I can see your point about authors not giving Chewie's character the level of developement that went into most of the other characters... In fact thinking about it now I think that other than little moments like in Vector Prime when Chewie threatened to bite Anakin's lightsaber in half, the only author to really pay attention to Chewie in the EU was A.C. Crispin in the Hutt Gambit and Rebel Dawn.

Okay, I liked the Rogue and Wraith Squadron books, too.
