you guys are going to have to wait until they finish with the jedi updates, simple as that

at this point in the game when devs are working on balancing out jedis and the bounty system

they probably wont take much notice to requests for a smuggler revamp

i would wait until after this next patch to bring forth complaints

just because right now the majority of the swg world is having a huge battle over the fairness of jedi hunting

smugglers definetely deserve a revamp as they lack major content, currently a smuggler can be played as an alt

only logging it on when needed and not having any actual effect on what goes on in-game

or even having any smuggler oriented content in the game period

isn't this an example of the cross forum trolling we were told about?......go back to the BH forum Domonique

In complete fairness, the FRS was a complete joke. For the Jedi, it is like getting smuggling that has absolutely no effect on the game whatsoever. Take a mission, get to the end of it, and get no credit. Many Jedi I knew who fight clubbed the FRS did it strictly for titles, since the benefits that came with the titles were completely insignificant.

That said, Jedi will be complete when the FRS is in.. and for all the GCW fanatics like myself, it will be a good thing as it will segregate Jedi from the GCW to a great degree. BHs are invariably intertwined in this FRS system as it appears that BH deaths might weigh heavily against FRS rank (that's to say P20 will put the framework in place for this possibility), making visibility something to be feared again.

As I see it, the sooner devs finish Jedi, the better for the rest of the game.

It's rather absurd that the aspect of the game that was originally intended to be most rare now consumes more development time than any other aspect of that game.

I'm not here to bag on any of the devs. I just want to tell you why I'm here in the first place.

I have a friend who worked at SOE for a long time. When this game came out he was telling me about it. I've never played nor have I had any interest in playing any MMORPGs. He went into a description of what the game was going to be. I listened, sounded kinda cool. He told me about how you were going to be able to be a rebel or an imperial, how you could eventually get bases, followers, etc... and how jedi were going to be very rare in the game. All of which I thought was ok, but certainly weren't enough to get me to buy the game. (I'm not much of a video gamer but I find something and obsess on it.)

Then he told me that he'd saved the best for last. That I was going to be able to work for the hutts. "Wha???" And that I was going to be able to be a part of a 3rd faction, sell my soul to the highest bidder, smuggle stuff across the galaxy, get caught, blast my way out, get hunted by (for example) the Empire when I did missions for the rebellion and vice-versa, if I screwed up a mission I'd be hunted by bounty hunters........

So I bought the game... (granted, I bought just recently due to finances and not being able to afford the subscription until recently) but it was this thought that drove me to buy it. The thought of having my own YT-1300, running past imperial blockades, blasting my way out of starports... I hit the grind hard and got up to Master Smuggler in just a couple of weeks but became very disappointed that there was no real smuggling going on.

Slicing? It's cool and yes I believe that a smuggler should be able to do this but I would happily give it up to actually smuggle.

Spices? I didn't become a smuggler to craft.

Combat ability? Well, Solo was a bad-***with a pistol. But I'd say he was MSmuggler/MPistoleer. Give us a bone here and there so we can survive fights but if that's our idea for a character, we can take a combat profession as a back up.

So, here's my plea, just give us word on what you plan on doing. If you're not going to give us the Smuggler revamp let us know so we can stop hoping and respec.

thank you...

Things never get changed because of that first "Jedi" word. Everytime they change Jedi someone complains so whatever plans they had for their next publish get thrown out the window and get replaced with yet another change to Jedi.

/shout HEY JEDI STHU FOR A MONTH WILL YOU?

Just a month is all we're asking. You can continue your 'It's all about us' quest for game dominance next month. Just let them bang out our crap, we'll take it and go play in the corner. You can go off and well, do whatever it is you do (I just unlocked so I don't know yet. I still don't have any plans other than getting my alts template back to smuggler/pistoleer as soon as humanly possible. The Jedi will still be there when I get done (What? You mean play my toons the way they were meant to be played and my Jedi ISN'T my 'main' anymore? Correctamundo! Yep. I know. Logic. Who knew?))

All I'm saying, is give pie a chance.

Please. Think of the smugglers (just for a month). All it takes is (say it with me now),

(Now imagine you're in some sort of group therapy session where you're all saying it together)

'We'll stop the whining. For a month.'
'There are other professions in the game.'
'We'll stop the nerf cries. For a month.'

Hey, it could happen.

Just before I get the inevitable flames from our cross profession forum trolls, this was meant out of fun....For the mostpart. I'm kinda serious though.

Well....

I basically got b****ed out after I called SOE last week. I won't say who, I won't say what was said....but I can't call there anymore.

But needless to say.......if that person was as irate as they sounded on the phone, the future of the Smuggler is looking really bleak.

I think all of us seriously appreciate the effort you made for us Smugglers, and the hit you took for the "team". It can't have been pleasant (regardless of how non-plussed you may have been at the time) to be spoken to like that. Personally, a company should always respectful and courteous to any callers, at any time. Even if they were p*ssed, they still should have maintained their composure. And being a serving officer of HM Govt, I assure you I know all about irate phonecalls.

However... I get the distinct feeling we're all screwed [over]. No contact with any Devs since GMs "In-Concept" thread...an In-Concept thread that has now been deleted. A slicing system 'revamp' implemented with little orno input from the player base. A Combat Update that has 'revamped' the Smuggler role as "Crowd Control".

We've had our 'revamp', ladies and gentleman (and others ).

ive been up all night reading the replys to this thread, its like 7:30 am and ive gone through nearly an entire packet of cigs, maybe i could sue SOE for damaging my health and making me smoke so much.......hey weirder things have happend

ie

Chewbacca isa Wookie.....etc etc etc.....look at the monkey..look at the monkey...

man this world is screwy

i think my reaction has now turned to shock, i TRULY believe that SOE no longer gives a flying turd about us Smugglers anymore. I can even imagine them deleting the proffesion from there offices.

come on SOE whats going on ? (next post here from me WILL be constructive i promise(tm) )

I'm unfortunately in the same boat. I logged in the other day then just logged straight out. Then again this happens to me all the time, I get times where I can't log into Galaxies.

I believe that why we haven't had anything saying we aren't getting the smuggling stuff would be due to the fact that they fear the large numbers of cancelled subscriptions. Personally I don't know if I could stay any longer if they tell us the slicing "revamp" was it, and I'm the head of the best guild on Chimaera (at least as far as I'm concerned ). Those who have no responsibilities to other players who have been smuggler longer than even me would definitly be leaving.

If it's positive news... THen I can't figure out why we have no news.

What happened to your Smuggler Friday Feature, that would have been much better than copying a sticky from the PA forum.

JFreeman I beg of you for the sake of the smuggler community and the entire game do as you do and ignore normal dev protocol. We know you can and have (A poll post and a A "Devs please read this post"), so for the love of us all respond here. Give us some information any information.

Until the devs finaly give up with whatever it is they are trying to do with Jedi and actually sit back and look at the REST of the game, this star wars "experience" will be nothing more than "wow a Wookiee holding a lightsabre. Now what I do?"

Well you have to agree, fat wookiees with lightsabers is pretty vicious.

But yeah, the development's vision for Jedi keeps changing and each publish gets swept along with it.

It's rediculous to me that 4 of what SHOULD be some of the most engaging, cool, fun to play combat / compliment professions:

Smuggler (should be a ton of fun to play and essential to a 3rd faction)
Commando (should be vital to the GCW and something every group wants)
Squad Leader (also should be vital to the GCW and an almost necessity for a group)
Ranger (Should be important to the GCW and a hell of a profession compliment)

And they are four of the most gimped in the game. They've said that their main focus is the GCW, but 3 out of the four listed here should be a HUGE basis for it. Yet they are virtually untouched and we've been waiting for 2 friggin years. Logic has been completely abandoned here somewhere along the line.

This is software. I can tell you positively that 'finished software' is an oxymoron.

Seriously, do you really think they're ever going to "finish Jedi"?

I generally do not get involved with threads like this, as I get waaaay to PO'ed.

I understand a lot about the development process as I am a Web Developer myself, and own my own business. My employees have to respect a chain of command (so to speak), and no information about changes to someone's site or functionality to be added/removed is EVER to be communicated to the client until completion. I know its a different world, Web Development and Game Development, but I really do see a problem when other companies liek NC Soft (I played CoH and GW and loved them both) have such great customer service and great interaction between developers and customers, and SOE and LucasArts can't seem to get it right.

LucasArts was my all-time favourite software publisher (thanks to TIE Fighter, KOTOR, and other great Star Wars titles), but after the SOE/LucasArts collaboration, I have been left wanting.

I purchased this game and still pay to play it to this day for one reason and one reason only... I love Star Wars and interacting with people. This is the only game there is to give me what I want without resorting to 1st person shooter titles.

I really wish more could be done about the state of the game (not just our profession), but the only way this thing will be fixed is by launching SWG2.

And sorry Tiggs, JFreeman, GM, Blixtiv, but SOE should not be the development company assigned to it. Not without some major productivity/priority changes. Now noone will ever know exactly who makes the final decisions as to what is worked on and when it is made live, but one thing is for sure... it really makes the Development Team look terrible. If it's not you guys who call the shots, i would seriously consider you all start distinguishing a line, because if you really are the good people you seem, its upsetting that you got dragged down by someone else's decisions.

Will I cancel my account and leave? Probably not. Nothing can take the Scoundrel out of me.
