Again, you either aren't reading my posts or aren't getting the point. It's not about that Commandos and Squad Leaders deserve it just as much so we shouldn't get it. It's that it makes sense that this shouldn't be something limited to smugglers. It doesn't make sense to add this as something that would be limited only to smugglers. What does make sense is to add something like this in such a way that anyone with enough faction standing in any NPC faction could have an NPC escort. Why? Because the only reason a smuggler would be able to get help from Jabba was if he was in good with Jabba, so why limit it to smugglers?

Again, I'm not saying that non-GCW NPC helpers shouldn't be added into the game, I'm just saying that perhaps it shouldn't be introduced in the manner you're suggesting.

Again as stated before we disagree. I think its a good idea you think its a bad idea. We simpy establish that over and over again. Obviously my vision and your vision of smuggler are different. I wish you luck in your journey... watch out for those bounty hunters

I like the idea. And even more it would be great to have to earn faction with Valarian or Jabba or other crime lords, giving you higher standing within the organizations. Higher standing= better thugs and better missions. Hope the devs take a look at this.

Oh, I always watch out for myself.. but I won't have any NPCs watching my back if I have a bounty hunter on my tail. As you already said, they'd die in one hit in PvP.

LOL was simply trying to playfully part ways my friend on this debate, watch out for those bounty hunters was no refrence to NPC pets but rather was simplyof departure from one smuggler to another.

Take one part "nerfed" vendor and add it to one part "nerfed" droid. Wrap it in a goon skin and then we have Smuggler Thugs. They will hold stuff like a droid. They can chat or spam like a droid. They will follow like a droid. They can sellstuff like a vendor. They can receive drop offs or shipments from our suppliers like a vendor. Let there be different kinds: the ship gunner, the pusher, the collector, and theenforcer. All of them as nerfed helpers who add marginal bonuses to space flight, defense, evasion and other things people said.

Now I saw "nerfed" because the need to be marginal at best.Make it impossible to become richor lazy when it's used as a vendor. Make it so it will only buy up to a certain amount from a customer using a predetermined credit limit. Take away30% ofeach sale for Jabba or whichever faction sold the thug to you.

Here's my one VERY game unbalanced request. Allowsmugglers to group as gangs (like a temporary guild)and then each smuggler can make their own thugs follow a single smuggler. Now imagine the BH's surprise when his wimpy smuggler target is openly having a drink in the cantina, but she's not alone. There are25 thugs sprinkled throughout the crowd ... all macroing an /assist command.

I've been thinking about this and was thinking it may be more fun to "tame" thugs in the wild than buying them from Jabba. The underworld branch could give us the ability to be sort of a ch for non-faction npc's. To tame the thug you need to have postive faction with his current boss and then you'd have the opportunity to pay them off to become your bodyguard. The underworld boxes would give you street cred among the thugs so that you can hire higher level thugs as you go up and then get the ability to higher the leader types at master. I'd love to have Borvo's Champion follow me around just for the look of it.

As to the appropriatenessof this idea, well it just makes sense to me that higher level smuggler's would hire some muscle to help out. Han and Chewie aren't the best model since they were independant types and Chewie was enough muscle anyway. Though it is important to note that Han did sort of try to hire Luke in ANH noting that he was "good in a fight". A non-star wars example would be like Jayne from Firefly. Didn't really serve any purpose as to flying to or working the ship but when someone needed to be shot at or something protected he was a lot more useful than the other types.
