Please no politics...
Please no Religous talk either. You are discussing a Catholic Feast day, and as a Catholic I'm offended that you blatantly insult it by using it as an exscuse to get drunk.

I'm Catholic and I use it as an excuse to drink. /hi5 self
Politics and religion discussions never end well so let's just drop it. No one wants a fight here....
I'll drop it but just for the record if you where Irish you'd jump at the chance of a fight hehe.
Not to dredge this up, but if all of you were truly celebrating your heritage you wouldn't be celebrating this holiday. Since St. Patrick was the arse who converted all the "heathens" to his faith and away from their true Celtic beliefs. (Except for the ones that they couldn't convince them to give up so they converted the "holiday" into one of their own)
Anyone proud of their Celtic past would scoff at the notion of celebrating the man who nearly destroyed their way of life.
Sorry ifI offended anyone.

Sheesh. I don't think anyone's celebrating St. Paddy's day because we're so all fired up about St. Patrick. We're all fired up about being drunk. So who cares have a beer.

Well...Christmas is another holiday that is mostly non-Christian traditions, and another attempt to convert "pagans" by stealing their sacred celebrations and making them their own...but yeah you're right.
Your view is pretty much how I view all holidays, enjoy it for what it is today, and not give a crap about what it really means. Just, to some people, what it means is everything yet they don't have a full picture of what that really is. I was dumb and thought it necessary to point it out in the light of how the topic was being discussed.
So yeah, it was fun, and I did (grab a beer that is)....and even wore a St. Patty's Day t-shirt and enjoyed being a mere 25% Irish. Hooray for beer!
