How much more information do they need?

We gave them SO much information and all they did was remove it from the forums. I mean seriously, the only one that's left is the one in this forum, and it's so outdated and overlooked that people STILL come here posting redundant ideas of how to put smuggling into the game.

PS- I'd like to see one well thought idea/concept from the forums that they've put to use. The only thing they actually use are bug threads about bugs that have already passed their QA.

Vendor changes- in with zero adaptation based on player feedback.

Politician- zero skillpoint investment even though existing politicians despised it.

Entertainer changes- a huge slap in the face to long time players that keeps getting worse even though they come up with alternatives and ideas on how to make them better.

I'd like to see one instance where they actually listened to the information provided other than bugs.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I'm not going to argue with you there. If we're talking delivery timing.... ugh....

Sorry Makris, I had to go back and add some stuff.

Nothing personal, but the thought that rolling over in a way will somehow get us what we want will work makes me nauseous.

You can flame or you can be constructive. It still comes down to the same thing. They do what THEY want, not what WE want. Nothing will change that because either LA doesn't look at what we want, doesn't get told what we want, or doesn't care what we want, and therefore it won't be a priority for them to push with SOE.

QFE and then some:

You see it goes like this:

We want to know what you want- but we KNOW what makes a MMORPG tick-

Hell, we're SOE! The creators of some of the biggest MMORPGs out there. We've spun many a game into gold.

Now looking at SWG, yeah the dancers got their "hawtpants" in a crack, the Rangers got problem with their...rangerin'- and the SMUGGLERS! Don't even get me started with them. Who KNOWS what they want.

But our real audience is the Jedi. Damnit. I don't know what these "trekkies" see in it but they love them lightsabers!

Now, them boys in marketing tell us that over 90%- NINETY PERCENT of new players pick up SWG just to swing one of them lightsabers! Crazy hunh?

But here is the deal. We got it- so's it takes a playerat leastSIX MONTHS to even get to the first stage of being a Jedi. Called Patties or something like that.

That's a locked in character right there and six months of guaranteed revenue.

Now we are working on the backend of that. How can we keep them AFTER they become a Jedi.

So the programmin' people and some people at LA doctored up this FRS system. Something to do with the struggle to be Darth Vader or something and let me tell you- these kids are gobblin' it up like a turkey in November!

When we started- that first team of creators were against Jedi poppin' up so quick. They knew most players wanted that lightsaber but they was afraid to give it to them- and I said, "Hell, boy! How long you gonna pay for something and not get it!?" So we let the secret slip and the Jedi just started pourin' in. Hell, we had to double the qualifications just to keep the whole galaxy from being Jedi.

But people were playing like madmen! And the pay kept comin'- that's when I told them to come up with a system to keep these little b@stards busy while they Jedi and that's when they came up with the Village People.

That's why SWG is a success. We listen to what you want...

Now, what were you sayin'?

Great post HOTDOG. 6 months of guaranteed revenue, hehe, never thought of it that way, but I'm sure the bean counters have.

So maybe it should take 6 months to become a smuggler eh?

This is how I look at it. With the way customer relations are right now, it pretty much seems like if you post something, they won't read it, and they won't hear you. But, if you yell, scream, and piss them off enough to get banned, you know that the message got through. And by the way, I agree with you that things are really heating up as of late... The $hit is about to hit the fan, and it will either make or break the Smugglers as a whole. But its not in our hands, its in the hands of the Dev's... All they need is to give us some info on how things are shaping up... That's all... Its' like a game ofchess. Its your move dev's, all that's left isour kings. End this game now, while you have the chance.

HOTDOG hit it right on the head.....there main focus in SOE is the bottom line, what can we do to milk more money out of this game.

Sure, maybe some devs want to help out the smuggler community (pfft) and maybe some devs want to make this game more fun for the rest of us (HA) but noone will step beyond their orders to make money for their company and, as life would have it, keep their jobs at SOE.

All kidding ourselves aside, this is exactly what we're dealing with...and it's gonna be one h*ll of an uphill battle for us, the players.

And on the subject of communication. This is a subject very dear to my heart and I have hoped beyond hope that SOE and the devs would open up with us and give us more communication on what they are doing and why/if they could/couldn't help us with our profession requests and the requests for making the game better overall.

I truly believe now, more than ever, that the devs are not communicating with us for a specific reason....they are working frantically to gain more players and more new people to this game to raise the income and they are not trying to make it better for us, the veterans, because they already have our money...they want to attract new meat. Why do you think they made "The Total Experience"? They wanted to attract as many new people as they could, because they're (probably) not meeting projected profits.

And on that note, would any of us stick around if Tiggs came on here and said, completely truthfully, "We are abandoning the smuggler revamp, which by the way we never actually agreed on implementing anyway in those words, because it's not worth our time and money persuing when we could be attracting more people to the game with jedi fixes, which most people want to play a jedi more than they do a smuggler. So sorry for your long wait and I apologize for this unfortunate message, but forget a revamp, it'll never happen"

How many people would hit their cancel button then? How much money would SOE lose then?

That is basically my point

I just think we are holding hope in something that will never happen, SOE is toointerested intrying to attract more business than they are in making their veterans happier, after all, they already get a steady paycheck from us.

The point is- You don't have to kill the F'kin' golden goose.

Come to the boards and listen. Pay some f'in body to READ the damn boards. You will see- YES. People do want to play Jedi and enjoy Jedi but there are just as many accounts you could win back by:

Instituting a similar path for other professions.

Instituting as much work into the GCW.

Introducing player bounties.

Keeping the Jedi in the GCW but on a different tier than those that do not wish to interact with Jedi.

Give us our goddang Smuggling system already!

The boards are FILLED with this stuff. People stood up and applauded when the idea to seperate the Jedi came up.

But the people above Tiggs, and TH don't hear or see that- they see a piece of paper with numbers that say- Most of the players are playing Jedi- and they immediately think- let's keep pounding at that puppy no matter what.

In the end- they kill the goose being greedy.

I think there are too many Star Wars nerdsthat willkeep this thing alive. You get a development license from Lucas Arts? Instant cash. Andthere's too much of fan base to kill it. The only thing that would kill it is Lucas Arts. It all depends on what's in the fine print.

The trick for them is to reel in the non-SW Nerds. That's where marketing comes in. That's also where the license holder dictates what can go where. Jedi sells. The time we live IRL is EP I - III which is Jedi centralized. The young gamers want to be Jedi.

The good news is the Jedi character is pretty much complete (other than FRS - which is developed).

EDIT: /slap the speller
