I'm on Kauri and changed from 3k to 5k flate rate about a month ago. I'd say 70% of random people don't bat an eye and gladly pay 5k. I get about 20% who try to haggle, "I know a guy that does it 100 per %". I tell them wait till that guy is online and have him do it, since they're all so impatient they wind up paying me 5k to do it now. I still have about 10% of people who tell me I'm a rip off and walk away.

I charge nothing . But I also only slice my guild members things. I dont need credits and i feel that the way the slicing is now is worthless. I have been a master smuggler for awhile but the reason I got it was because its the reason I bought swg. But I agree that slicing prices are too cheap.

I have been charging a flat 3k per slice, but starting tonight that will change.

I will mull over if I want to just raise the flat rate, or go with one of the high % figures I saw.

We will see what kind of reaction I get this weekend. I've tried to talk to other master smugglers in game and it's hard to tell who the real smugglers are and who the temp/holo smugglers are.

Kettemoor Smugglers UNITE!!

As another Kettemoor Master Smuggler, I agree that we need to unite and raise our prices. I think that an increase to the flat rates is the way to go. I was doing it with the credit per % way and it took too much time to calculate what to charge. I was thinking of going with the 5K < 20% 10K > 20% flat rates. However, I am open to suggestions so we all stay on the same page.

No longer slice for the public. Just my guild and weaponsmith partner. If i'm in a good mood I may slice for a stranger but getting very rare now.

For the few times I've been on in the last few weeks I've been saying 10k per slice. I've had people walk away *shrug* Whatever. I still slice for free for guildies if they can catch me on

5k if the slice is below 19%

10k if the slice is above 20%

Take it or leave it, I wont beg for your money

I think 3k is too low, I like this pricing and will be changing to it right away

I charge 2k per slice for weapons and armor. Free if its below 20%...

Why am I so cheap?

Because I don't believe in the over-pricing these days from the inflation of credits. Nor do I believe that others should suffer because we got our revamp pushed back.. again.

(For the curious, I make all of my tools and mine up all of the resources required to make them)

But seriously.... 2k per? How can you not believe in inflation. Someone spends 500k on a gun and then you charge 2k to make it worth 1.5mil, someone makes a gun with top quality parts for say 200k, then sells it for 1mil after your 2k slice. Why shouldn't you make money off of the skill that everyone else is making money off of?

I used to charge by the percentage, but now have fixed fees. It is MUCH easier.

Guild = Free

Rebel = 4k

Imperial = 10k

I was worried that I would catch a lot of flak when I raised prices, but surprisingly there really hasn't been any complaining.

LOL Thats funny.

Explain the facts behind why charging more than 2K is overpricing. Our fellow smugglers have been trying to increase the average slice price for a long time now. Who cares if you make your own tools. Whether you make them or not, it still doesn't cost that much to slice. It's not about cost, it's about value.

I could sit here in futility and try to explain this to you, but you're most likely already set in your ways, and probably nothing would change your opinion.

Those of us who ahem "overprice" ahem, recognize the value of our slicing services. And NOBODY is to say whether or not we're overpriced except the customers. If I can effectively position my services so people will pay for them and walk away happy, then I've done a good job.

And that is exactly what I do.

I haven't sliced in about 2 months, but last night I was walking through Theed when someone sent me a tell asking my prices. I replied 5k per. I used to charge 100 creds/%, but I have gotten tired of seeing someone drop 100's of thousands of creds on a pistol only to pay 2500 creds for a slice. I almost replied 10k per, but held back. While waiting for the reply, I did a search to see if there were any other Smugglers around - none. Then I really regretted not charging 10k The guy replied with an OK, sure, sounds great. Maybe switching to 10k, we'll see, but 5k per slice right now.

I am not real sure what others on Tarquinas are charging but I have decided to raise my prices from 200c times % to 10k flat rate!

This seems like a big jump, but it seems lately that I have been overwhelmed with tells! People that know I am a Master Smuggler and even if I do not have my Tag up they still will tell me! I have never had a problem with this but it seems to be happening more and more now and I figure if I am going to put up with it I can at least raise my rates and make it all worth while!

Again, look at all the posts of people who say "I've raised my prices and still get plenty of tells".

There's always gonna be more customers than smugglers. Our services are high in demand. Second only to master docs, IMO.

So why not charge more if you're gonna get the business anyway?

You're not ripping anyone off by charging more. Nobody is ever forced to pay the price you name. If they know and have accepted the price going into the transaction, then all is fair.

I was always a strong advocate of organizing a smuggler-wide price hike, but in the past, so many people made business arguments against sharging more money. I must say that it's quite refreshing to see so many people who now feel the same way.

No go out there and mke some money.
