Thread: Tiggs: Getting to know the Smugglers and our profession!

Hmmm...

Reading back through this thread, you think Tiggs will get an accurate picture of: 1. Whothe Smugglers are ... 2. Our posting styles ... and 3. Fresh smuggler feedback?

I personally feel that this thread is the most accurate depiction of Smugglers ever put together. Just pure, no-holds-barred Smugglers letting our feelings be known...

I love this forum...

If you feel like you are repeating yourself then please feel free to opt out of posting in this thread.

From scanning the archives, I'd say that she, as well as the other devs who post here, would do well to follow that advice.

I've scanned scores of threads by developers all asking the same questions but rarely delivering any answers, and from reading these forums the past couple of weeks, I'd say the biggest gripe people have isn't so much with the game as it is with the poor communication coming from SOE employees posting to this forum. People think they're being strung along, and from reading the archives, that appears to be the case.

Perhaps a thread with the word "Answers" in the title would be appropriate. It would not only be an act of good faith, it would also avoid the apparent sin of repeating yourself every few months with yet another thread asking the same questions that've been asked multiple times in the past.

Unless it's someone asking if quality matters on slicing and I get to them first.

I'm a bit behind the curve, but I'm assuming this Tiggs person is TH's replacement or something like that, well that being said, I just love the attitude.

Dear Tiggs,

We all here are as sick and tired of hearing the same old lies from SOE as you seem to be with hearing the same old complaints, so if you want us to toe this line, you should as well. Remember we pay to play this game, you get paid to play this game. We are the customers, you are the service provider and if you think the best way to deal with customers is to tell them you don't want to hear their complaints, then I think you will lose your customers. Imagine Ford saying to all those poor people who bought Pintos in 1974, "if you are going to complain about them blowing up when rear-ended, we don't want to hear about it." Maybe you need to consider the reason we keep repeating ourselves is the product is broken, and if you can't respect the complaints of this community, complaints that echo so much as to create a symphonic cacaphony I've grown to love (misery loves company), then you should get another job or adopt a different attitude.

Finally, I would like to say:

Dreven Strobe, I love you for writing "Smugglers have developed our own Elite Profession beyond Smuggler...Master Cynic. We often post using sarcasm as a thin veil for our cynicism."

YOU ROCK.

Although, you should completely fill out the profession with the four skill trees of Bitterness, Sarcasm, Depression and Empty Promises. I'll leave it open so others can fill out this new profession.

Yeah the Smuggler Community is the best there is. The DE boards are nice. There is never anything on the Weaponsmith boards but idiots asking for "Uber"(shudder) weapons or people comparing the size, err stats, of their weapons. Bloodfin is the absolute worst board. They seem to thinkthat Unoffical PVP Server means OfficialWhiny-JerkServer.

I wish I could transfer my characters to the Smuggler Galaxy. Might be worth the $30 and loss of all my stuff.

But yes this thread probably is a good example for Frau Tiggs on the smuggler community.

I'm sorry, but to gain Empty Promises XP you need to be Novice Community Manager.

As Novice Cynic there is Broken Hopes. From Broken Hopes 1: Delayed Hotfix till Broken Promises 4: Crazy assumption of Revamp.

Still lacking some Depression XP, but lets see what future brings.

*raises a skeptical eyebrow*

Welcome New-Kid-On-The-Block.

I've been here since 3 months back into beta and during this time I've come to understand ONE thing about Smugglers:

The name of our profession, Smuggler, has absolutely NOTHING to do with any of our skills.

We're crafters...without experimentation.

We're fighters...that require MAJOR boosts from other professions to be successful.

But, we are NOT smugglers...at least by any acceptable definition of the word 'smuggle', ie; "to bring (goods) into or out of a country illegally, especially without paying customs duties"

Over and over again we've been told that this 'little' issue will be fixed. And, over and over again, we've been lied to.

If you think we're skeptical, impatient and pretty much fed up then you would be RIGHT ON.

The ones of us that don'tbelieve that gummy bears and lollipops grow on trees ALSO don't believe much of anything ANY SOE representative tells us any longer...unless it's that our latest love has been cancelled.

Sure hope you have some good news for us...good news that won't go sour as soon as we gulp it down that is.

Smuggler, Smuggler, Smuggler Pie, Why are there Jedi, I don't know why.

I love how we can all be immediately frustrated by a question that may be asked us in 3 months.

Being a smuggler is a life of defiance. We'd all perfer to be defying the imperial authorities doing things just on the edge of legality and more often than not over that same edge. Instead the smuggler's defiance is just staying with the profession in light of the continual nerfs and game breaking bugs that are continually thrown our way. The crate pulling bug felt like the programming staff drawing a line in the sand saying, "we've made your own marginally useful skill annoying and more time consuming... we dare you not to drop smuggler and go with a fotm template... mauhahaha". Seems to me it would be easier to drive us all out of the profession and delete it than move resources off programming Jedi to revamp it. Atleast the made it so we can transfer our extra slicing xp to force xp for a branch we can't unlock... umm... right.

Yet we try to stay positive and help each other and the profession is generally left with a lot of really great people that honestly love the idea of the profession. People that only wanted some skillz have moved on, at this time there is nothing here for them. I take great pleasure in giving locked containers to people begging for them even though I can open them myself.

I direct anyone I can to this board to learn from the experience accumulated here. With anyluck our new dev will follow that advice and not add to the current frustration by actually asking the question whose very idea spawned this thread.

OK you want to know us, you have heard it before but here is my list.

1. Don't lie (we are sick of hearing you are next to recieve love only to have spice sales destroyed by doc buffs and an unscheduled chef revamp).

2. Smugglers don't smuggle

3. Fix slicing (it's rediculous that as a master smuggler I still get 11% slices and can't choose what stat gets sliced.)

4. Fix spice (alreadybeen touched on)

5. The unarmed requirement for our profession gives us nothing. If we are truly not a combat class change this to the business line if we are a combat class then give us modifiers to our combat skills as we progress.

6. The underworld skill tree is as useless as teats on a boar hog. The one useful skill requires pvp to function and in my opinion it's still kind of lame.

There is more but those are the ones off the top of my head. As mentioned in several other threads this community is together on what is broken and what can be done to fix it.
