Shadowpaw. There are some very nice guides stickied at the top of this forum that can tell you everything you wanted to know about smuggling, or lack there of.

Oh, and i have also noticed that the smuggler forums are are definately one of the more friendly ones. U guys all seem to be kind to one another, and i respect that. Kinda ironic that some of the nicest and most respectable people on the forums are smugglers huh? hehe, anyways, my compliments /kowtow

Smugglers get a discount on faction items including buying faction points. However we can't have more than 500 when we buy.

Faction must be purchased from recruitors in fixed amounts.
So no you can't buy 2000, just like that.
10k for 125 faction is the best bang for your buck from the recruitor. This is a fixed amount, you can't say you want 100 faction or 150 faction. It's 10k for 125 or 1k for 10.
Having colonel at that point doesn't mean anything, rank only matters when you are transfering faction with /delegatefaction.
At colonel you can transfer 100 faction points to someone at the cost of 118 faction points.
Partners are essential for large faction deals that involve using the recruitor for faction generation. As without them you could not get around the 500 faction cap.

The math is too hard for me to sell faction...so I don't know anything more than what has been posted up to this point.
So the point of this post? Dunno...
I guess welcome!

Right. Once you reach 500 or more faction, the option to buy more is no longer available. Now you can plan things right and get about 624 faction (499 +125), but there is no way you can buy more without transferring it off.
