interaction, etcetera. This is where Art-guys like Goliath gets off easy.
) should have a decent grasp of how a handfull of professions play. I don't expect *every* one of them to know *all* of them, but seriously. A year and a half, and we have two confirmed devs who play as Smugglers?
I admit, my comments on the thread sounded kinda harsh when I read over them. I've appologized for that. It was never intended. But that still doesn't excuse what the devs have done.
