Since I recently deleted my MS, my vote might not count but I give it to Caylin. His revamp thread is one of the most creative posts I've seen and if smuggler became anything like it, I'd take up the profession again.

To become off topic, it hurted me to drop MS. I think smuggler is the profession that is most promising of all in swg if they get it right and I picked it because it seemed like it was time for some love for it, but since I started 3 months ago, things have become worse As a rhodian smuggler all I was good for was slicing.

Caylin, no offense, but you are wrong on too many things for me to even think about supporting you. Vipposk is dead right.

Did you read what Vipposk wrote? If you say he is dead right...

My vote is to my fellow Bria brother, Caylin. I was leery of this Lode guy from the second he got the position... and since he took over we've only gone down hill. Now I'm about to drop smuggler, let's hope we can get this ship turned around!

I don't think its LodekDall's fault, I think he did all he could. There is only so much someone can do and I think from what I've read, and when I've corresponded with him, that he did his job well, and I honestly think he could have done some great things for us given time. We will just have to make sure we pick up where he left off.

I applaud Lodek for the work he did in his short stint as correspondent. I also applaud him for having his priorities straight. I wish him good fortune in all his future endeavors.

I was thinking about sending in an application for the position. I don't post a whole lot, but I do read a lot. Many times, I'll alt-tab out of SWG and read up on the forums during periods of downtime. I have a gift for remaining calm and trying to see all sides.

But, with folks like Kav and Caylin, who have been in the game and profession longer than I have and are very active presences on this board, I really have no reason to apply. Plus, I also play EverQuest, so my time is split between EQ and SWG, which would not be fair to those here or those in my EQ guild.

I have every faith in Caylin and Kav (as the two names that have come up the most in thsi thread). While I don't agree with them all the time, I have a lot of respect for them.

I was in beta 3, and working on smuggler to test. When they finally added the Smuggler profession only nine days before the release of the game, I knew that there was not enough time to properly test and implement a working smuggler profession. And so, six months or so later, I decided to try it out and am here now, playing a Master Smuggler on Starsider, as I always wanted.

So, while I won't be applying for correspondent, I will be fighting for this profession on this board, and I offer my services to whoever the new correspondent turns out to be.

hehe.. i kinda agree with the whole idea of the four horsemen staying as watchdogs and lobbysists, especially Caylin..

true they wouldn't have as much direct input [is influence the right word, given the situation here?] as they would if they were correspondents, but then again, does the correspondent anyway? by necessity they'd have to meander back to the middle of the road. by this reasoning, i actually think Geevo would be kind of a good choice.

all that said, it'd still be great if one of them were chosen.

I vote Caylin, as long as he keeps his Smuggler opinions different from his Rebel Sympathies.

If Cay and Kav already are the unofficial correspondants, then does it matter if they get the job? I'm sure whoever gets the position will involve all those active and willing (ie. Cay and Kav and the rest of the community) in their work. I see those two as community leaders - the PC would just be the guy who sends the e-mail to thunderheart Think about it... the PC is just supposed to pass on the community's wishes to the devs. Cay and Kav obviously dont need a title under their names to feel like they should participate. The way I see it, if someone OTHER than Cay and Kav is made the PC, itll be like we have THREE PC's instead of 2

Sorry, Kav, I don't really know you..

I vote Caylin completely. He's been in the community since release, he's been an active poster on my boards and here. I doubt any others have shown as much dedication and knowledge about the profession as he has. He has my full support.

Just a quick response to the one person who suggested that I volunteer. I don't think I'd be a good pick. For one thing, I'm far too critical of the devs. They are looking for someone who can be passionate about this profession, but it's also got to be someone that they can at least agree to work with. I'm more like your Howard Dean kind of candidate here. Good to get the troops fired up, but probably not the guy you want on the Hill since he'll be unwilling to play nice with everyone. I would be unlikely to change my attitudes or approaches with the devs if I were a correspondent, and for that reason alone, I'd be a bad choice. While it's important to kick the devs in the ass and get them moving, it has to be done a certain way and I'd likely be a BIT too forceful with the boot. The other reason is that, frankly, while I am passionate about the profession, I'm also pessimistic about its future and am questioning how long I will remain in the game. You guys don't need someone who's gonna bail again soon the way I likely will when our revamp turns out to be a minigame and I decide to apply my $15 a month to getting more cable channels instead.

Now, as for the one guy who criticized Lodek, believe me, Lodek was a great correspondent. The issue is not so much with the correspondent as it is with the devs. They are absolutely unwilling to communicate with ANYONE about our future, they're unwilling to enter into ANY kind of real dialogue, and all they can do is say "So, what exactly do you guys want? Can you summarize that for me?" And you know what? Even when presented with nice neat issues to deal with, they'll still ignore us. Including our correspondent. But I will say this. Lodek did two VERY important things in my opinion:(1) he made the process translucent, if not entirely transparent, and (2) he went to bat for us on changes that were disliked by the vast majority of the profession and did so in an articulate manner.

Whoever gets the job next, be it Caylin, Kav, or someone whose name hasn't shown up as much, they will need to be articulate, they will need to be patient (which knocks me out of the running), and they will need to keep us informed about what they say and what is said BACK to them, WITHOUT breaching any "duty of confidentiality". That's a tough job and not everyone's cut out for it.
