It's time Smugglers and Bounty Hunters, Weaponsmiths and Creature Handlers,Carbineers and Pikemen, every otherprofessional forum in this game makes it abundantly clear to thedevs that any Jedi-induced nerf uponone profession will be seen as a Jedi-induced nerf on every profession. Because while thesubscriptions of all theJedi players are significant, the subscriptions of everyone else is even more significant toSOEs bottom line.

There's got to be more players out there interested in keeping this game Star Warsy and fun for every profession, than there are Jedi just out to be uber. Time to start building up that political clout we deserve with the other professions and cashing it i to bring this game back to how it should always have been.

I don't do this very often: QFE.

I, too, will be extremely pissed off if any non-Jedi profession receives a nerf due to Jedi whining.

I'm with you guys.

First off, let me admit to being a geek. *hides face in shame*

Jedi, in the Star Wars world, is a very cool thing, no doubt. But I've read a lot of the EU books, lots of them. Some of the best one were the books that were full of short stories, like "Tales from Jabba's Palace" "Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina". I don't know how many other people have read them, but the vast majority are about the "regular" people.

One of my favorites, for sheer comic value, was about how one of the Gamorrean guards at Jabba's palace was so stupid the other Gamorrean's even thought he was a moron and avoided contact with him at all costs. He carried the body of a dead man on his shoulder for over a week, calling it "evidence", as he investigated (too put it loosely) the crime, and he was dumbfounded that while this body slowly decomposed on his shoulder that people would run away when they saw him.

Another one was about the Weequay thatworshipped what was, basically, a Magic 8 ball. They'd ask it questions and whatever it said, they did it!

The bartender at the Mos Eisley cantina used Greedo's body as a secret ingredient in a new drink he concocted!

The guy that Obi-Wan spoke too in A New Hope, right before meeting Chewbacca, he had a great story too! He disguised himself as a street prophet in Mos Eisley to hide from the local police and drew such a crowd to his preachings that the other preachers beat him up.

Anyways, my long winded point is that I got this game so that I could do things like Han Solo and Boba Fett and Chewbacca and see Jawas and Tusken Raiders and on and on. There's more to Star Wars than just Jedi. All those other people had lives that were just as interesting too.

Hmmmmm.....I would say last ditch is pretty low on the jedi worries list to be honest. My alt is Msmuggler and I would say as A Msmuggler/TKM/ nov. doc...She is nowhere near overpowered....Smuggler needs nothing but improvements...no question there!

Funny you should mention this - I watched a show on G4TV the other day on the history of LucasArts games. They [LucasArts] were doing great up until they started saturating the gaming world with sub-par games. Once they slowed down, got their act together, and decided to release quality games - guesswhat they wantedto center [most of]their games around?

Being a jedi...

Anyhow - I say Last Ditch is needed to keep the game interesting. What better way to instill fear into anyone who dares to pvp [either by choice or because they are being hunted]?

How to fix the problem without nerfing smugglers;

If profession = Jedi then novice smuggler can not be selected.

If profession = MBH then novice smuggler can not be selected.

STOP NERFING SMUGGLERS NERF MBH & JEDI.

I don't see that thing as a real fix. Why shouldn't a smuggler be a Bounty Hunter? There is (in my opinion) no reason for those two professions to be mutually exclusive, they can even fit very good together in a (careful now comes a dirty word) role-playing context.

The general problem with that is that we would start the dark path to a class based system this way, which is not what SWG is, we are template-based, which means: professions should all be of equal worth, and there shouldn't be professions "better" that others, just different.

If we don't allow Bounty Hunters to be smugglers we would soon come to even more mutual exclusives:

  • Because of the Hypocratic Oath, Doctors can no longer start a battle with other Players/NPCs, they may only defend themselves. Therefore they have no Deathblow any more.
  • Since Bounty Hunters are solo fighters they cannot be Squad Leaders any more.
  • Smugglers cannot be Politicians cause they are "out of the law".
  • ...

Restricting profession mixes is no way to fix the current issue at hand.

Oh, and before I forget:

Every Jedi and every developer should read "JenniferAmidala"'s post about the "non-jedi" population of the galaxy, I think that post sums it up perfectly.

got wes's back on this one...

am not a smuggler but a shot that is basically suicide to use is

not that much of a debalance issue unless you are a jedi defender.

(want bad usage of last ditch? - drug up as a master defender 12k ham... run avoid incap and spam it..... Jedi get the most evil usage of it....)
