Smuggler Archive
Thread: My simple, honest, and heartfelt question for any DEV willing to answer.
Admittedly, I don't know the guy at all, but I hope more things are cleared up before JTL comes out. Some of the stuff is simple code fixing that they could patch in.
Like changing the % range for a master, I still had a 11% eff on a piece of armor the other day. (reported it as a bug.
None of these things make the smuggler profession fun or like smuggling, but at least they clear up some issues we are having to deal with right now. Give us a reason to stay a smuggler now!
And what the hell did that pistol xp comment mean? please don't say stuff like that unless you plan on explaining. I don't remember any of us saying we don't want to use a pistol, we just want to be effective with it.
There, I blew my steam for today. :/

Why should I, or anyone else in the Smuggler community, continue to pay for this game?
Because:
- At its core, SWG is still a fun game. The next few publishes are focused on fixing major elements of what makes the game frustrating. Eliminating hologrinding, improving the Jedi experience, balancing combat, and introducing new GCW features. All of this promises to improve the overall SWG experience.
- JTL is coming. Jump to Lightspeed is adding a completely new experience to the game. It's a lot of fun and its very different.
- Smugglers will get a revamp. I can't say when. If I did, and we missed it, you'd kill me. A revamp will happen.
- No more smuggler B.S. No more announcing a date and not delivering. We're going to put together a plan for smuggler and post it here so you guys can review it. We'll have a plan determined before we start writing the code so you know whats going to happen to your profession.
- Because we will do a lot of stuff you asked for. Better spices. Spice experimentation. No more pistol requirement. A lot more new stuff as well.
If they do answer, another question I would have would be... why should I, or any other member of the Smuggler community, believe you this time after so many broken promises?
- No more broken promises. I had some very frank discussions with several smugglers at Fan Fest. I KNOW you guys are frustrated. We aren't going to string you along. There will be a revamp. It might happen after JTL, but it will happen. There will be a public plan for the revamp ahead of time (possibly soon) that you guys can start tweaking for implementation.
- I take this profession very seriously. I know its flaws. I'm going to level up a new smuggler character, myself. It's very important to me that Smuggler is improved and turned into a fun, rewarding profession.
I think that all professions need to have these same adjectives attached to them. I hope to God that the professions finally _ALL_ become fun and rewarding sometime in the next year...
GreenMarine, your credibility is still good with me. I’ll take your word for it.
Good to see you back on the Smuggler Job. Dont let them take you away again!
Any idea when we can see the preliminary plan?

Spice experimentation

I guess I'd better stock up on harvesters.
Green,
I have toyed with going smuggler with a toon for quite a few months now, but our guild has 3 or so people that jump in and out of it regularly and that satisfies the needs of most people therein, for now.
But I honestly look at this issue much like the current 19 answers threads. Communication is virtually nil. There is no communication because it, by definition, requires feedback from both player and dev sides. While I understand the enormity of dealing with a few hundred thousand players, the angle with smuggler I see as the same on storage issues. There is no logical or moral stance to make accusations that people who play the game steadily and become successful in game terms are bad. But we continue to be the butt of evil and excuses for everything that is wrong from the posts of your PR representatives.
Smuggler players are not the problem here. Please make sure that lines of communication are kept open to the community. If you disappear and do not post for another month, or simply ignore responses to your DEV inputs on this forum, as is what we are getting in the 19 answers threads and virtually all the crafting community, then you have nothing to blame the playerbase for doing wrong.
Sorry Smugglers. I feel for you. You've been strung on so long over this that it wouldn't suprise anyone if JustG or Runewhatever are getting a kickback for every account with a master smuggler that pays for another month.
Sorry guys. You have way more patience than I do.

I know that you bring this up to mostly show examples of player requests that will be reviewed and not setting specific features, but I cant stress enough reviewing the templates the community has posted about spice.
Most of them state we want spice creation removed from our tree.
We should besmuggling it.
Just a friendly heads up to prevent another revolt. ^_^

I respectfully await your answer.
Because you voluntarily became a smuggler knowing what it involved in the first place, so what do you have to complain about?
We've been doing an alright job taking care of ourselves up to now, we surely don't need your input now.
