Thread: This is not a please read post.

i have not read ever single post on this thread but i agree withthe concept of communication. one of the things that bugs me the MOST about this entire gaming ex[erience is that the only communication comes in the form of a red name posting "tell us what you think" or saying "we have been discussing" or "...soon!" as well as the "exciting changes!". as a smuggler, the only changes we get are either "nerf/fixes" to something that was suposedly broken to begin with. i sure would like a hell of a lot more communication, rather then some news that will later be denied.

COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION

PLEASE!!!!

Keep in mind, once a dev finishes a project like that, he checks it in. It goes into our version control software ... and we have little control over when it will get to you. Sometimes the developer isn't even 100% sure which publish his change will be in: the next one, or the one after that?

At that point, it's in for an upcoming publish with a lot of other stuff. Any of that "other stuff" could delay the publish. Or we could hear back from QA, "We don't have time to test that properly, so let's hold it for the next publish and give ourselves time to test all this other stuff." Or this could delay the publish itself. Or we could discover other issues with it in testing that cause us to sit on it for another publish, and so on. Really, anything could happen.

Most of the time, nothing bad happens, we haven't scheduled anything that requires more QA time than QA can accommodate, and what we check-in arrives on Live servers when it's supposed to. But this is just not something we can promise, so we try not to do that.

This particular torpedo has left the tube, but we can't say when precisely it will make contact with the USS Smuggler.

"Soon".

First of all, thanks. Thanks for the straight answer and the attitude of laying it on the line.

I am sorry, though, if you get yelled at for replying to a PLEASE READ thread. It's sad even if this is just an inside joke, because it's that attitude that has really annoyed this community. That the people are something you don't ever reply to or talk straight like we are adults. I found your explanation not only straight forward, but realistic. You not only gave us an answer, but explained to the extent necessary, the process that might hold it up.

Keep up the good work.

Geez, some people are never happy!!! A dev comes in and talks about a torpedo heading to the USS Smuggler and you're still not happy?

...

um... waitaminute... that sounds ominous...

Thanks, JFreeman! Looking forward to the changes.

Do not get me wrong, I'm thrilled JFreeman came to let us know what's up. I'm thrilled to know our slicing changes are inbound - I'd just like to know what they're gonna be.

I am a bit concerned that the estimated due date is far enough away that the changes could be a possible future Friday Feature - Makes it seem at least a month off to me... But that's hopefully just my beaten, worn, tested resolve talking.

But seriously, thanks JFreeman - Any info is appreciated - I honestly thank you for braving the wrath of Tiggs.

EDIT: Wow - post 201 - Neat.

Skelestoner, you may just want to go back and read the other posts in this thread.

Thanks for the update, JFreeman. It's great to hear the slicing stuff is done and on the way. Now if only the same could be said of the smuggling system..

Dear Tomo,

I know this is off topic, but I just wanted to say you do an excellent job as Pilot Correspondent.

Keep up the good work. The pilot forum and the smuggler forum are pretty much the only places I can find information and feel at home.

Jeez, you should see my inbox if you think that. I got over 30 PMs from people calling me a liar in one way or another.

However, now that JFreeman is posting in here, I find it hilarious that every time I navigate to another page, I have yet another PM from someone apologizing for what they said.

Some OMFGWTFBBQROFLCOPTER noobs just don't get it I guess.

Ah, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, a million times, thank you. Some officialinformation is SO much better than none. (Not to dismiss Veela or Jorasfor their efforts at getting info to us, as it was much appreciated -- it's just nice to see it on company letterhead, you know?) I'd offer to come over, do all of your yardwork, repaint your house or whatnot in absolute gratitude for some communication ... but I'm going on vacay in about two hours. Maybe if you've communicated more by the time I get back...?

Again, thank you.

I know, that's why I decided not to share any more info that I garner with the community. It sucks, but if half the community can't trust me, why should I trust them? It makes sense to me, for the time being.

=(

Your efforts really are appreciated by soem of us... even if we don't bother logging into the forums for other reasons to say so.
