How did this turn into a Jedi gangk thread? This thread idea was for discussion of a player-managed Bounty system that could provide new content for BH's and Smugglers, with an additional suggestion to simplify the jedi visibility system. I'm not proposing that current jedi should be drawn and quartered. I'm just trying to propose a suggestion within the framework of the game.

What are you getting so defensive about? I made a sarcastic remark regarding how now everyone and their cousins want to be jedi. No need to get so uptight.

Oh and by the way, the rancor at Jabbas had a handler.

I too find that Jedis have a hard time with sarcasim.

As with most everything on the boards, it always ends up being about the jedi. Seriously, though I think you have some great ideas that we should continue to discuss. I for one would love the ability to place bounties on other players.

Any player may access the Bounty Terminals to place a Bounty upon any other player?

Do you mean you think the game should include forced PvP? I like most of your suggestions, but this one is kind of harsh. Not only is this unfair to people who don't PvP, it would instantly be a tool for griefers. I can just see griefers spending all their time putting up bounties on artisans they don't like or just want to mess with.

I don't know, I just think being able to sic a BH on some one for no reason is wrong. And I don't think people should be forced to PvP.

I do like the smuggler slicing to remove missions a good one, especially generating their own bounty if they fail. In fact, why not add a small chance of being caught slicing any terminal or door which generates a BH mission. I think it is appropriate for a BH mission being generated for a character who has actually done something wrong. Allowing anyone to place anyone on the BH mission term is kind of harsh. On the other hand, it would be kind of cool to sic a BH on those pesky spammers that always crowd coronet. This would probably stop that real quick since most of them are afk and easy prey.

I don't think people would go around randomly adding names to the list, I think it would be an awsome thing for the major RP people on the servers

Where does Han say he sliced the Engines, it is non-cannon jargon that defined this as slicing, please tell me where the tern slicing was used in the movies?

Sorry the phase "special" modifications myself" doesnt have the word slicing anywhere in it, and in all that post you claim I am wrong because of one element of the length of my post.

What about Creature handlers, Teras Kasi, Fencers, Swordsman, Pikemen, Bio Engineers,Image Designers,Rangers?

"special" modifications" invalidates the whole post, come on.

Look the fact is when it comes to Jedisome folks on this board (A small portion of the actual players) want strict movie adhereance to justify, griefing and nit picking on the Jedi class, it is LES not fact, Creature handlers, Teras Kasi, Fencers, Swordsman, Pikemen, Bio Engineers,Image Designers, and Rangers are not part of the movie cannon, period (And yes some elements of other professions such as Smugglers) but it only matters when speaking of Jedi and the "rarity" of Jedi does anyone seem to care, and it's not about limited exposure it is about defeating them at every turn. Every complaint about the population of Jedi almost execlusivlyhas in it "I hate seeing Jedi in starports" this is a visability issue not a population issue on my server I see Jedi in the starports alot, this is fact but here is the part that is left out the Jedi I see are the same ones over and over. I have seen only 6 Jedi on my server one in my guild the other 5 in the starports, THE SAME JEDI so in my observation there are 6 Jedi (I know this not to be true) so not knowing the other servers I dont know if this holds true across them all but I can say the Jedi I see in the starports I am not fond of, but I dont see a need to restrict Jedi in the PvP by nerfing and manipulating every tool a Jedi finds to save the huge XP loss, I see a need to restrict and not force Jedi or ANYONE into PvP when a simple solutionis present that can fix the visability issue. Have Jedi not be allowed to equip or if they do equip in a public place they become OVERT TO ALL, but why you say dont I call this forced PvP? Simple picking a profession is not acknowleging PvP if you have no choice but wearing robes and lightsaber when you could choose not to is choosing. The Jedi grinding in the wild is doing just that grinding, he is not challenging anyone to duel and the BH is the one who starts the fight, we know this. Equiping robes/lightsaber is a statement in a city of definance and challenge, they choose the class, and then they choose to put that class into a position to get attacked it is choice a PvP bounty system agaignst Jedi or any others that they cannot opt out of or act in accordance to prevent is FORCED. Under current visability Jedi as a Dev stated can gain visability for doing NOTHING, how is being logged in doing Nothing is choosing? but if you act in a way so as to make yourself noticed by many, wearing robes/lightsaber in public, you are acting activily to flaunt yourself and then that choice puts you in danger example:

Travel to Iraq and wear a T-shirt with an American flag, eating apple pie and telling the Iraqis that they need to soeak English. What could happen? what is likely?

now

Travel to Iraq and wear nothing that identifies you, and if asked you say your Canadian (Hiding who you are) and even so far as to be speaking in Arabic. Would you be viewed and treated differently? Would it be different then the other American flaunting himself? what is likely?

I think they would illicate very different reactions, who would you identify as American?

This is why the number of jedi is really unimportant, but the appearance is and appearance more then killing and making em feel miserable only ticks off players it does not solve that Jedi are visable, and most Jedi would not show off (though a few still will) if every player in the city can attack em for showing off as opposed to a BH and his group in the middle of nowhere. You see more and more Jedi in starports because the BH obsession with killing Jedi has made them not care about the single BH and his group as this obsession has lead to huge XP losses. City gang bangs would deter all but the most bold, stupid and not caring, but allow those Jedi who honestly try and remain hidden the reward of staying hidden as it stands now even thsoe careful ones are punished and now dont care so yes they show off cause they got ripped so bad with the broken hunts there is no need to remain careful anymore they dont care, there is no incentive to be careful anymore.

Allowing this on other players will make this a spiteful game, full of bullies taking revenge on everyone they can, cheap shots and misunderstandings will result in FORCED PvP over stupid and petty circumstances and should not be allowed on ANY player, PvP hunting is a vehicle for griefing, period there are few "good fights" it is largely picking easy targets and ganking them and I dont blame em, what moron picks a fight they can lose? I wouldnt if I take a fight and find out I cant win I will leave, it is pointless to throw yourself at a futile battle, so yet another reason against ANY forced PvP.

Wow! You sure went off on a tangent there.

Once again I hate to burst your bubble, but there is no such thing as"forced PvP" in the game. Those Jedi that try and remain hidden where told from the begginning that they would still gain visibility, albeit a lot slower than the others. Granted the visibilty system has alot to be desired, but I go back to my earlier statement about the Jedi and forced PvP, this appliesto ALL Jedi. You made a concious choice in your profession, your were not FORCED to do so. This in itself negates your whole argument of forced PvP on Jedi. If you didn't want to be hunted in any way, shape, or form then you should make another concious choice and pick a different profession that does not involve combat, such as entertainer, or artisan.

The whole Idea behind Jedi in this game revolves around the GCW, WHICH IS THE CORE OF PVP IN THE GAME (GCW)!

As far as the rest of the stuff in your reply (Iraq, apple pie), not sure what that was about, but i was initially talking about the movies and the game.

I think the idea of player created bounties is a great idea, but i think there should be a timer of sorts on how long the bounty is active for.

Another ideaafter a player places a bounty on another player the actual bounty shouldnt appear on the terms for a few days.

Also make it so there is a maximum amount of money a player can offer depending on the combat skills that player has, use the same system as jedi 1000 credits per combat skill point, that way the pure crafter types wont be able to have bounties placed on them, and novice players will have such a low credit rate not many bh's will take them.

I love the report idea for the jedi's, would make it so guilded jedi would be slightly safer.

Player created bounties is only a good idea if you can only put bounties on declared faction members. The whole point of having the neutral/covert/overt system is to limit non-consenual PvP. Imagine a guild basically camping the shop of some poor schmuck armorsmith because they don't like the competition. A player with no combat skills could just be arbitrarily added again and again to the terminals and never be able to just sit and play the game. Guilds will keep adding players just to keep killing them. And a BH could now simply buy their way to Master Investigator by teaming up with a victim who lets themself be killed so the BH gets the experience points. There is also group of players who would abuse this system because there is something in their little psychologies that tells them the game is only fun if you can harrass someone else.

I will offer some sensible alternatives:
1. Any faction member over the rank of Lieutenant is at risk of getting on the terminals any time they go from overt back to covert or any time they get a temporary overt flag while covert. Like Jedi, their bounties would be proportionate to their rank and death for the target results in faction loss. If the player leaves their faction completely, the bounty is removed.
2. Smugglers get smuggling missions and failing higher-end missions would risk the potential for bounty visibility.
3. Bounty Hunters who fail a mission on another player (non-NPC) risk the potential of gaining visibility on the terms.

/agree

I think there should be restrictions on playercreated bounties and as you stated should be based on faction and such. I do not think it is at all a good thing that just anyone could be able to place a bounty on anyone else. This would open a big a$$ door for griefing someone just because. I think there should be valid, GCW, related reasons for bounties.

Ok how about this.....

only factioned players run the risk ofbeing on the bh terms. Only a player of an opposite faction can place you on the bh terminals and only high ranking faction players can place bounties(this will reduce the amount of players that can actually place bounties). Also you cant just type in a player's name at the terminal , you can go to the terminal and see if there are any overt/tef'd players of the opposite faction inthe area, if there areyou can place a bounty on their head, this action will in turn make you overt for at least an hour so you run the risk of being placed on the bh terminals too.

Also the number of opposite faction players/npc's will affect how much your bounty can be, players that havent's killed any stormies for example will not be worth any money to a bh. The more you have killed of the opposite faction the more your bounty can potentially be ( player doesnt have to pay the max amount for his bounty) The theory is the more sotmies/rebels a player has killed the more likely he is a higher ranking player and potentially a bigger threat to you (from a role play stand point).

Also this takes away the forced pvp element because you know you can stay off the bh terms by either being neutral or not killing any opposite faction players/npc's.
