Thank God!

Seriously, I am glad this is fixed. It's one of my list.

Call it semi fixed. The main reason for needing this was the retrieval of AUKs and WUKs that we had to go through... which left many people with more tools than they could hold. Now this isn't going to help them at all really. Good for the future, meaningless to the present.

they want all those crates emptied to help server load. remember a post a while back about the lag problem from items sitting in storage etc? other than inventory, vendor and banks? *sigh* made a quick search and couldnt find it....this will probably help lag for alot of folks. goody! no stack for my already converted stuff? BOOO!

This is all well and good, but will current tools stack, or will this be like the AS components and only items looted AFTER the patch will stack?

Kinda important to know, IMO.

Plan for it working this way. And trust me, even if you have houses full of the unstackable stuff, you will soon burn through them and only have stackable loot left.

At best, this is an gross oversight by the devs. At worst, it is a blatant attempt to thumb their noses at us.

Its attitudes like this which are not constructive.

There are probably reasons why they cannot retroactivly make this change. Something about having to do a server wide inventory pass across every single item in the game. Its fareasier, and SAFER, to just apply it to newly looted items.

I thought stacking up on a massive bunch of loot toolkits where a great issue for storaging space....

AUKs and WUKs were rendered useless by the slicing changes that were made a while back. SOE put in a "conversion" capability to take the sting out of losing all those kits, and to get Smugglers started (I guess) with the new system.

In order to get the "conversion" option, you had to uncrate the AUK or WUK. In other words, it was only available on a SINGLE AUK or WUK.

A lot of smugglers uncrated thousands of AUKs and WUKs in order to obtain the necessary components to slice and the ratio of the higher-end components was (of course) slanted so that those components would be rare.

The result of this was that many Smugglers were left with hundreds of "simple tool kits" and had to store them. Since this change is *apparently* not retroactive to those components that were uncrated, this does not resolve the storage issue for the majority of Smugglers who were Smugglers before the slicing changes.

There will never again be as large a problem with the storage of slicing components as therecurrently isfor those Smugglers who uncrated all of those AUKs and WUKs, since now ALL slicing components must be looted.

Hope that made sense...

What do you think about still crated WUK/AUKs? If I remove one item from crate, salvage it, do you think it would stack if I do it after the patch?

That would be a question for SOE.

Maybe the folks on test center have found out the answer to this.

Yes it did...

Good lord.

I am sorry.

--- Cancelled 24th November 2006
Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.

Yep

Unfortunately the stacking isn't retroactive (at least it wasn't when we were told of it), but at least from now on components won't clog up more space than they need to.

Haven't read the rest of the thread, but I was able to stack existing smuggler loot by pulling from backpack and dropping into my inventory. Need to test by trying to stack the stuff in my houses (items looted prior to patch starting last Friday night).

Edit: I checked the previously looted items and only stuff looted since this patch went in (started last Friday evening) will stack.

Then what's the point of it at all? We'll still be stuck with houses and vendors full of the stuff. Sounds like the Devs can't even make a fix without missing the whole purpose.

Next, we'll discover that the only critical slices that work are ones applied after the patch, too?

You mean instead of 50 simple toolkits I get a stack...

YAY!

It also means i can take down 2 houses full of slicing gear and clear out stuff my guilds merchant is storing for me. A tiny bit of Smuggler love still not Smuggling tho.

hmm Ok what about AUKs and WUKs still in crates? when i decrate them will they stack?

Admitadly it's a very good change, but I'm very disappointed that the Devs cannot (or will not, as the case may be) make the stacking retroactive. Seems like an oversight from square one when the slicing components were tossed into Test Center one day and live the next
