Thread: Flurry Smugglers

First off, I feel the hologrinding smugglers out there on all the servers are the biggest cause of problems in our line of work. These players who have mastered half a dozen classes prior to smuggler and only want to master the class as quick as possible so they can move on are truly bringing down our noble but occasionally immoral line of work. They are the ones who can slice for as low as 25 creds per % (yes, i've had to face spammers who have actually offered that price) with freer slices under 20%. I'm just a smuggler/scout trying to earn some cash and advance my trees and I have to compete with those prices! I've only got 12 grand to my name, yet these other players with hundreds of thousands of credits steal business away from me! It's quite frustrating!
But I think a concerted effort to raise the generally accepted price on slicing at the master level can work. Most players will only get sliced from a master smugglers. Sure some people might not be happy with paying 10k per slice, but that is only because they are spoiled from the cheap slices of 1500 to 3500 of the past. And once other master smugglers realize they can get away with charging 10k per slice they will.
I see doctors selling their Master level Buffs for 6k-12k per set. These are great, but only last 2.5 hours. Why shouldn't we be charging similar prices for modifying weapons, which give a permanent benefit that lasts the life of the weapon (sometimes months).
Hologrinders are not really a major problem. Most of them will just grab crates of survival knives and go quietly about their business. They will be gone before you know it. They will only spend enough time as a master smuggler to slice their next set of weapons for their next holo profession.
I feel for you as a Non-Master smuggler. It is tough going.

I'm still adding names to your list, if I've missed you feel free to email me or reply to this post.
I do like the sliding scale idea. Those sound like fair prices. As far as the newbie thing goes. we all know that you only use that cdef for a whole of 2 hours tops. So I'm not worried about that. Let the newbie have a newbie weapon and once they start pulling in higher paying missions then they will be able to afford a good slice.
Here's my vote for 10-19% = 5k, 20-29% = 10k, and 30% and up 15k.
I'm starting now and sticking to it till we can have something 100% concrete for an solution.

Thank you all for posting and putting your thoughts into this post so far. I wouldn't mind meeting with everyone in game sometime, but we'll have to set a date way in advance.
We could discuss prices of spice, clamps, lasers, WUK's, AUK's ( for the ones of us that manufacture to sell ) and so forth. I personally am sick of crates of spice for 3k, but hell what can we do when our spices aren't worth to much to people...
Now onto listing Smugglers. I have compiled this list from what I have gathered in this post, I know the list will grow and grow, I'll try to keep it updated. If any of you know smugglers who aren't grinding, send me an email or post here and I'll add them to the list.

Master Smuggler here since November. I'm probably the smuggler everyone here loved to hate due to my very cheap prices. I price for the masses, but If everyone believes I am ruining the Smugler econnmy, I'll move to 5k a slice average. I still belive thatprices should be linked to the quality of theslice, and with that in mind, I would love the quality of the slice tied to the quality of the tools, but that is for a later discussion.
I'll be ingame around 1730PDT tonight till who-knows-when. I'd love to get a big chat going with the whole gang of you. I will be running an event for my guild most of the night,I expect, though.
