first I toned down the font....sorrysecond, it's a real hard issue to face, from what I've read it's seems like theselect slicing is goodin some ways, I mean, when i get a bad slice, I say it's random and I'm sure everyone has gotten that noob customer that doesn't know what's up with slicing, the other day a wookie got mad at me for getting an encumberence slice, like what..."I WANTED A BASE SLICE", I'm a bothan so a pist wookie is scary to me, hehe, so choosing would be cool to tone down all the complaints....but on the other hand random makes it more fun in some ways and I can always laugh when the noob doesn't get it on the inside with other smuggler friends, I want the best for my customers...that is way true, but I still want slicing to be fun and exciting, getting a 35% dmg slice on an uber weapon makes my whole swg day hehe....I'm a newer master smuggler, but through it's ups and downs, i love this profession, and I don't intend to drop it, I'm sure it needs a little overhaul, and I know that the old masters deserve it, Smugglers get the bad end of alot of things in swg, and overlooked alot aswell, I can't say I'm for or against selective slicing, but all of you have valid points....and I respect every opinion on it,

A cause I have been in favor of since seemingly the beginning of time (i.e. release). My reasons for doing so have been thoroughly explained in the last but basically it comes down to wanting to keep my customers happy and that a master profession should always be able to have SOME form of influence on whatever task they are undertaking.

P.S. To whoever used the baseball analogy....that is a TERRIBLE analogy. Of course Barry Bonds can't hit a home run or win a game when he wants to. That is because there are other extraneous factors in a baseball game (other players, weather, etc). Comparing his ability to play baseball to a smugglers ability to learn and modify the inner workings of a mass produced weapon is as I said before....a bad analogy.

I belive you SHOULD be able to pick which stat you slice. A smuggler that can slice isn't some goof cutting random wires. If that was the case then I think there should be a % chance the weapon can explode on the user since I just mashed some wires together. A smuggler opens up the weapon and carefully cuts the exact wires he/she needs to with a Presision Laser Knife and reattaches them (or not) to the correct place. Now this is the theory anyways. Heck, for all I know SOE might think that slicing is smashing, I don't know. If the weaponsmith economy is that fragil then how about this, let us choose our slice but at a low increase to the stat. Or if the decide not to let us choose then I would like to see us be able to slice all weapon and armor stats (condition, H.A.M. cost for weapons, Accuracy, ect...) but at a higher increase since it now has a much lower chance for the slice you want.

In any case, the slicing system is boring and mearly a credit grind. The boxes are dull and the method is right outta a bad action flick. *Bomb counts down* "Hurry cut the wire!". It's really dumb. Something needs to be done to slicing to liven it up. Tons of things have been suggested. Some include slicing vehicles (speed, condition, resist), ships (haha), droids (attack speed, damage, condition, resist), Ticket Terminals -or- Collector (free travel, even further decreased shuttle times), Bank terminals (no 5% transfer fee on next transfer perhaps). All kinda ideas for slicing, thanks to the smuggler community. But no feedback from the dev side it seems. It's not our fualt so lets let this one die. I get flustered writing about it.. lol

Or at least raise the lowest possible slice at Master Smuggler, those sub 20% slice's are just embarrassing.

Also I am pretty sure people would be willing to pay much more to get a guaranteed dmg/speed slice, so i doubt we would lose money.

Here's my idea of how I think it may work. I'm still grinding smuggler so my experience wth disappointed cusotmers has been limited.

But here is what I think that teh steps should be.

The beginning of the slice starts the same. You use a clamp cut the two wires.

Once that is complete (here's where the changes come it)the WUK or AUK boots up like a crafting tool.

Just like a crafting tool you get points to place in either damage/effectiveness or speed/encumberance. Or both. The higher you are in smuggler the more points you get. Just like all of the other crafting professions.

Now to make it more plausible the "experiments"can work or fail so there is a chance that you get an UBER weapon or you get a change that you get nothing.

Also there should be a button that gives you a random slice of max efficiency. It will be guaranteed to give some type of increase in a random stat (no chance of a 0% slice). But it should have a mulitplier so that you can end up with a higher slice % than if you chose the property to slice.

Just my idea. whatever that is worth

I love the slice crafting idea. There is room for all kinda neat things there, would a station help, tool eff., new clothing attachments, force skill mods.

Yea the crafter-type idea is interesting, however, it sounds like it could take forever. I would still want slicing to be reletively fast paced for the sake of gameplay.

If I was in for full realism like I generally really enjoy, I would say, making slicing a 5-minute process that takes thinking and a high probability of failure. But that kills gameplay so no. =)
