I'm much more familiar with Caylin's forum work, so let me toss my "second to the nth degree" in.

Caylinwoulddo an excellent job imho. I would hate for Caylin to loose his fire though, but I think he can constructively use that fire for the benefit of all of the smuggler community.

Why cant they both be correspondents? The way it seems to me they both already inherited the job by default from all the work they have both put into the smuggler forums. Why does it only have to be one person. If there are two then when one is busy with work or school or whatever (sorry dont know how old you are) the other can carry the load. It seems they both already correspond with the community, each other, and whoever the correspondent is supposed to be talking to. Plus with two correspondents they can share the load or take turns and not get burnt out like Sun did (sorry not really intended as a pun but it did seem kinda funny after I reread that).

Ok, i'm a bit slow, just now got this. Lol. I'd hate to go against Al Sharpton, for me that would be the most frightening Smuggler correspondent ever.

I have an honest question here and it makes sense. I would first say that my candidate is Caylin but I'd be more than happy with Kav also. Seems to be the general consensus as well.

Here's the kicker, what if Caylin or Kav doesn't get the position? Can we be "happy" or accept the other correspondant? I would back them fully but I'm afraid the community would look at the "other" guy as an "oh crap...so everyone wants Caylin/Kav and they give us this crum-bum. Thanks AGAIN, TH!"

Comments? Questions? I think this is a very valid point and topic of discussion...I doubt anyone wouldn't back the "other guy", but could we support them as fully as Caylin or Kav now?

The easy fix for this is to put the democratic majority in Smuggler_Caylin

That's exactly the question. I believe Kav applied the last time, he had firm backing here on the forumsand LodekDall was selected anyways. So we really can't say that what we say here, will have any bearing on their selection process.

This is not saying however that someone else can't do a great job. LodekDall was doing very well by my estimation at least, and no one knew who he was.

Oh, Nickheel, the support is great and all, but a little unnerving. If, and a big if I was chosen, do I know if I could live up to the expectations that would support such wholehearted support?

I'm only human yah know and I make mistakes. I'm a darn stubborn guy and honestly portraying other views over my own,in an equal wayis a challenge, and that is the crux ofwhat the correspondent should be able to do.Like I said though, thanks for the support man, I appreciate it.

Speaking only for myself, I can deal. I'm also not really expecting or predicting much as far as correspondent choice goes.

I think my 'choices' would be the same as last time around. If Kav wants it I'd be happy if he gets it. If Caylin wants it this time around I'd be happy if he gets it. Any of the 'assistants' would make good correspondants... if they want it.

And that's the most important point. Its pretty obvious that there's some rough times ahead and whoever gets the gig is gonna have their hand full - Both with the devs as well as the players. Whoever does get it needs to want it, needs to know what they're getting into and be willing to put forth the effort needed - as we saw Lodek do in the short time in the position.

As for me, f*** that. I don't want nothing to do with it

Everyone, prepare to flame me!

By no means do I mean any disrespect. IMO I think Caylin is TOO pasionateabout this profession, if that is at all possible. What I mean is that we need some honest opinions and ideas like his to keep the rest of us on track. I've seen you get fired up about certain things, bro and we need that kind of energy fueling arguments and discussions, and not bethe unopinionated and neutral "slave" of the masses.

I think you have passion and a vision for this profession that very few posess, and again, I am not trying to flame you. /bow

That being said, I'm sure you will do a fine job if chosen - and I, for one, will stand behind you.

Though I don't look at the forums for very much. I seem to see Caylin saying and answering stuff more than just about anyone. Yeah, he would be a nice choose, though wasn't he not picked last time even when "most" people wanted him in the first place.

I think that I can speak for everyone one on this, "Devs, what in the world were you thinking when you put in these patches?"

First off, Patch 7 killed our supply of money if I'm correct, smugglers enjoy wealth and NOT being poor. Now with Patch 8, you nerf panic shot which if I recall correctly someone said that smuggler were not fighters, but that they were able to excape from danger. Nerfing Panic Shot wihen it is already hard enough at times to get a hit off, now your just putting a band-aid on a wound that needs surgury (sp? it's late, I think I can make some misstakes:tongue.

What made me laugh in patch 7 was that you made it such a "big deal" to the community that smugglers can on avoid detection by a %. Did that mean that normal people who were not smuggler had no protection? I was racking my head to this since there was no other information other than what I read on patch day and what I read on the forums. Umm, hello, there are still a lot of people out there that do not lik reading a bunch of stuff and would rather be playing the game than hear that something else messed with our proffession!

For crying out loud, spice is useless unless you make the price down to bare minimum or that somehow one can pull off enough resourcesto make a full crate without spending anything. The fact remains though. We lost the market for added buffs with the introduction of the new foods and drinks. Now I'm not saying that those things were not bad, but for a smuggler, this is just insane since the one market where it it more than likely most of our income comes from gets hit and instead of making money, we are just barely making it unless people have good contacts which I know not everyone does and even then the scanning issue puts people on the frits about slicing unless they are a "high" Imp which can get away with anything. (I'm not even going to start on how unbalanced the poweres, but I will say that if you have a truck in one hand and a feather in the other, the truck will win, duh, we don't ahve the NPC heros doing anything, they just stand there like lifeless dolls!:smileysad

Well, to get back on the subject, Underworld has no bone to it and well, compared to other proffessions, a poor tree from the start.(What's with all the pistol xp if you don't even get anything of pistol usage from that tree?)

Spice, that's just a kill to our market and our income.

Dirty Fighting, please! Low Blow works about 25% of the time if that and Panic Shot just got shot as well. If anything, one could say something dirty has been done to our proffession...I wonder want Han Solo would say to our currect status?

One more thing about the the combat part is that since "we" are more likely to get scanned, why is it that trying to take a ST down useally ends with me three feet under?!? We need darn protection or some kind of weapon which says that, "Hey, I'm a smuggler and I can protect myself enough to run out of an Imp controled area without taking a trip to the cloner! Well, it's a dream anyways.

Last there is Slicing, which everyone should know is a random thing and has no flavor! Yeah, in someways I like having the MClamps for a 100% success, but other than that and that you "might" make a good slice, even at master, there is something that needs to be done! A master slicing something at 11%, which I have done, well, that's not even something a "Master" should be getting. I thinks that why it's called master. If the Devs want to let Masters get %'s like that, well, change the darn title to just smuggler then since even masters od other professions have better ablitities at that level where we are given onlyabout a 5% increase in slicing and a worthless 15% or something like that as protection against scans.

Just think that one day your boss comes to you and says that next week are not paying you and the week after that, but we will get you something, you just have to wait, ummm, several weeks since someone didn't use the printer. In the same way, we are paying to play the game on the bases that the game works. (Last time I checked, this was not Beta.) On top of that, seeing something that we enjoy being thrown around like a rag doll and all we have left are scarps is not something I enjoy seeing to anyone, since it is myself, well, I'm going to get a little more angery.

I know about coding to some degree and I understand that sometimes it might take a special guy to do something and that some coding is touchy that doing just one thing wrong could mess everything up. I know all about this. The problem is that this proffession has gone from being a alright/nice thing to take up (even though Underworld still is completely dum and having brawler made no sence either) to a flat out waste of hard drive space at it's current rate. The only thing that has not been touched to a degree is slicing though I didn't become a smuggler to slice, I became a smuggler to make money plain and simple!

I have faith that the Devs can fix things, but as of right now, I really want to see something physical happening to our proffession because it has been since day one that this proffession needed work.

To add one more thing, your promoting the GCW and clear put at the begining in the nice yellow words in the Star Wars setup of it going into the background that crime lords and smugglers have profited off the war...ummm, where is the profiting when there is still a scare to some degree on slicing and spice and that spice in itself is no longer an a part of the market of at least 50%.

I'm going to end now so for people who disagree with me or flat out have no clue what I'm talking about, this is more of aa rant, but it is also a wakeup call since the smugglers are hurting in this game very badly and I'm not joking either!

My only concern with regard to choosing our next correspondent is that they be willing to pass on all opinions that are put forth. Everyone has their own ideas in their heads as to what the profession should be like. While there are a lot of similarities, there are also a few differences.

I really don't want another San Tsu who didn't even acknowledge the concerns that so many of us had and then dismissed them. It is quite obvious that Caylin is the prime choice with Kav not too far behind. I would back either of them wholeheartedly. However, before I do, I would really like to hear it from them that they will put forward the opinions of all of us and not just push their own ideas.

Well McSire, the main reason I would not, and could not have been chosen previously was the last time around, I sat around and waited for this exact kind of thread to appear, and it never did.

What I mean is, the post saying the position was open was never posted, and I kept sitting around waiting for it, as I felt that would be the time to apply for the position. Not saying I would have been given it, just saying that I really didn't get a chance to applyunless I decided to submit my application before they announced they were taking them.

Vipossk, it's all good man, that is one of my main concerns as well. I don't want to lose what I have going for meand become a drone. If you happen to be a fan of the 'trek' then think of it as being akin to assimilation by the Borg. It's a ratherdisturbing thought that I might not be able to say what I want. Not having a role dictated to me by another is worth its weight in gold.

Cshauny, fair question. However, like modern politicians I could promise you I would never do that and it could be the farthest thing from the truth. It will always be a concern I believe, and I could only hope that the actions of whoever is chosen as correspondent will reflect whether they understand all sides to the issue, and are willing to pass it on.

Would I do my best to portray the community over my own ideas and notions? Yes I would do that as well as I could.

Can I guarantee that will happen100% of the time? No I can not, when it comes down to it, the question of what I think could be brought up, that might not reflect the community. I feel I have worked hard to provide all aspects, from my state of the profession in particularto my revamp proposal (However, my revamp is exactly that, it operates from my perspective).

In the event that I would be chosen for this, you should only need to read the state of the profession to see if I understand and have noticedmost issues, or so is my hope.

On debatable points, I like to talk and share thoughts freely, or I hope you have noticed that. While I may disagree with you and you with me, I can only hope that I can treat your opinion fairly. This however, I can not guarantee, nor can anyone else. There is always the fact someone can think the other is 'wrong' without question, and it is too easily affecting representation of others. I would however do my best within the bounds of being human.

If you feel something is not represented or is not treated fairly, then by all means you should letthe correspondentknow. Ido need to make a new publish of the State of the Profession, concerning rewards while doing jawa trading (To say little at all), remove the sliced weapon tag idea as it was addressedand mention the spice problem that recently emerged with the latest publish. Untill a new correspondent takes over, and makes their own, I will always try to keep that thing updated and hopefully primarily impartial and even-handed.
